After saying he condemned the hateful and violent rhetoric from people in his camp who applauded the assassination he asked if she would condemn the violent rhetoric of Donald Trump and he gave an example of Trump accusing six lawmakers of treason and saying on his X feed "hang them".

First, Erika answered his question with a question, then muddled around like it is a much bigger problem than just one person, it starts with the home. [That was a bizarre and completely irrelevant twist]. She asks "how are you raising your kids?" Ultimately her answer to "will you condemn the rhetoric of Donald Trump" was "Parent's step up!" What does this have to do with anything? Well she concludes with "do you want your children to be thought leaders or assassins?" So she forgives Tyler Robinson but guilts Tyler's parents while completely sidestepping the question.

Now when you include the fact that Trump paid $40 million for the Charlie Kirk Memorial it sure seems like she is not going to condemn him for anything.

To be fair and I hope everyone who decides to comment on this will also be fair, and by that I mean you tell us how you would have answered that question.

I would have said this.

1. What those six did had the appearance of treason. It is not for me to say whether or not they are guilty of treason, but I can certainly say "It looks like treason to me and I would like the military and DOJ to investigate whether or not it is".

2. I would definitely not say "Hang them". That is inflammatory, everyone is innocent until proven guilty, and in a climate where people are being assassinated daily his speech can certainly be seen as inciting others to violence.

He asked about words trump spoke. I would have simply said, I don't have to answer for the president but if they were treasonous the punishment for such is death. If you think thats violence the that's in you.

I have had several experiences of seeing the Lord deal with those who were "abusing me" with their speech. One person lost their job and their marriage and he had children. It was crystal clear to me that this was a result of his attack on me because of the campus ministry I was involved in. I was horrified by how serious the Lord took this, but He told me that this person had dared to touch His ministry and that I was to hold my peace.

Another time there were elders in the church trying to discredit me. This was a battle that had been brewing for four years and gone kinetic for the last year. Finally I wrote a very clear letter of rebuke to them (they were in Irving Texas, I was in a satellite church in Odessa Texas). I was certain that when they received the letter on Friday they would decide to excommunicate me. Instead on Friday they also received a diagnosis of terminal cancer on the lead elder who was also the one taking the lead on the attack on me. There were thousands of members of this church that learned of this and everyone saw this as God's judgment. That man died a few months later.

Both of these were horrible experiences for me. I am well aware that vengeance belongs to the Lord, He will repay. But I don't want that to happen to anyone, I would prefer if people repent and turn to the Lord.

Finally, I had an experience in HS where this teacher gave me a 25 on a Final exam that I had scored 100 on. It was an essay exam so he probably thought he'd be able to find things to take issue with. Only after posting my grade did he actually read my exam and was then gripped with fear. I didn't know what to do. On one hand I had already been accepted to college and this grade would not impact that as it would only bring my overall grade in the class down to a B. So it was trivial for me personally. But if I allowed him to do this to people that would be on me so maybe it was my job to put a stop to it and get him fired (he would have definitely been fired had I appealed). I didn't know what to do. So I prayed and I got this idea. He was the commanding officer in the RAF (I was in England at the time) and I had to turn in my uniform which was missing a button. I decided that whatever he decided concerning that button would be his judgment. If he made a big deal of it, I'd make a big deal, if he didn't, I wouldn't. So I go up to him at lunch, he can't even look at me, instead he is looking down at his plate trembling. I tell him about the button, he says "forget about it" so I forgot about it, went to college and never thought about it again. 40 years later my older brother returns to the school for a reunion. This teacher seeks him out at the reunion, he had remained at that school all those years. He tells my brother that I "was a stand up guy"! I was only in England for one year and only had that teacher for one semester. I could not imagine remembering a student forty years later and seeking out his brother at a school reunion to tell him that. It means I made the right decision, and it means he knew I had shown him mercy and it was probably exactly what he needed. So I didn't just get a 100 on that final exam, I got 100+ and the Lord was letting me know He knew.

Making the experience of Job real to us

Luke 18:9 And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:

This is going to offend many people, but Paul said that a thorn in the flesh was given to him to keep him from being puffed up with pride. There is nothing in this parable where God disagrees with anything the Pharisee says. In fact if Job had said this it would explain why God would repeat the very same thing to Satan. The Lord begins His lesson on Prayer teaching us to pray to be delivered from temptation. As you can see this Pharisee who feels he is so mature and perfect in the Lord is not praying for deliverance. He definitely needs to be taken down a notch in his pride.

10 Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.

Instead of seeing them as two completely different and distinct men, I would say in my own experience they are both me. The publican is who I was when I was first saved, and the Pharisee is who I am now after forty seven years in the word of God.

11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.

To be fair I am thankful for the work the Lord has done in my life. I know that but for the grace of God I too could have become an extortioner, unjust, adulterer, or any other sinful outcome.

12 I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.

This is also true and the Lord does not deny that any of this is true.

What is missing from this prayer is to pray for mercy that I would be delivered from evil and that I would be forgiven of my sins which from this prayer would be pride, even as I forgive others who are also given over to pride. Everyday I am on the internet commenting on this forum on different issues and the prideful comments that are extremely offensive, they proliferate like stepping into a thorn bush.

13 And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.

Again, Jesus does not dispute any of this, both of these men are being honest and telling the truth.

14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

This is what happens in the book of Job. We begin the book and he is not the Publican, he is the Pharisee. What we are seeing in the book of Job is how we can transition in our Christian life from a life that is focused on our growth and maturity to one that is focused on the spiritual warfare. The main concern in the second stage is not that he would be an extortioner or unjust or an adulterer. The main concern in the second stage is pride and arrogance and self righteousness.

Yes vengeance belongs to the Lord, and yes God knows all, but there is also a time when God clearly instructs us to shake the dust off our feet.
The Gospel falls on deaf ears if they are not interested or if they think they are already Christian, this holds true for many areas of life.
