I have never really understood this. It's not that I personally go out of my way to make or even attack my enemies, they usually come after me to pick a fight or try and trip me up and I just avoid them. Is this blessing them? I do what King David did and run because they have been mean. But if I were to bless them, like actually bless them, then I guess I would have to know what they want first. but they want me dead or destroyed. I cant do that! LOL.
Can anyone explain what it means to bless enemies.? especially as I just cant trust them enough to even have a conversation with them anymore.
Rom 13:10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.
There is no difference in loving people whether good or bad that we want the best for them regardless of how they treat us.
The world tells their enemies go to hell.
But a saint tells their enemies go to heaven.
Mat 5:38 Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:
Mat 5:39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.
Rev 13:10 He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.
Contrary to what some people believe a saint is not to fight back when attacked because then they are acting like the world which is not love.
Mat 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you.
Mat 5:46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?
Mat 5:47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?
Mat 5:48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
Rom 12:19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.
Rom 12:20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.
Rom 12:21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.
We are to want the best for our enemies wanting them to have their needs met and eternal life and not want evil to befall them.
Rom 13:1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
Rom 13:2 Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.
2Ti 3:12 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
No power can rule unless God allows.
People will be persecuted which God is allowing it.
If God is allowing it who are you to fight against it.
Isa 31:4 For thus hath the LORD spoken unto me, Like as the lion and the young lion roaring on his prey, when a multitude of shepherds is called forth against him, he will not be afraid of their voice, nor abase himself for the noise of them: so shall the LORD of hosts come down to fight for mount Zion, and for the hill thereof.
Isa 31:5 As birds flying, so will the LORD of hosts defend Jerusalem; defending also he will deliver it; and passing over he will preserve it.
The 6 day war, 1967, when Israeli fighter pilots paved the way to win the war and take control of Jerusalem.
Luk 3:14 And the soldiers likewise demanded of him, saying, And what shall we do? And he said unto them, Do violence to no man, neither accuse any falsely; and be content with your wages.
Some people justify war as being from God because of David and Goliath and He allowed Israel to fight physically.
But the truth is Israel is the only nation that is justified to war if it is to protect their land and people.
If they do abide by the New Testament then they cannot fight.
John the Baptist told the soldiers to do violence to no man.
Heb 12:14 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord.
Rom 12:18 If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.
We are to follow peace with all people.
But there are levels of love that we will show for not all people will get equal affection but we still have to follow peace with them.
Some people we can hug.
Some people we can shake their hand but do not want to hug them.
Some people we can say hello but do not want to shake their hand or hug them.
Some people we cannot get along with them but that is on their part or at least should be.
