Job.1:7
"And the Lord said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the Lord, and said, From going to and fro "in" the earth, and from walking up and down in it."

I'm posting this scripture to lay ground work for a more important discussion. So first, ide like to get a consensus on what Job.1:7 is really saying.

Is it saying "in the earth" or "on the earth" or "throughout the earth."

The interlinear says in the earth.
The KJV says in the earth.
The NKJ says on the earth.
The NIV says through the earth.
Alot of other translations say on the earth.

Any input?

If you think of the earth as a realm, all the prepositions effectively mean the same thing.
It seems unlikely that this means he was walking around under the planet's surface; the context suggests he had seen Job in his travels; and I don't think Job was living in a secret subterranean metropolis, or an abandoned mineshaft.

It would seem that Satan when and wherever he pleased, not only any place in or on the earth but in heaven as well. In chapter 41 it declares he beholds all high things

Yup, that's what I get. He's traveling from heaven to " in the earth".

As i understand this, satan is inside the earth, doing something in there. Are we still on the same page?

Satan is the one traveling, yes?

Jesus said he preached to those of Noah's day that were in prison. 1 Peter 3:19-20. Where that was I don't know, but I guess it might be in the earth.

The center of the earth would make a pretty good hell, but that not where I'm going with this.
Would it be safe to say from the information given in Job.1:7, that Satan resides inside the earth? And then ask the question, what evidence can we look at in the temporal realm that would give us an idea what he's doing in there.

I am clueless as to an answer. I would ask, does Satan have the same freedom today that he had then?

I think freedom would be the wrong word to use. I think that their are rules or laws in the spiritual realm just as real as the ones in the temporal realm.

Basic law in the spiritual realm for Satan would be, he can't just overtake someone. Like possession, the host has to basically give permission, or allow entrance. Like an alcoholic would surrender himself to the spirit of the alcoholic, that's an opening for satan.

For our discussion sake, I think the open door for satan is humans desire for technology. He can't force this desire on mankind, mankind has to do things to invite it into the world. And that's obviously happening on steroids.

The tea leaves I'm reading say technology is satans vehicle to create the same thing God did by speaking things into existence. But satan does it by mankind's own sinful desires.

So putting flesh and blood on this, what is the main component of technology?

I would guess you might be referring to AI.

I would guess you might be referring to AI.

Minerals. The key component to technology, computers, AI, all of it relies on Minerals. Minerals that being in the earth with satan, give him the resources to build certain things.

What kind of things do you think satan would want to manufacture, that could replace what God spoke into existence?

Waht difference does it make? Satan here on, in around, all over the place doing what?
Seeking whomever he can devour.
John 10:10 the first part of that verse is the Thief
The last part Jesus came here to give new life, more real in Father's Spirit and Truth
Waht is the new life? John 4:23-24 ask, be given unless you have wrong motives you will not get it and strive as many today are and many are now rested after going through tested through troubles first. Those in Father through risen Son for them do not care about seeking anything for their own pleasures, as James speaks of those that do not get, it is because you only want to spend it on your own pleasures

I probably jumped the Gun on your post, sorry. I just have a hard time with semantics

I'm kind of fishing for some members who might have some insight on this subject. An uncomfortable subject.

If we have some obvious evidence about who , what, and why he devouring, would that be worth a conversation?

Perhaps the beast of Revelation

Perhaps the beast of Revelation

Yes, definitely.
That kind of takes care of mankind, he's got humans preparing for his real priority.

But I think Satan has a much bigger problem, the second coming of the anointed Messiah, the one with all power and authority, Jesus.

What would you guess, by the evidence we have at this point in history , he would be using to stop or engage Jesus when He returns? Or do you think that's a non issue?

Job 1:7 And the LORD said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.

1Pe 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.

Satan puts it blatantly that he is deceiving people.

But God is allowing it so Satan does not have to try to hide it.

We know when it says in the earth it means on the earth.

You know Satan is the deceiver so he would be on the earth.

Gen 1:22 And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas,

and let fowl multiply in the earth.

Gen 4:12 When thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength; a fugitive

and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth.

Gen 9:7 And you, be ye fruitful, and multiply;

bring forth abundantly in the earth,

and multiply therein.

These say in the earth.

But we know it means on the earth.

Who would read it and think it is under the surface of the earth.

When the context lets you know it is on the earth.

And if it means actually in the earth the context will show it.

Gen 6:6 And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.

Lev 11:2 Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, These are the beasts which ye shall eat among all

the beasts that are on the earth.

Sometimes it says on the earth and sometimes in the earth.

In the earth.

In the earth, on the earth mean the same thing.

There are 5 instances of in the earth in the New Testament and they mean below the surface.

There are 21 instances of on the earth and they mean on the surface.

Thanks for your input.
What if he was hidden and able to deceive from inside the earth? Doing something inside the earth that would accomplish his deception and working towards his bigger problem, the return of Jesus.
