So will you deny that salvation is a free gift?

I need you to state what it is you believe.

Is salvation a free gift or not!

You've had free gifts before that only worked if you used them, right?

What is the point of having the free gift of salvation if you don't use it the way God wants you to? If you don't, it's just like putting it on a shelf collecting dust - it won't save you that way, because that's not the way it works.

The covenant that God made in Exodus 34, including the 10 commandments, was made ONLY with the Jewish nation. It was not a covenant with the gentiles. When Moses is speaking in Deuteronomy 4:13, who was he talking to? He said, “ He declared to YOU His covenant…” who is the YOU to whom God declared the covenant? He was talking to the Nation of Jews. He address “Israel” in the first verse of chapter 4, “Oh ISRAEL listen…” and in chapter 5, “ Moses called all ISRAEL and said to THEM, ‘Hear oh ISRAEL the statutes and judgements which I speak in your hearing today…”. Then notice what he says in verse 2;
“THE LORD OUR GOD MADE A COVENANT WITH US ( Israel) IN HOREB. THE LORD DID NOT MAKE THIS COVENANT WITH OUR FATHERS, BUT WITH US, THOSE WHO ARE HERE TODAY, ALL OF US WHO ARE ALIVE.”

I agree that the 10 commandments are part of that covenant that He made with the Jews. There is abundant evidence of that. What most people do not understand is that He only made it with the Jewish nation and not all people everywhere. The Jews were God’s chosen people. If God made this covenant with ALL nations of people , then how does that make them “special”, chosen? They would be no different than any one else. Deuteronomy 4:5-6, Moses makes the argument that it is this very covenant that God makes with them that will cause all of the OTHER nations to say, “Surely this nation is a wise and understanding people.” The Jews were the only ones who had God’s covenant. It was between them and God.

You might wonder why this is significant. It’s significant because gentiles were never part of this covenant. It was not their covenant. It did not govern them. Some of God’s laws concerning morality have been present since the beginning of time. Murder, stealing abd other laws of morality were in place and taught by godly men long before Exodus 20. So some gentiles practiced morality—not because of the 10 commandments but because it was a universal law. From the beginning.

An Old Testament story in 1 Samuel 4-6 illustrates the fact that the laws of the covenant did not apply to the gentiles ( unless they were proselytes.). The Philistines ( gentiles) had captured the Ark of God. God had commanded the Jews to not only not touch the ark but it had to be carried in such a way that no one ever touched it. It also was covered with a cloth; they were not to look into it. That was God’s law to the Jews. It was part of the covenant made in Mount Horeb. But the Philistines not only touched it and carried it from one city to another, and finally setting it on a cart, they also put offerings in it ( beside the chest) and they were not killed for touching it. That law was not given to them. It was a law for the Jews. When the ark got back to Israel, the people looked into the ark and God struck 50,000 of them dead—because they were told not to look into it or touch it. The Philistines were plagued when they had the ark because it was God’s ark—it did not belong to them and they had taken it, but He did not strike them dead for touching it. Why? The covenant that God made in Horeb with the nation of Israel was only for the Jews. It did not apply to the gentiles.

When Jesus came He brought that “New” covenant that Jeremiah 31:31 spoke of. In fact Hebrews 8 tells us very plainly that the New Testament is that “New” covenant that Jeremiah prophesied would come. He even quotes the exact prophecy of Jeremiah. Hebrews 7 says that God “CHANGED THE LAW.” The purpose of tge new law of Christ was to UNITE all people—not divide them. The old covenant given to the Jews divided Jews and gentiles. The new covenant “unites them, for we are all under the same law now—the law of Jesus Christ. Jesus says there is neither Jew nor Greek..,we are all one in Christ.

And the 10 commandments? All but one of them is incorporated into the new covenant. They are not written down in a list, but they are all in there except fir one—remember the 7 th day to keep it holy. That was strictly for the Jews. The new covenant has a new day to keep; it’s the day that our lord was raised from the dead, the day His Church began— the first day of the week. Acts 20:7, 1 Corinthians 16:1-2, Revelation 1.

