You never know Genez; I may scale those dizzy heights and stand next to you.

You take it as an insult.

It is a fact that Christians are living in different levels of spiritual understanding.

Why do you think we begin as "babes in Christ?"

It has nothing to do with human maturity per se.
A person can be saved for over 40 years and still be a babe in Christ.

What you were telling me indicated it would require several hours (not simple posts) to show you what you would need to know to get us on the same page)...

Insult? Or, honest?

I just did not want to argue for that reason.

You never know Genez; I may scale those dizzy heights and stand next to you.

Not dizzy. The most stabilized state of mind one can have on this earth.

But, not always right.

Super grace AKA Greater grace.
That is the goal.

That all sounds very nice.
But, where are you going to get the needed truth of Scripture from?

How are you going to know what to do when real testing comes?
(if you ever will qualify for real testing, that is)

That is all there is to it?

That was said in ignorance?

Jesus replied, “It’s written, People won’t live only by bread,
but by every word spoken by God.” Matthew 4:4

We need to find an excellent teacher of God's Word!
Very few out of the many Bible teachers out there will so qualify!

James 3:1 + 2 Timothy 4:3.

Many will be teaching what they sense others want to hear.
Not what they need to hear.
I’m not saying not to read the Bible or study scripture. What I’m saying is don’t spend your life studying about something you were meant to act out. Take the time to go out and act out the love that He commands us to have for one another.

Every word spoken by the mouth of the Lord. Yes quoted from Deut 8:3. Not every word spoken by the mouth of Peter, Paul, Billy Graham, R.C. Sproul or any other. He will provide if you walk in His ways following His commandments. We can learn from all others but we have to make sure we aren’t following some Bible teacher instead of Christ.

So if you find a great teacher how will you know if he is great besides comparing him to what he is supposed to be teaching you. The ones that qualify for you won’t qualify for another. We already have the Teacher living inside us and we have the same texts that all others have.

I’m just saying that spending your life studying and learning scripture isn’t what it’s about. The Lord doesn’t look at the brain, He looks at the heart. It doesn’t matter how much scripture you can cite nor if you are fluent in Greek and Hebrew. There’s not gonna be a 20 page bible test to get in. None of it matters if you haven’t loved Him and loved your neighbor. Simple. No need to overanalyze it.

Jesus did not give his disciples the golden rule to follow. The Golden rule is for all society, nit just believers.

This is what Jesus told the Church...

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you,
so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you
are my disciples, if you love one another." John 13:34-35

That command does not amount to the sunshine and roses you have been assuming it to always be.

For?
This is how Jesus needed to "love" Peter at one point:

Matthew 16:21-23

Jesus Predicts His Death...
From that time on Jesus began to explain to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem
and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of
the law, and that he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life.

Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. “Never, Lord!” he said. “This shall never
happen to you!” (Peter sounded so sweet?)

Jesus turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me;
you do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.”

You don't like that when the Holy Spirit works that way?
Carnal believers can be nasty.
Mature believers may cut to the bone when need be.

That is why Jesus needed to add the following to what He said after rebuking Peter.

Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves
and take up their cross and follow me."

Hurt feelings don't count anymore when we are being correctly rebuked.

For the church is to self police ourselves when need be!

If you are off about something?
You are to have it made known.

If it is a wrongly way to be wrong?
In some cases...
Rebuked like Jesus loved Peter in his rebuke.

grace and peace .........

Not sure what any of that had to do with my post besides proving that many overanalyze. I’ll put it this way. If you spend more time studying the gospel than you do sharing the gospel then there may be an issue there. He didn’t command us to study, He commanded us to share and act upon it.

The Gospel is simply the maternity ward for Christianity.
Much of it covers the OT thinking Jesus was to deliver us from.

Hopefully, we should be learning from God-given good pastor-teachers, Genesis to the book of Revelation.
Sad to say.
Too few qualify for the job these days.

For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine.
Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number
of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.

Reading from a translation? You'll die in boredom.

