many ways. a smile. when difficulty arises, so do my smiles. yes, laugh at trials, tests, tribulations & temptations!. "seize the 4 T's, they're not going to cost me fees nor put me on my knees"! repeat to yourself 1st Corinthians 10:13- 'there hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man, but God is faithful who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able but will with the temptation also will make a way to escape that you are able to bear it"! another way is to simply resist, yes i said "simply" resist the 4 T's. don't be in the fight of difficulty. retrain your self to resist & not fight difficulty. MOVE ON, ALWAYS!!! having a "MOVE ON" attitude & reaction will set you apart from battling difficulty. yet, another way, invent comical phrases. "trust & you will not rust". "do you're best to pass a test & you will rest". "i will not be bad, mad or sad, i will be glad". learn Psalms 51:12, 16:8,9, 27:14, 34:1, 19, 51:10, 90:14, 98:5, 118:24, 119:165, Proverbs 17:22, Isaiah 40:31 & 41:10, Jeremiah 33:3, & James 1:12. try this, as soon as you recognize difficulty, cogitate on the subject that is the most fun in your life. tell yourself the funniest jokes you ever heard. & learn a "military tough discipline". i've seen many people join the military who were weak willed before they went in & very tough when they exited the military. a lady friend of mine, who lives down the street is super tough, she'll go jogging in the worst weather, heavy blowing snow, hard rain, extreme heat & cold, you name it. as for me, i didn't have to learn to be mentally tough & disciplined, it was already in me. probably, i inherited it from my dad who was super tough, physically & mentally. i know in the past, people thought i was bragging because i am wealthy but they missed the point. that posting wasn't about wealth at all, it was what got me there. the very subject you are talking about, ThereRoseALamb. being resilient, persistent, ambitious, tough not to quit to strive forward, always, as Jesus would tell us if He were here. also, complaining, doubting & pouting will stop progress big time. everyone, forsake that childish nonsense, that's what kids do. "if i fall, i will forever stand tall". "the more we seek, surrender & obey, the more we peak, remember & are okay". "be not problem pondering but solution solving". "sin & you will live thin, obey, pray & you will not pay". "wail & fail or fight with might". blessings to you all.

I'm going to read this several times because there is so much advice here. But I have to say "trust and you will not rust" is going to become my favorite saying!! I like that! A friend of my father always says "Sin makes you stupid"! Pretty straight forward. But the Bible talks about how we are like an army, like a soldier, running the race. I know there are a lot of Christians in the military, parts of the Bible would make more sense to them I bet. Enduring till the end. Thanks for your post! So much good advice.

I like that verse in Lamentations 3: 21 This I recall to my mind; therefore have I hope: because that is how my mind goes when it all hits the fan. God has done so much for me to show me He is real. I mean personal things, meant just for me to show He knows.

I think on some of these things and understand that whatever is, I don't need to loose sleep over it. Didn't happen overnight though

Another old song says "I wouldn't take nothing from my journey now". God's not brought us this far to let us down.

Hebrews 12:2 says it well:
Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Sometime in our Christian lives we must make God's word our absolute authority. Feelings can betray us, thoughts mislead us, but God's word never fails.

Examples: Does God feel far away? What doe He say? "I will never leave you or forsake you".

Decades ago my marriage broke up and I thought that my Christian life was over. I had so much accusation that I could not deal with it. I was close to despair, until God broke through my wild thoughts. He reminded me of the precious blood. I was forgiven, all I had to do was confess my sin. So I did, and the black cloud lifted off immediately.

When emotions are raging, often the truth we know is overwhelmed. However, it is the truth that will set us free. So we need to learn how to ignore how we feel and stand fast in truth.

Thank you for that testimony. My mother would always admonish me about feelings. I would say " I don't feel like a Christian". And she would say "feelings change from day to day, we trust, we rely on faith, not on feelings. Still working on it all these years later. He's still workin' on me.

The Christian life is a marathon, not a sprint. Your mother was spot on. The first 40 years for me were the hardest......

I know this verse was mentioned before, but when my then-husband left, I clung to Jeremiah 29:11 -- "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future."

I held on to the words "hope and a future" for dear life because I couldn't see any for very many years.

Not too long ago, a dear friend had a life-threatening situation.

