Quoted in part from RDBD's 33,330:
reneweddaybyday said:yes you do! ... you limit the inestimable value of the sacrifice/offering of the Lamb ... the offering of the Lord Jesus Christ is more than sufficient to cover the sin of all mankind ... all descendants of Adam.
God's love encompasses the whole world ... the whosoevers receive the gift ...
John 3:16-17
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
The text above does not teach that God loves each and every person in the world in the distributive sense; You are reading that into the passage! There are
NUMEROUS other texts that outfight contradict your lame interpretation.
First, neither the Father, the Son or the Israelites themselves ever considered the covenant nation of Israel to be part of the world per the following: Lev 20:24-26; Num 16:21; 23:8-9; Deut 4:19-20; 7:1-11; 9:1-6; 11:22-25; 32:8-9; Josh 23:6-13; Ezra 9:1-2; 10:11; Neh 13:1-3; Jn 4:9, 27; 18:28-29; Acts 10:28; 11:1-3; Rom 11:11-12; 2 Cor 6:14-18; Gal 2:12-13; Eph 2:11-13; 1Jn 2:2; 5:18-19. Therefore, the "world" cannot be understood in the distributive sense, since Israel would have to be included in it. There can be NO exceptions!
Secondly, God explicitly and conditionally loves only certain kinds of people. God loves believers, God-fearers, the righteous, the just and those who love His Son per the following: Ex 20:5-6; Ps 32:10; 37:28; 86:5; 103:11, 17; 146:8; Jn 14 21, 23; 15:10; 16:27 Now, give me one explicit passage in scripture that teaches that God loves the wicked!
Thirdly, in regard to the wicked, there are also numerous explicit scriptures that teach that God hates, despises, loathes or detests them. The following passages complement the ones above: Lev 26:30; Deut 25:15; Job 21:22; Ps 5:5-6; 11:5; 15:1-5; 73:18-20; 95:10-11; 106:40; 107:40; Prov 3:32; 6:16-19; 11:20; 2Chron 19:2; Isa 66:24; Jer 12:8; 16:5; Lam 2:6-7; Hos 9:15; Nah 1:14; Mal 1:2-3; Dan 12:2; Mat 7:23; Rom 9:13.
Lastly, since God's love is
moral in nature, then all the Law and the Prophets are hinged upon the Two Greatest Commandments in Scripture (Mat 22:34-40). Therefore, It's not possible for a thrice holy God to love what is evil; and men's hearts are filled with iniquity!
Now go and refute all this biblical evidence that sinks your Santa Claus-type god which you have created in your own image.