You misunderstand what a covenant is. Yes, God gave the Sinai covenant to Israel, but the commandments inside it were never meant for Israel alone. They were given through Israel so all nations could learn God’s ways. God said this from the beginning. When Solomon prayed at the temple, he asked God to hear the prayers of the foreigner who came to seek Him so that all peoples of the earth may know His name (1 Kings 8:41 to 43). Isaiah said the same thing when he spoke of God’s house as a house of prayer for all nations (Isaiah 56:6 to 7). Jesus Himself repeated this verse when He cleansed the temple, showing it still applied.
Jesus also said that His word will judge all people, not only Israel (John 12:48). And He told the apostles to teach all nations to obey everything He commanded (Matthew 28:19 to 20). This shows that His commandments apply to everyone, both Jews and Gentiles.
As for the Sabbath, Jesus called Himself Lord of the Sabbath (Matthew 12:8). This only makes sense if the Sabbath belongs to all mankind, not just one nation. Jesus did not need to repeat the Sabbath command in a list, just as He did not repeat all the other commandments in a list. He spoke about God’s commands when the moment required it, and when He spoke about the Sabbath, He showed how to keep it with mercy, not how to cancel it. On the contrary, He affirmed it and openly declared Himself the Lord of the Sabbath. All the disciples kept it because they were Jewish and because this commandment was already known, practiced, and understood. Nothing Jesus ever said hinted that God erased a command He wrote with His own finger.
In short, the covenant was given through Israel, but its righteousness was meant for the whole world. Jesus did not lessen God’s commandments. He confirmed them and told all nations to keep His words.

So no sin before the 10 commandments? There are far lengthier descriptions of sin in scripture than just the commandments
Murder was sin at the time Cain killed Abel.
Adultery was a sin when Joseph ran from pharaohs wife.

Sabbath was made holy at creation.

They are all there ... and are principles that have not changed.

God gave them on stone because we needed a constant reminder of these principles.. on stone so we could not blot them out.

the added laws that would be removed, Witten in a book privately by Moses. Why did God write the 10 on stone in special, powerful circumstances if they were going to be removed like the other laws?

And His commands were to believe in Him and love the brethren.
yes but also a few more important teachings. when was the last time you read Matt, John, Mark and Luke? did you forget what Jesus was teaching? a lot of things and you are missing out or choose to ignore?

Not for becoming saved. It's a free gift. Or did you miss that or choosing to ignore it?
its simple, do what Jesus asked not only believe in him, i am serious. he gave His requirements for eternal life I am not kidding. His words were very clear when he explained this, you Must know this, do not miss out.

You misunderstand what a covenant is. Yes, God gave the Sinai covenant to Israel, but the commandments inside it were never meant for Israel alone. They were given through Israel so all nations could learn God’s ways.
You're dodging the main issue: God gave them to Israel and not to the other nations.

This doesn't mean the other nations were subject to the Law given to Israel.

Jesus also said that His word will judge all people, not only Israel (John 12:48). And He told the apostles to teach all nations to obey everything He commanded (Matthew 28:19 to 20). This shows that His commandments apply to everyone, both Jews and Gentiles.
The problem here is that you haven't established that Jesus intended to include the Law as given to Israel in "everything I commanded".

Further, if you can demonstrate that Jesus did in fact mean things commanded through Moses as well as what He commanded while in the flesh, then you must agree that it means the whole law, not just the "commandments". That's where your argument breaks apart into incoherence.

As for the Sabbath, Jesus called Himself Lord of the Sabbath (Matthew 12:8). This only makes sense if the Sabbath belongs to all mankind, not just one nation.
No, that does not follow... at all. The context was Jewish, not international.

In short, the covenant was given through Israel, but its righteousness was meant for the whole world. Jesus did not lessen God’s commandments. He confirmed them and told all nations to keep His words.
And that covenant ended at the cross, whereupon the new covenant in Christ's blood came into effect.

I'm curious: how do you manage your tithe? At which temple do you submit it? To which Levites do you present it?

