As I recall the problem was that we were both assuming something and had no idea the other was assuming the opposite. I assumed you would naturally want to rent a car... Because that's what I would have wanted to do if I was going to visit someone, mostly so I would have the security and freedom of not being subject to anybody else's schedule, free to drive away if i ever wanted to.

Meanwhile you were wondering why I did not want to give you a ride? You were probably wondering "Is he really THAT cheap, or just THAT lazy?"

We got it straightened out though.
huh well, I don't know ..I find that rich people tend to assume everyone else they are friends with are also rich and have access to the same priveliges they do.

They often have noooo idea.

The whole thing of being 'different' or 'other' is one thing many in the minority have to deal with every single day. It's tiring.

Fish out of water scenarios are common though, and can be amusing, but also extremely frustrating.

Yup, still the same lanolin. Still hating on "rich people."

On topic of garlic, for Italians and Chinese, it's a key ingredient in their cuisine. How can you not like garlic. It keeps vampires away!

I'd rather have garlic breath than cigarette/alcohol breath.

You have NOOOO idea what the gap between rich and poor are. It just shows your unearned privelige.

I've worked in lowest decile schools and the highest. I can tell you right now that the highest were the worst.

Lol!

I wasn't thinking you were cheap!

I was just wondering why would you weren't understanding what I thought was so obvious.

I didn't realize that my point of view... was only obvious to me.

Also why would I change for YOU!

Come on Lynx, this is why you are ignored by many.

because he just doesn't understand people.

Or maybe it's just plain ol' mansplaining.

Same OLD Lynx never changes.

Also for some men, chivalry IS dead. They just don't know how to act chivalrous.

Who said you should change? I never said you should change. The entertainment potential alone is too valuable to lose. :p

I sure missed you, with your broad brush assumptions and your random prejudices. The forum has been a much less interesting place in your absence.

Seoul newsflash, its just typical behaviour of a narc
Narc as in narcissist, not narc as in he narcs on people. Or maybe there is a bit of that too.

I'm sorry for my very low opinion of your life-long friend. But I got to call him out.

yea am going to cry now because people laugh at me and don't take me seriously...actually can you believe that sometimes that happens. I have feelings too.

Not everything is a joke.

Though I do like a good joke. But making fun of others...not cool.

because he just doesn't understand people.

*smile*

Lynx has a very niche circle of things he understands and is very good at, and unfortunately, I was outside of his circle. It took a bit more sorting out to turn both of our circles of understanding into a Venn Diagram.

I'm smiling because I've always smiled at your assessments -- understanding -- of "rich" people, @Lanolin.

I grew up around and babysat for some very wealthy people by in a nearby neighborhood. One family had an amazing two-story glass greenhouse built into the back of the house, with a view over a ravine. The master bedroom was built on the second level to be able to view the sunrise through the greenhouse, and there was an amazing spiral staircase down to the ground floor.

I could be wrong, but people are people.

In all groups you will find good and bad.

The people I babysat for were wonderfully down-to-earth, and extremely generous.

Hey at least you spell it correctly. One or two days ago I saw a post on this very forum where someone spelled it narcist. I guess your library background does pay off.

Kids like to prank, but its kind of like...oh that boy is being mean because he likes the girl. Really?!

No the boy is being mean because he's a jerk.

I have some very rich friends who are wonderful and generous but also in odd moments they come across as very out of touch.

its much of a muchness. Poor people can hide their poverty because of shame. Rich people hide they are rich cos they don't want anyone else to be richer than them.
