I feel bad for those mormons and bad for that man who thought that slamming them in the face with scripture was the loving thing to do. We are called to love above all else. This is not to say that we can't speak truth, but this was not truth in love. I am a Christian. I love God. I believe in salvation only through the atoning blood of Jesus. I am in no way mormon, but I do understand them more than most do.
I was raised in town of about 4,000 people. In that same town, there were 3 huge (400-1000 people) mormon churches. You could say the mormon church has a serious stronghold there. My mother becam a mormon at 16 and is now Christian. She was baptized for about 35 dead family members. She went through many of the rights. She was on the inside. My father is currently on the inside. I once asked him why he was mormon and he said the mormon church was the only church he walked in and felt like family. It's sad, but the mormon church has a serious hand up the Christian church on how they take care of their people.
I once invited some missionaries to my dorm because I wanted to hear from the mouth of the horse what they believe, but even they didn't truly know. They knew how to defend their faith to the average person, but when you bring up the controversy many of the are stuck. Unfortunately, the girls ended up crying out of frustration from trying to convince us. I was not proud that they were crying.
Mormons are people just as we are. They are deceived just as we once were. They are lost just as we once were. Why do we slap them around with the bible and laugh when they shudder. It's a shame that so many Christians have come to this. If your conversation is gonna escalate like this conversation did, then walk away. All this man did was take "truth" and speak it with a spirit that made it false. He took scriptures and slapped these boys around like they were evil. They weren't evil, they are deceived.