When you have a skin illness, or black mould appears on your shower grout, where do you find a priest to inspect it?

It's simple: you should learn that we're saved by His grace alone and not by our works. Until you can believe that, you have no business
instructing anyone else on scripture or salvation.

Therefore, your salvation is a free gift?
I've answered your question... you are still avoiding mine.

So how were people saved before Christ?

Was salvation free in Abraham's and Moses' day. ???

You are fatally confused and you were taught an alternate gospel.

Salvation is a free gift and salvation has been a free gift for over 2,000 years.

It's a simple question..

🥳

We are focused on the primary reason for our salvation.

How you want to wear Christ's perfect righteousness is up to you.

There is a tremendous misunderstanding on this topic.

Lot's of Christians think their good works are part of the reason for their salvation.

Or their specific church entitles them (Catholics) to salvation.

Perhaps their rigid adherence to the law.

There was only one event and one name that grants eternal life.

So how were people saved before Christ?

1Peter 3
18 For Christ also suffered for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive in the Spirit, 19 in whom He also went and preached to the spirits in prison 20 who disobeyed long ago when God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ark was being built.

phulaké: Guard, watch, prison, custody
Original Word: φυλακή
Part of Speech: Noun, Feminine
Transliteration: phulaké
Pronunciation: foo-lak-ay'
Phonetic Spelling: (foo-lak-ay')
KJV: cage, hold, (im-)prison(-ment), ward, watch
NASB: prison, watch, prisons, imprisonments, guard, imprisonment, time of the night
Word Origin: [from G5442 (φυλάσσω - guard)]

1. a guarding
2. (concretely) guard (the act, the person)
3. (figuratively) the place, the condition
4. (specially) the time (as a division of day or night)
{literally or figuratively}

That He 'went and preached to the spirits in prison' wasn't necessarily limited to that 'time' of the days of Noah while the ark was being built, nor was the preaching necessarily limited to those that 'disobeyed' as eight souls 'listened' and obeyed and were saved, in that instance, by water.

The everlasting covenant is the eternal plan of redemption arranged between the Father and the Son from all eternity, serving as the foundation for both the old and new covenant times.
While these covenants are often discussed as separate entities, they are intrinsically linked by the same moral law and the same goal of restoring humanity to perfect obedience through the merits of Jesus Christ.

It is called everlasting because it is the only means of salvation provided for fallen man from the beginning to the close of probation. We are all saved by the same promise of grace.

Rev 13:8 .....the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

Acts 4:12
And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given
among men by which we must be saved
.

The gospel is once for all and across time and space.

The gospel
The free gift of grace
By faith

From the start of sin we have been saved the same way.

The obedience to the law was expected in all times. Adam's day, Noah's day, Abraham's day, Moses's day, David's day, Daniel's day, Jesus's day and in our day.

If all have been saved by grace how do you justify making the law void today?
Grace didn't make the law void at any other time in the past. And grace does not make the law void today.

From the start of sin we have been saved the same way.

The obedience to the law was expected in all times. Adam's day, Noah's day, Abraham's day, Moses's day, David's day, Daniel's day, Jesus's day and in our day.

There was no law until Moses. Obedience was faith in God's revealed will

For until law, sin was in the world; but sin was not charged, there not being law. Romans 5:13

Where does it say that the "ordinances", symbolic law, ceremonial law, was nailed to the cross?

You omitted the prophets.

Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

Looks like it's the whole law and the prophets.

Looks like AI is backing me up as usual, see below.

Final Scripture-Only Conclusion

  1. Gentiles were never under the Mosaic Law.
  2. Gentile believers are explicitly excluded from keeping the law of Moses (Acts 15).
  3. Christians (Jew or Gentile) are not under the law (Rom 6:14).
  4. The Ten Commandments are part of “the law” and cannot be separated from it (Rom 7:7; Gal 5:3).
  5. The law written on stone has ended for those in Christ (2 Cor 3:7–11).
  6. Believers are under the Law of Christ, led by the Spirit, not under the Mosaic Law.
