I agree with @ResidentAlien .... it doesn't have to be complex.... being a Christian is simply being a disciple/follower of Jesus. Read scripture to learn what he taught people, and do your best to be like that...
love God, and do your best to do what He commanded for us... love your neighbor as much as you love yourself. Help people that need help, teach them Jesus as you help them... it doesn't have to be complex...
thanks for the advice hornetguy.as a new christian i soon found the knowledge is overwhelming.i have just purchased THE HOLY BIBLE NIV.im looking foward to taking my time with my reading.

God bless you!! (Jude 24-25)

~Deuteronomy
p.s. - have you found a local church to attend yet? If not, I would make every effort to do so as soon as you can. Solo Christianity is something that the Lord never intended for us, rather, that the Christian life would be all about relationships (first and foremost, with Him, of course .. e.g. John 17:17, as well as regular, face-to-face fellowship with other Christians as a close second .. e.g. Proverbs 27:17; Hebrews 10:24-25). Church, small group Bible studies, etc. are where we go to come out of the "storm" of this world's system/ways, remember who/what we are, Whom we serve, why we are here, and to be strengthened & refreshed in the faith and in our walk with Him, through Bible teaching, prayer & fellowship with one another.

You've probably heard that we, the church, is referred to as "The Body of Christ", and we are to be a blessing to one another as we function as "parts" of His body .. read 1 Corinthians 12:4-31 and take note of what it says about the "body" there and I think you'll come to understand why you need us as much as we need you ;)

The Lord also left us with men/undershepherds to help teach us, guide us, watch over & pray for us during His temporary, physical absence from us on this side of the grave (pastors/ministers, elders) .. see Hebrews 13:17; 1 Peter 5:5.

Finally, one of the best ways to find a church that holds the Bible in high regard (which is what I recommend for you) is to ask the pastor of the churches that you visit whether or not he considers the Bible to be both infallible and inerrant, just FYI. That's a good starting point anyway.

About that, while parts of the Christian faith (particularly becoming a Christian) are simple (easier than most or perhaps all other religions, actually), there are many aspects of the Christian faith that are not so easy/require quite a bit of study/prayer/thought (and sometimes patience), and more often than not, the seeking of His help.

However, the good news is that you can relax and take your time, all the time that you need because, as a believer, you came into possession of "eternal life" from the moment that you first believed :)

God bless you!! (1 Thessalonians 5:23-24)

~Deuteronomy (David)
p.s. - the Lord Jesus spoke pretty clearly about this in the following verse,

John 5
24 Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, ~has~ eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.
.

One last thing, you will run into MANY different teachings in your walk, some that may make you think (at first blush anyway) that Christianity must have gotten it wrong, but don't get stressed about any of these things (that may leave you wondering about God/His word/the Christian faith), because I can promise you, after walking as a Christian for 40+ years and experiencing such things many, many times, there is an answer(s) for every question that you have (y)

So, just write down the questions that you have and bring them to your pastor or to another mature Christian, and/or bring them back here and talk to us about them.

As the Lord Jesus told us, "you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free" (John 8:32).

God bless you!! (Psalm 119:105; Proverbs 3:5-6)

~Deuteronomy

Psalm 1
1 HOW blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked,
Nor stand in the path of sinners,
Nor sit in the seat of scoffers!
2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD,
And in His law he meditates day and night.
3 And he will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water,
Which yields its fruit in its season,
And its leaf does not wither;
And in whatever he does, he prospers.
.

I trust the King James Bible as the Inspired Word of God.. I often quote it in here in my posts.. When i first became a Christian around 35 years ago i read a New King James version Bible from start to finish. The NKJV Bible has differences to the KJV Bible..

I do not have extensive experience with other Bibles.. The Only ""popular"" Bible that causes me concern is the New International Version, NIV..

Of course there are many terrible false Bible versions out there like the one's that Jehovah's witnesses and Mormons use.. But i avoid them and the others like the plague..

Services at Melissa Scott's church, Faith Center in Glendale, CA, are private and require a reservation, lol. Security guards the place like Fort Knox and chases away anyone who sets one foot on their property; very Christian. It seems like a cult to me.

They called Jesus and His followers a cult also.
