We know the 10 commandments are not part of the law contained in ordinances in Col 2:14 so that makes it clear that the sabbath referred to in verse 16 is not referring to the 10 commandments.
No, “we” do not know that. It’s your view.

The 7th day Sabbath rest was set up and made holy before sin had entered. It was not a shadow of things to come.
Yes it is: our eternal rest in Jesus.

Now although God's rest on the seventh day (Genesis 2:3) did foreshadow a future sabbath law, there is no Biblical record of the sabbath being kept before the children of Israel left the land of Egypt. *Nowhere in Scripture is there any hint that sabbath keeping was practiced from Adam to Moses.

2 simple question

Was the 7th day blessed and sanctified from the start or not?
And was it blessed and sanctified for the next 3 thousand years?

The law was given as 10 commandments not 9 not 2, but people like to say they were nailed to the cross then resurrect the ones that they agree with.

Not Murdering is still a moral law..

But as soon as you talk about the sabbath.... everything changes and the arguments come to justify not keeping this law.

Not murdering is the law of Moses. Not hating is the law of Christ. If you do the law of Christ the law of Moses will automatically be kept, so no need to follow the law of Moses

Observing weekly sabbaths in order to know that God was sanctifying Israel is the law of Moses. Knowing through the inward witness of the holy spirit that God is sanctifying us is the law of Christ. If you do the law of Christ the law of Moses will automatically be kept, so no need to follow the law of Moses

No, “we” do not know that. It’s your view.

Yes it is: our eternal rest in Jesus.
But sin was not present and i do not believe God was setting up shadows of redemption before sin was present.

If it is a shadow of our eternal rest in Jesus, then it is an eternal rest.

You say it is my view but there a simple way to show that PAUL was not saying that the 10 commandments were nailed to the cross..

Paul said...
Rom 3:31 Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.
Rom 5:13-14
13 (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law. 14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses,...
Death reigned = sin = transgression of the law..

Rom 7:7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.... 11 For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me. 12 Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good....22 For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:

Rom 8:3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
Rom 8:4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Rom 13:9 For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

LOVE IS THE FULFILLING OF THE LAW...
If Paul believed the 10 commandments were nailed to the cross why did he say all this about the law?

I not only believe --- I follow Jesus Christ, I obey my Master, I walk that ONE Perfect Way. Christ said follow ME and I do. I keep the days He kept and the laws He kept.

He has paid my penalty of death for my sins I am now free from that penalty, no longer "Under" the penalty of death. I am on that narrow path into the Kingdom/government of God that is coming to this earth. I left this evil world behind and want no part in it. I am still in this world but not of it or the 40,000 flavors and their confusing doctrines of men .
"If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us." -- I John 1:8 ESV

The seventh day was blessed and sanctified from the start (Genesis 2:3) and for the next 3,000 years and Christ is the ultimate reality that the weekly sabbath pointed to, offering true spiritual rest. Christians find their 'sabbatismos' rest in Jesus Christ (Hebrews 4:9) in contrast with keeping the weekly sabbath day under the law.

Can you see how you have made this commandment useless..
God said remember the sabbath day to keep it holy..

holy means to be set apart, sacred, and dedicated to God or a divine purpose,
sanctified means to set it aside for holy use.
Blessed means made holy and consecrated.

These blessings were put on the day.

To keep that day holy.

No place are we told to stop and no place in the bible is this blessing removed.

True we find rest in Jesus but Heb 4:9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.

And the word for rest in verse 9 is the only place that sabbath is used.

The sabbath day commandment was not useless and had its purpose for the Israelites.

Exodus 20:8 - Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.

Who was God addressing?

Exodus 20:2 - I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. The Israelites.

Exodus 31:12 - And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 13 “Speak also to the children of Israel, saying: ‘Surely My Sabbaths you shall keep, for it is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I am the Lord who sanctifies you. 14 You shall keep the Sabbath, therefore, for it is holy to you. Everyone who profanes it shall surely be put to death; for whoever does any work on it, that person shall be cut off from among his people. 15 Work shall be done for six days, but the seventh is the Sabbath of rest, holy to the Lord. Whoever does any work on the Sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death. 16 Therefore the children of Israel shall keep the Sabbath, to observe the Sabbath throughout their generations as a perpetual covenant. 17 It is a sign between Me and the children of Israel forever; for in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day He rested and was refreshed.’ ”

Deuteronomy 5:15 - And remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and the Lord your God brought you out from there by a mighty hand and by an outstretched arm; therefore the Lord your God commanded you to keep the Sabbath day.