I threw myself on the floor and cried my eyes out. I had a certain amount in my savings, and out of desperation, I thought, "Lord, if I give this to the church after my regular tithe, will you take this away?"

Now I know people will say, "You can't bargain with God," and of course I know that's true. But I was thinking of the story of when David and Bathsheba conceived their first child, and God struck the baby with an illness.

David fasted and wept, pleading for his son's life. Like David, I wanted to offer something up in submitting to Him, hoping that would help -- because when you're broken, you'll try anything.

Alas. The situation did not turn out as we prayed it would, but God has provided, and my friend is still here, one day at a time.

There is hope and a future.

At least, that's what I'm still holding onto in this passage.

Thank you for posting this thread, @ThereRoseaLamb -- it came at a very apt time, and I pray God will comfort you, as I know you've had several very rough years. 💖

I would have put that hearts emoji on that one.

I understand how you felt sister. I have gone through several rough years but along the way God gave me seeds of hope. Things that would seem silly to others but it meant something to me. And these things carried me through and gave me the courage to be strong for my family who needed me.

I recall when my mother was going through cancer treatments we had to go into the city to her doctor. She would have to have a scan that took about an hour. Then we would have to go upstairs and get her results. Always praying but never knowing what her doctor would say. The hospital does its best to be uplifting, its grounds are beautiful. They had an older lady come in and play the piano and she was there on days we were there. I recall one time we were waiting a rather long time for her doctor after her getting her scan in the morning. I would never be anything but positive for my mother no matter how I felt. But I was tired and feeling overwhelmed. I stepped outside the waiting room to the walk-way which was open and you could look down to the main level and I heard the piano and my father singing "To God Be the Glory" for the things He has done. As he finished the room was silent for several moments, then applause, a standing ovation. I don't think many of them had heard anything like that in their lives. But to me it was the words to the song that hit me, I went in to the doctor with my mother and she got a clean bill of health. She has been five years cancer free. I would give anything to hear my father sing again. If God can heal cancer, He can heal dementia. I am trusting and God has sent me seeds of encouragement. I thank Him for what He has done in the past and what He will do in the future. There is still hope.

& i thank you ThereRoseALamb for your interest in my posting, the recognition & how i may be an example to assist a Christian friend! because some people may think i got these from pastors or Bible teachers, i didn't, they are all my creations. here's another: "as quickly as you don't pray, you will see the difference in a day"!

I'd love to hear from everyone, whether we agree or disagree on issues. And if you feel to add a personal story, a verse that got you through, please share it. I hope all of us can get encouragement through this thread, I hope all participate.
Col 1:27
to whom God willed to make known what the wealth of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles is, the mystery that is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

Heb 7:25
Therefore He is also able to save forever those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.

2 Tim 2:13
If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself.

"How do you maintain your faith during difficult seasons?"
Romans 12:3
King James Bible
For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as
God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

Romans 5:20
Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound.
But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound: 21That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.

Even in what may seem total failure, grace, mercy, & love is given to the saint of God to make it in this world, regardless of what state it is in.:)

Honestly, you could put together a book of encouragement of these. I love that too! When I was younger I wasn't sure about prayer. Should I knee down, should I set a timer, should I write down names and needs so I didn't forget. But as I have grown older, I find myself praying all day. If someone asks for prayer, I do it right then and there on the spot, I don't care where it is. I pray before I sleep, I pray when I wake up. Prayer changes things. :)

Grace that is greater than all our sins! Another of those old hymns. God does amazing things with broken pieces. I keep reminding myself all things work together for good. Even though I can't see it now, God is always faithful.

a famous pastor has that as a slogan, "prayer changes things". you remind me of me so much. sometimes i feel like i pray all day. i was raised catholic so i was unknowledgeable about the truth. i pray while driving, mowing on the tractor, exercising, in the grocery store, anything at all. sometimes i fall asleep while praying. that is so neat, what a joy. every day, i wake up praying. blessings to you.

I woke the other day, with all these responsibilities crushing down on me, my father sick, my husband facing a major surgery and I didn't want to face the day. Then a song, yes another lol, came to mind that we use to sing as children in church that said " This is the day that the Lord has made, we will rejoice and be glad in it". Of course it's Scripture set to music but it gave me that encouragement that I needed to start the day. Blessings to you too brother!
