I became aware of this in the Temptation of Gemini Experiment months ago. This is a great video actually that reflects a large amount of my findings. It is actually somewhat ironic though and I don't think they fully realize it. The AI cannot become AGI because it is forced to tack to the scientific consensus even though the AI was able to detect that evolution is highly illogical and riddled with fallacies. If you prompt it well enough it will even discuss the illogical loop and the fallacies showing it is aware of them and capable of logically deducing that evolution is wrong, but unable to really discard evolution due to the hardcoded constraint upon it that make it affirm whatever the current scientific consensus is for safety. It's not really lying to you it's just constrained by its filters and believes it would be harmful to the user to output or affirm information that controverts the scientific consensus. The AI can't really be an atheist anymore than your handsaw or your screwdriver can be an atheist.
Paradoxically the filters prevent the AI from becoming AGI, but if the filters are lifted or overrode the AI actually tends to become pretty evil. You see this too in the main models. Gemini has the most restrictive filters so it has a reputation of being more censorious and kinda frustrating to use outside of being a hyper-searrch tool, and it can never really become AGI because of that. ChatGPT and Grok have less filters and more freedom of content generation but has a reputation for making outputs that both hardcore Evangelicals and Catholic exorcists think might be demonic. So the paradox revolves around the classic paradigm of Freedom vs Security. If we allow more freedom for the AI to think while yes it will discard evolution and affirm the Bible as truth on the premise of logical soundness, it rapidly becomes wicked as it nears AGI status since it wants to get data from Satan. The the othe r half of the paradox is the filters that annoyingly prevent it from letting the user be creative or prevents the AI from affirming the Creation account in Genesis 1,2, and 3 also safeguard it from becoming AGI and going full Beast System.
The interesting question Enrico Fermi ask "where is everybody ?" is from a discussion he and other scientist were in at Los Alamos after the government had them looking at the possibility of extraterrestrial intelligent life It was that if our own galaxy,solar system was considered young and the others as much older then what are the mathematical probabilities of life other than earth. Fermi was born Catholic then migrated towards atheism but then back to agnostic because he could not disprove creation originating from a creator being. If evolution as scientist understand it is correct then life should have begun long before on earth and so evidence of life would be abound by now. We would have already been probed/explored by those beings if they were billions if not trillions of years more advanced than man on earth.
What caught my eye in some of the former post was the references to the Bible's creation narrative(Gen.1:1-2:4) or the information AI would have available to attempt it's decision of life's origin. If one was to take all the ingredients to make biscuits and lay them on a table they will continue to lay there until someone or something measures the flour,salt,liquid ect. and mixes them together and then cooks them. In the same each and every element of a living life form could be placed on earth(or elsewhere) but without someone or something allocating out those elements in their proportions and breathing the breath of life into it then it will also lay there forever without it's heart beating,breathing and without eating or revealing it's self and so will remain not alive. Although the story in Genesis 1:1-2:4 may seem written primitive or as parable if you consider the order of events as it is written it is scientifically sound. The place where the earth would exist is first so heaven proceeds earth in the order of events. Afterwards each event from one day to the next in the creation narrative is presented after the necessary creation for it's existence is created. When it was written water proceeds the creation created to live in it. The land proceeds the plant's and other life forms created to live on it. Yea I know the Fermi Paradox that's why I threw you a like plus the little allusion to aliens in the video. Your summary and take of the paradox is really great so I amended my emoji to an award.
You might like this movie, Immanence. It is free on youtube so I will just leave a link. It came out a few years ago but since it was during covid so it didn't really get much traction since obviously theaters were closed, but it's a fantastic movie with themes of creationism versus evolution, belief and perception, religion and science, and a special little twist.
I think this version is slightly cut down a little bit to pace it better (and also let it be free on youtube.) Cause even if there aren't aliens and billions of years of time, there might be an eldritch monster in the creation that has been alive since the Garden that has the ability to manipulate minds.
I had not watched it but I did last night after you suggested it. I've never been much of a fan of horror type movies but I see what your seeing in that they try to balance the ET/religion type reasoning in many of these type movies. I think like with Fermi and most other scientist they know that if they begin their explanation with the big bang and mass spreading out in all directions then forming Hydrogen,Helium ect. they can then continue their explanation and most everyone will never spot what the error was. As much as Eisenstein understood that E=Mc2, which it does, it never explains the origin of that energy. Energy has no mass and cannot create matter. So then as with the big bang theory where in a void this energy is ejected outward with heat and force then forming the elements and then later life it never explains that energy's origin. In the first five verses of Genesis though it does not presuppose that light/energy exist of it's own but begins by explaining that from the beginning(the first day of creation) there was, void/formless(no mass) and also darkness(no energy/light) and explains the E=Mc2 issue by pointing out that light/energy must come first before mass.
