You can think on your own. Sure. We all should.
AFTER being taught correct doctrine.
After learning sound doctrine you will need no man to teach you what to think for yourself utilizing the benefits of the sound doctrine.
Problem is. You cut out God's provision for storing up the needed truth to think for yourself with.
What you say may sound "religious" to someone uninformed.
But it is dumb how you are handling it.
You are not reading a Bible.
You are reading a translation.
Mistakes in intended meanings are easily missed unless someone can show you what the translator was working with.
You want to stop being stupid?
Get a good teacher.
If you think you are self-sufficient?
Don't need good teachers?
That was the sin of Satan.
This much we can know from a decent translation:
Isaiah 55:8-9
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,”
declares the Lord.
“As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.
For those who have been taught well?
You come across as dumb.
Not wise.
Be careful of the voice in your head that guides you....
It is not the Holy Spirit.