We do not see individuals asking the question “if God knew I was going to be an atheist or go to hell before I was born, can I change the outcome?”

The reason why we do not is because no one in the Bible who got saved believed that they couldn’t be saved.

Can we change the outcome of going from lost to saved? Or is our eternal fate set in stone?
God is a redeemer, and so wants to begin and develop a deep loving relationship with the creatures He made to love Him and others, that He is always ready to forgive.
Psa 51:17
The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.

No one's acceptance or rejection can be set in stone, if the character of God is to seek reconciliation, and He will not despise the contrite sinner. However, there are many Christians who are far less forgiving and gracious than God is, who would slam the door shut on some.

But how can the outcome be changed (I believe it can be) if the Lord already knows the outcome? I’m not a Calvinist, and am not looking to argue, it’s a sincere question I have.
Just think of future history the same as past history. You can't change what you did in the past, but you shaped it at the time. So, no, your eternal state isn't set in stone; but once you get there it will have been set - by you.

One verse comes to mine "And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me. "

This is like asking a 4y old to build a Computer. Were talking about something no one fully understands....even the angels in heaven wonder about all this
"Concerning this salvation, the prophets, who spoke of the grace that was to come to you, searched intently and with the greatest care, trying to find out the time and circumstances to which the Spirit of Christ in them was pointing when he predicted the sufferings of the Messiah and the glories that would follow. It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves but you, when they spoke of the things that have now been told you by those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. Even angels long to look into these things. "

Is one’s eternal fate set in stone?

No, so called "once saved always saved" aka "eternal security" is false doctrine aka doctrines of demons

If a believer joins a biblical church and is faithful, they have greater rewards in heaven than a saved person who isn't faithful

So if a person goes to a physical building to hear false doctrine, they get rewards for that??? clueless-scratching.gif

I'll bet the devil will reward them for listening to false doctrine and being converted to heresy

I wrote these things to you concerning the ones leading you astray. And the anointing which you received from Him abides in you, and you have no need that anyone teach you. But as his anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and as He taught you, abide in Him. 1 John 2:26-27

Not a building.. a local of believers could have no roof over their head.

But a biblical local body would have a pastor with a biblical message, led by God with a message particularly for the congregation.

A believer not regularly meeting with a local body would miss this key teaching

And if all the churches in your area are teaching false doctrine one must decide if they should sit under false doctrine or heed God's warnings about not sitting under false doctrine and not be a part of any congregations that teach false doctrine.

Yes we should desire to not forsake the gathering of ourselves, but at the same time that's not always possible if all the churches in your area teach false doctrine.

In that case the Lord is very well able to teach someone apart from belonging to a local congregation

That sounds fine in theory...

Here is the major problem we all face today...

For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit
their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what
their itching ears want to hear. 2 Timothy 4:3

And, the solution?

Not many of you should become teachers, my fellow believers, because you know that we
who teach will be judged more strictly. James 3:1

And, how many good teachers out of the many could we find?

“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction
(false teachers), and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life,
and only a few find it. Matthew 7:13-14
God will provide only a few for every generation.

Those led of the Spirit... truly led (only a few)... will find a good teacher.

The Prodigal Son was lost but then he was found.

But you see the false teachers in the OSAS movement claim he was never saved to start with

In fact, based on their faulty logic, if these people had a potted plant on their front porch when you went to visit them and it was normal looking but next time you visited it was a dead plant, they will tell you "No, that plant was never alive to begin with" rolleyes2.gif

That's how they roll, in error!

Yeah, they'll find the Holy Ghost Who is THE Teacher Jesus sent to lead us in to ALL Truth and God's Word IS Truth

Jesus said the Holy Ghost would lead us in to ALL Truth (John 16:13),
and Jesus said God's Word IS Truth (John 17:17)

Even if you find a man that is a "good teacher" not everything he teaches is going to be correct so you still need to look to the Holy Spirit as your Teacher. He comes first.

Leading them to teach what it is you do not even know you do not know.
