I guess it's movie night for me. I just watched the latest Jurassic Park movie.

Jurassic World Rebirth (2025)
That big weird looking angry critter at the end was kinda odd, but other than that I thought the movie was entertaining and had nice scenery.

saturday, we watched the autumnal display on the way to Canagoharie New York, attended the Arkell Museum, viewed the art, lunched together, visited some antique shops, purchased 5 stoneware pieces & capped off the day with dinner at the Raindancer, Amsterdam New York.

Hard Target (1993) One of Van Damme's better movies.
I miss the days of Van Dammage. 🥺
Yes! Van Dammit, I agree!

I do plan to give his latest movie a watch though, whenever I get a chance...

I was trying to explain to a young friend why Van Damme was so awesome back in his heyday. I know the generations now just see a bunch of old men, but those 80's and 90's action stars were truly in a league of their own!!!

My young friend has been raised on only green screen/CGI-produced entertainment, and was thoroughly in awe (and disbelief) when I explained that "back in the day," these actors did their own moves, without wires, green screen, or computer creations.

My favorite is the 360-degree helicopter kick that he made his trademark.

And who can forget the incredible Volvo commercial BETWEEN TWO MOVING TRUCKS, demonstrating that he still had his flexibility -- at age 53!!!

Man, do I ever miss the days of good action/martial arts movies. 😭

Tulsa King season 3 finale. Despite what I saw some commenters say, I liked this season and the finale. One of the rare shows from the current times that I'll actually watch. Samuel L. Jackson was in the last couple of episodes, as he'll be in a spinoff called NOLA King.

I don't watch scary movies.
I came across one reviewed by a Christian and found out that Patrick Flanery was the lead role.
It was described as a Christian movie depicting a scary subject of demon possession in light of CS Lewis Screwtape Letters. Since it was classified as a Christian movie and I've had attacks from demons, I thought I'd check it out.

I found doctrinal disagreement with it in two or three places. Not surprised since I read that a Catholic exorcist was consulted and Mormon Glenn Beck was one character. I recognized one actor from the Babylon Bee as a small role.

The movie had no redeeming quality. All mention of Jesus was just refered to as "the carpenter" and "the enemy" by the demon. There was no hero in the movie. It spoke to contemporary issues and hypocrisy very well.
The only good thing about it was that it was accurate in many regards to the demon possession and description. The actor Flanery did an amazing performance as multiple personalities of the suffering victim and the representative of the Legion of demons. A very convincing and disturbing portrayal.
In contrast with old movies of the genre I used to watch Baixar Cinema APK para TV Box, it was much better, however I can't say that it was time well spent.
Yes,Great find! I just watched the trailer, and it looks really good!

Way better than Times Square (imo). Credits to another member for cluing me in about this last year.

Times Square is overrated. It's one of those things you might want to do on your life once, depending on your preferences.
I did it on year 2000 ... when the world was supposed to end ... due to the Y2K bug.
Not only the world didn't end, but it was cold, dirty and some lame food service after the ball dropped.

Why would anyone call grownups, wearing diapers, standing in a crowd of people so thick that it takes five minutes to move a couple of feet, just to watch a ball slide down a pole, sane?

Exactly!
I went there at about 10PM because i had bought one night at a hotel near Times Square which allowed me to pass freely because the police put barricades and they were kinda strict back then and i assume they're more strict now.

When i went into the crowd i was talking to people who were sitting there for over 12 hours! And they came all the way from Texas!

THE RAINMAKER (2025)

The 10-part first season. I don't know the book, only the 1997 movie, which I think is great. They found a very good actor for the role of Rudy Baylor, who looks quite similar to Matt Damon, which creates a certain familiarity. In contrast to Leo Drummond, who has a completely different appearance and is also even more of a jerk. Some things have been changed. Great Benefit is not an insurance company, but an umbrella company that operates several hospitals. And in one of these hospitals, Donny Ray dies under dubious circumstances. „Bruiser“ is a woman in this version and has a much more important role than in the movie. Even though the basic plot structure is familiar, I found the series very exciting. I had to skip a few violent and bedroom scenes, but otherwise I think it's well done. And it's the first new series in a long time that doesn't have any "woke" elements! (At least, I didn't notice any). A second season seems to be in the works.

Paint dry…
that reminds me of a friend who didn't like sitting around being useless. so 1 day a bunch of us were talking about planning the day & he mentioned that 1 of his friends was a deadhead who hardly was interested in anything. so he said about him,
"if you hang out with that guy, you'll watch the river go by"! so phunnneee!
