A word born in the shadows
And meant to be cool
It now is quite bellicose
with shade as its tool

A vague little hint
Of something offensive
Make those that hear it
to be quite defensive
I showed this to a friend of mine and they guessed ice. But then they said they know what it is, but I'm going to try to figure it out.

I would be entirely impressed if he does know it. Ice is a good guess and fitting the present occasion (and it also seems to fit the puzzle), but it is not the password.
I will offer a more helpful clue, that would pretty much give you the answer, if you'd like.

Alice of Burton, when asked and said, "Um..."
She added then quickly where she was from.

No, you dont need to give any hints. I can tell he knows what it is. you should leave it as is.

I just noticed the current total online count is 6,666 with the member count 66 and guest count 6600
...and this post # is...
 Put on the armor!

Probably fits right in with the current password...

:D

Idk, maybe.
It was an interesting 'word of the day' recently, and I like learning new words, and their etymology.
I'm going to try and incorporate it into my vocabulary IRL.

It is a thing
of one that takes
though not in hand
but nerves it rakes

Her puzzle clues are often misunderstood, much to her ____.

My buddy told me what it is, so I can't guess it. You're 2nd hint confirmed he was right.

What's the "It is a thing" four lines? Is that a different puzzle or a 3rd hint?

The third hint.
Go ahead and guess it.
I don't know how many guessers have seen Burton's Alice in Wonderland.

Interestingly enough - I do not believe that I have ever actually watched Alice in Wonderland - seen short clips here and there at different times, but never actually watched the whole thing from start to finish. And, I am talking about the original Disney version from long ago - do not even think I know about any other versions.

I always had a difficult time with movies keeping me interested long enough to watch from start to finish, but I enjoyed this one, thoroughly.
"Have I gone mad?"
"I'm afraid so. You're entirely bonkers. But I will tell you a secret. All the best people are."

So in this game, a person thinks of something for a password. Everyone asks questions to try to figure out what the password is. One hint is given.when the password is guessed, the person who got it correct is now the person who comes up with a new password.I will start with an easy one-Hint: I am cold and need to stay in your fridge
Easy? Who would have guessed the answer to the first question was a mobility scooter.😂😂😂

Okay - since you basically had to give it to us - 'umbrage'.
Brilliant!
Umbrage is correct.
It started out meaning a shadow, or shade, offering cover and protection, sharing the root with 'umbrella.'
But has morphed into the modern language as meaning an offense or annoyance.

Thank you @GaryA for providing the umbrage!

born _____
_____ chance
duck _____
_____ faith
flying _____

Not the word I would use...

I am offended and annoyed that such a word would dare to morph into a meaning so offensive and annoying. :p
