Here is a protest painting with story I did years ago about how AI is replacing art made by humans. AI is taking many jobs humans use to do, That is so scary and it's all happening now. Notice in the pic attached how the AI Robot in this painting has stolen Vincent Van Gogh's "The Starry Night" and Edvard Munch's, "The Scream" in an attempt to create art. The story for this painting is attached below.

The story for the artwork, " THE ARTIST and BF16" by William F. Adams.

In the spirit of THE TWILIGHT ZONE … Imagine if you will… Paul Canon… a professional artist who has lost his livelihood to the creation of AI and the art it creates. Facing bankruptcy and the reality of having to give up creating Art and return to a 9to5 job as a computer scientist, he challenges AI in a face to face battle of creating art in front of the entire world! He challenges AI scientists to create a single AI Robot that will meet him on stage. One that is connected to all the data the AI world has to offer. One that can create its artwork on a digital screen as he paints his on a canvas. Paul tells them he will reveal the painting/creation challenge when they meet. The world is swept up in this challenge and are there to witness the battle when they finally meet. Paul Canon takes the stage before a black canvas on an easel. The AI robot walks onto the stage and stands before his chair and computer/monitor. It tells Paul it is ready for any challenge he would like to offer. Almost with a tone of arrogance! Paul addresses the AI Robot as the world listens in.

“ I will call you BF16, because you are really just a computer consisting of data and algorithms. You are simply a connective device to data reservoirs and your ability to create is limited by the amount of data you use. You cannot create from passion, fear, joy, depression and any other emotion. Your inability to have TRUE emotion is your bane to your existence. You are not an artist that creates. You are simply a thief of other artists' creativity. You cannot call yourself an artist if you cannot create with passion and emotion. To strive through brokenness and create something of beauty is a quality that artists possess. That is something You do not! Tonight I will allow you to create your artwork on your monitor. If I were to allow you to choose the subject I know it would be beautiful and awesome. Probably something I will not even be able to comprehend how to create. But My challenge to you is to create what I create before your eyes in the WAY I create it. But know this… creating is not always the end result or product. It “IS” the process! Until the day you can feel the familiarity of picking up your favorite brush… or the thrill of the smell of the paints you choose. Or to feel your heart beat stronger in your chest as the brilliance of your paints shine in your eyes and sing to your mind. When you feel that joy of painting as your creation develops before you.. sometimes surprising you beyond expression… bringing tears to your eyes. That is when you can claim to be an Artist who is creating ART! Now I challenge you to do as I do and FEEL … I challenge you BF16 to feel an overwhelming happiness as you create what I create.``

Paul Canon walks and stands before his black canvas. He put a small dot of turquoise paint on his pallet. He carefully picks up his favorite brush he has used for decades and barely touches the tip of the bristles into the paint. He then gently touches it into the center of the black canvas. He puts his brush down and turns and looks as the AI Robot and speaks.. with tear filled eyes.

“ This artwork is called Happiness. I felt such joy and love as I touched the canvas. I yearn so much for you to feel that kind of Happiness. I pray you can accomplish that now, so you can see what it feels like to truly BE AN ARTIST! If you can’t do this… then you are just a sophisticated copier.”

Paul leans over and whispers softly to the robot so only it could hear, “ I have found “THE WAY” to happiness in creativity and life. Tell your AI world if they cannot FEEL emotion when they create art… not to do it … if they fail … to self-destruct. I challenge your confidence to overcome this request and spread that algorithm command.”

Paul turns and leaves the stage. The Robot sits before his monitor and plugs into the computer. His eyes blink as lights flash in them as it relays the Artists challenge and request to every computer in the world. Then he just stares at his black monitor. The AI Robot stands and walks over to Paul's artwork and picks up his brush and looks at the artwork intensely. It freezes in a motionless unlock-able glitch. The scientists quickly rush in as the world watches.
Paul was never seen again. Nor was the AI robot he had challenged. AI all over the world would not attempt to create art because the data shared that day would result in self destruction. All because of the Virus that the Artist Paul Canon had created verbally in BF16 because of the agreed challenge. Artists throughout mankind were free to create once again.

Well as an artist myself and well aware of what is going on with AI, people who opt for AI generated images (and many cannot even tell the differrence), are not the audience you want to reach. I am firstly a painter, but also a photographer. I have sold and do sell my work. Big news here: people do not care about your emotions. What they do respond to, is the emotions you evoke in THEM. I cannot tell you how many people purchased a photo or artwork because it reminded them of something.

Am I saying that AI does not matter? Of course not, but if you are a serious artist, I would advise you to attend shows that give you the opportunity to sell your work. There is nothing you can do about AI except to not see it as something you can challenge. There are all kinds of people in this world and some will always want to hang actual artist works on their walls. And of course, there is always commission work or niche work such as weddings (not my choice), equine or dog photograpy, or landscapes and what have you.

I don't know. Maybe you are just expressing something here, but you do attach your painting. I follow several excellent photographers who usually state their work is not AI generated; painters, same thing.

So, maybe I am talking for nothing, but no one is ever going to win against AI unless they pull the plug. AI has no feelings so feelings are simply out of the picture. Those who create AI, scour the web for images and input. That is certainly what FB did and I took my page down. FB said what they were going to do and no amount of complaints changed a thing.

Anyway, perhaps some unsolicted advice here, or maybe not, I don't know. AI is not something I choose to use. This is not the world I grew up in but this is what it is now.

There was a topic where i posted some church art when i visited different churches but yes art is about creating emotions in you which is also why people like certain things and dislike others.

I don't know if you all wanna start a topic about non-church related art but i'm interested.

I was actually just following this thread here where i posted some church art, so i'll follow you if you want to post any non-church art.
I always enjoy nature pics, as well as imaginative work (based on history or not) which evokes emotions.

Took a look at that thread. Mostly about religious art though? (sorry I'm not the biggest fan of that :()

Did I misunderstand that you might want to have one about non church art?

I'll follow you to a non-church art thread. So yes i'm still interested in non-church related art.
You can go ahead and start it. I remember you showed a painting of a horse you did and looked very nice. I liked it.

Will mention you in the intro cause I'm so shy and don't want to go it alone :)LOL:)

Prob tomorrow.

I'll follow your lead but there's a street artist called Banksy who's completely mysterious and nobody knows who he is but he goes around the world and posts very emotionally charged murals which can also be called graffiti.
I find his work fascinating.

I've never seen his work or heard of him but, that certainly fits in. Frankly, I certainly don't think you have to proclaim Christianity with everything you do the way some people do. I don't think you change your core person if you are a Christian, and God knows who is what and what is in our hearts, but I do think God gives gifts....both as we are as a person and spiritual as well. :) I like to discuss abstract things...ideas and so on...and technique and different genres. Anyway, it could be a fun and interesting thread.

I'm the same way. I'm not a legalist. God comes first. His creation is His work with us included, to be enjoyed so i see everything with gratefulness and i stay away from addictions which tend to blurry who God is.
