Easy Peasy.. all you need is time, and....

4 cups washed Blueberries (can use any berry - just cut the big ones to pea size)
2 cups sugar
1 tst lemon juice.
1 tbst cinnamon (optional)

mix all together then:
Boil in pan on medium heat on stove until jam will cleanly separate when you draw the spoon or spatula through it. Pour into sterilized glass jar (put a metal spoon in the jar first to keep the heat from breaking the glass. The spoon will absorb the heat.)

Do you have to add any gelatin ?

Thanks!

That reminds me that I better spread my gooseberry bush to a new location or two.

I forgot... when you cook it down, you're looking for the liquid to thicken so that when you draw the spatula through, you can see how thick it is. not too thick. but like a maple syrupy thick. or better yet, honey. (I wanted to edit my original post, but they don't give us a way, once someone comments on it. :(

The time limit is five minutes (people quoting within that time frame has no effect).

Although because it is a thread and you mean the OP, that could be different?

@seoulsearch would be a good person to ask about that . :)

I'm sorry I didn't see this -- I never received a notification.

For anyone who's still wondering about this -- if you write a thread (the title and the OP -- Original, or Opening Post,) you still have the 5 minutes to edit it. Five minutes is never enough for me when I make a mistake on an opening post so I just hit the Delete button at the bottom of the post. It will ask for a reason -- I always write, "Mistake," and the whole thing -- thread title and original post gets deleted.

It doesn't save anything and I have to start over with rewriting the whole thing from scratch.

If anyone has any questions, feel free to go to my profile and post it on my message wall.

Very sorry I didn't answer sooner -- I only happened to be scrolling through parts of the forum and found this by chance!

Hello Seoul, thank you for responding! Before you delete, take it in to edit as if you are going to, toggle the BB code (that thing that looks like a cog, the last icon on the right above message box) and then highlight and copy everything. Then proceed back to where you can delete the whole post through the system as if you had never done any of that. This will save you the hassle of having to write everything out again from scratch, because now you have it on your clipboard complete with all the HTML you may have inserted such as links, sources, bolding, Italics, or whatever. Just paste it in when you go to rewrite your OP. I suggest/recommend this method for any long post that might require extensive editing after initial posting. If any of that does not make sense I can try to explain better if you let me know which part is unclear...

VERY helpful info (I bookmarked it) -- thank you so much! ❤️

You are welcome! I did add a little as this is a good way to manage any extensive post that may require editing after initial posting.

You can do essentially the same thing if you quote your message to get the content complete with
HTML. Then when you paste it in you just have to delete the quote tags at the beginning and end...

Of course you don't actually post the quote. You can delete it with the floppy icon
to make sure the draft does not reappear later if you are the same thread again.

a year later. lol ... sorry... NOPE. just cook it as recipe says. it will thicken up as it cools.

Thanks for the update YWPMI!
I have a bag of grapes in the freezer and wild blueberries.
I should make preserves.
I even bought a box of gelatin that I saw in the pantry last week.

I've not tried grapes yet... hmmm... there's a thought... i think the problem might be the skins. I take frozen grapes and dump them in sugar... and pop them like pills... ha ha ha (not really, they'd break my teeeeeth!!! ha ha but i do love frozen grapes!

When I get a chance I'll give it a try. These are white grapes with the seeds in them. i think I'll use them while with the seeds in since those are good antioxidants.
I should report back to let you know how it turns out.

i'd like that!!! Please do! I didn't know seeds were edible.

They're hard, so you have to be careful with weak teeth. You can find grape seed extract in the better supplement providers.
If I ever process and strain them, I'll keep the seeds and make my own for personal use because they are a super food.
Around here They are almost impossible to find in the store since all of the varieties I see are seedless. I grow Blanco/White and Concord that are sweet and sour. Concord are my favorite.

That is probably what's in the dry capsules, but not sure.
That would take care of the teeth issue and seems like it would provide more surface area for absorption.

Those coffee grinders are great little machines for spices and things like that.