You are correct mailmandan.

If you believed Moses, you would believe me, for he wrote about me (John 5:46).

Deuteronomy 18:15 Prophet like Moses.

Symbolic events such as the Passover Lamb, the Bronze Serpent, and manna from heaven (all Torah).

Genesis 22:8
Abraham said, “God will provide for Himself the lamb for the burnt offering, my son.”

For whom was the law written? Jesus was the only one to ever fulfill the law and the prophets.

Deuteronomy 16:1-8 This passage establishes the Passover as a "lasting ordinance" to be celebrated
in the place the Lord chooses, which Jesus fulfills as the ultimate Passover lamb.

Of course, Jesus fulfilled the seventh day sabbath.

Jesus fulfilled the entire law and the prophets that's what He came to do.

Matthew 5:17
Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill.

Jesus fulfilled the two greatest commandments by loving His Father and His neighbor also.

Circumcision, water baptism, The High Priest, Christ within (temple), etc., all fulfilled.

To say Jesus did not fulfill the sabbath is a blatant heresy.

To say that Jesus only fulfilled the ceremonial law is a lie.

Fulfilling the Law and the Prophets is not ceremonial law!

the Father is calling and bringing the Bride of Christ into perfection, into ONE with the Father and the Son,
There is ONE Body -- ONE Congregation -- in one accord, all speaking the same thing --- no division.

Being "Born From Above" occurs at the First Resurrection, That ONE Spirit is in me but I am not 'born' as yet.
That is where you are entirely wrong. Being born again is right here and now. It is the spiritual rebirth.
1 Peter 1:1-5
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! By His great mercy He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, reserved in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God’s power for the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.

Titus 3:5
He saved us, not by the righteous deeds we had done, but according to His mercy, through the washing of new birth and renewal by the Holy Spirit.

1 John 5:1
Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God, and everyone who loves the Father also loves those born of Him.

If you are not born again, it no wonder that the Bible makes no sense to you. Spiritual things are spiritually understood.

1 Corinthians 2:12-14
We have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us. And this is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom, but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words. The natural man does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God. For they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.…

I suggest that you get born again right now. You do not want to be judged as one who is not born again. The second death awaits those who are not born again in this life.

Jesus is Lord of the sabbath not a fulfillment of it.

No Bible verse states that Jesus is the Sabbath.

Because Jesus gives us rest, freedom, salvation from sin does not mean Jesus has replaced the literal 24 hour sabbath rest that was made holy at creation.

He said it was made for man and that He is Lord of it. He did not say he became the sabbath.

You agree that the 7th day (Saturday) was made holy, blessed and sanctified at creation and was holy up until the law was give and up until the cross..

No other 24 hour day was made holy.
What did it mean to be holy?
It means to be set apart, sacred, and dedicated to God or a divine purpose, ....

Holy things in the bible were set apart..

Exo 3:5 And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground. Act 7:33 Then said the Lord to him, Put off thy shoes from thy feet: for the place where thou standest is holy ground.

Eze 22:8 Thou hast despised mine holy things, and hast profaned my sabbaths.

When it is Holy it is important not to defile it.
Exo 16:23 ...To morrow is the rest of the holy sabbath unto the LORD:...
HOLY SABBATH.

Exo 31:15 Six days may work be done; but in the seventh is the sabbath of rest, holy to the LORD:...
HOLY TO THE LORD.

I would be careful when you walk all over the HOLY SABBATH DAY, and treat it with no respect. Don't defile what God has made holy.
No verse shows that the Sabbath is no longer Holy.

Mar 10:9 What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.

This verse is referring to marriage but it can apply to anything God has put together. Marriage was set in place at creation and so was the Holy Sabbath day.

Let no man put asunder what God has set in place.

Heb 8:10 KJV For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:

Jer 31:31-33
31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: 32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD: 33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.

Jesus kept all the laws perfectly.
Keeping them does not mean they are removed.

Fulfilling the laws does not remove them when they are not a type.

Types were overshadowed by Christ.

The shadows were replaced by the real thing. Passover was just a shadow.
The Earthly sanctuary was a shadow of the heavenly sanctuary.

Like an object lesson of the comming Christ.

The Sabbath was not a type of the coming Christ. Christ was Lord of the Sabbath and the Sabbath was made for mankind before sin entered.

Because I have rest in my bed each night, that does not make it a type of Christ.

Yes, every other place in the Bible the Sabbath is used. In Heb4:9 they say Sabbath-keeping why it’s a different word. This verse Heb4:9 literally translates into there remains a Sabbath-keeping for the people of God.

Original Word: σαββατισμός
Part of Speech: Noun, Masculine
Transliteration: sabbatismos
Pronunciation: sab-bat-is-mos'
Phonetic Spelling: (sab-bat-is-mos')
sabbatismos: Sabbath rest
Definition: Sabbath rest
Meaning:
a keeping of the Sabbath, a Sabbath rest

I didn't feel like my last sentence was very clear ..... I'm repeating what SabbathBlessing said

The word rest is used many times in chapter 4 of Hebrews, but the word in verse 9 is not the same. The word in verse 9 is sabbatismos (See the post above).. and is sabbath rest, or keeping the sabbath. This is important because there remains a sabbath rest.
It didn't say there remains a rest.

The other word for rest is ... G2663
Transliteration: katapausis
Thayer Definition:
= a putting to rest
calming of the winds
a resting place
metaphorically the heavenly blessedness in which God dwells.

There remains a sabbath for the people of God.

I repented of transgressing God's Holy Torah, I was baptized and by the "laying on of Hands", one of the major doctrines of Christ. my Father put His Spirit in me over 50 years ago.

I have had many trials and many blessing over those 50 years and I am still working on coming out of this evil world. My Father has been at my side the entire time, He never gave up on me. At my lowest point my Father never left me.

I am being judged now, my Father has placed HIS ONE Spirit in me which gives me the willingness and the power to follow Jesus Christ. and long as I endure this evil world and DO the will of my Father, at the return I will become a member of the Family of God -- a Son.

Why would judgement come after I am resurrected? Why give any eternal life unless they qualify? the Father will not have another like Satan, who refuses to obey -- in His Family

The first Resurrection is for those that have endured until the end, Like Paul states, I have run my race and am ready and my Crown is sure. Paul knew he was assured of eternal life in the Family of God, "not word for word"

My Father has opened my mind to His Word and I understand the Perfect Plan He is working out here on earth. I understand it is the FEW that are given to understand -- not two billion.

I do not, nor will I ever === follow any of the contradicting doctrines of the 40,000.

Finding our 'sabbatismos' rest in Christ does not mean that Jesus became the sabbath day and is the sabbath day. Hebrews 4:9-10 presents Jesus as the fulfillment of the sabbath rest. So, there remains a sabbath rest for the people of God. For whoever enters God's rest also rests from his own work, just as God did from His. This signifies that through Christ, believers can experience a spiritual rest that transcends the physical rest through the observance of a day. While the Old Testament laws served as a foreshadowing of Christ's ultimate reality, the substance and fulfillment of spiritual life is found in Christ.

Hebrews 4:10 says the one who has entered His rest has himself also rested from his works, as God did from His. Believers have entered in God’s rest through Jesus as God ceased or rested from His works in the seventh day of creation. God's ultimate, true rest did not come through Joshua or Moses, but through Jesus Christ. Joshua led Israel into the promised land, which was merely the earthly rest which was but a shadow of what was involved in the heavenly rest. The rest in Christ that God offers is spiritual and is superior to that which Joshua obtained. Israel's earthly rest was filled with conflict and attacks from their enemies and the daily cycle of work.

Although for centuries the Jews had found their physical rest in a day, the New Covenant takes the focus off the shadows of the Old Testament signs and rituals and reveals their spiritual substance -- the fulfillment/reality—in the person of Jesus Christ. (Colossians 2:16-17) Christians find their "sabbatismos" rest in Jesus Christ and not in law keeping.

In Colossians 2:16-17, we read that these are a shadow of things to come, but the substance belongs to Christ. The Colossian church faced pressure from folks who promoted Jewish legalism as a means to achieve spiritual fulfillment. These individuals likely insisted on strict adherence to dietary laws, observance of festivals, new moon celebrations and sabbath keeping. Jesus offers believers rest from their labors and reconciliation with God, moving beyond the old covenant of law to a new covenant of spiritual rest in Christ.
