If I had to guess to show the unity between God and man
Not exactly... It is to produce a unity between God and man, otherwise not possible.
No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and is
in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known." John 1:18 NIV
John 1:18 (in the Greek) states that no one can see God. And, that Jesus (because He knows both God and humanity) is able to take what is foreign to man about God, and to 'exegete' God to man, in a manner that men can relate to.
Jesus is God and man interpreting God for man, making man perfectly able to know God as a man should!
As a good pastor is to
exegete the Scriptures to his flock?
It is the same Greek word is used for the Son
to exegete God to mankind.
The Amplified Translation captured this fine nuance.
No man has ever seen God at any time; the only unique Son, or the only begotten God,
Who is in the bosom [in the intimate presence] of the Father, He has declared Him
[He has revealed Him and brought Him out where He can be seen; He has interpreted Him
and He has made Him known].
A pastor I used to know, who taught his churches from the Greek and Hebrew, told me that the function of Jesus concerning God, is the same function commanded of pastors to exegete the Scriptures. Thus, enabling members in his congregation to grasp what the meaning and intent is from the original languages which is normally foreign to the congregation.
The Son being both fully man, and fully God, is the perfect candidate to exegete God for man's understanding.
Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time?
Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? John 14:9
Not only that...
When Jesus created all creation?
Everything He created?
Will be something that a human soul can perceive and comprehend and relate to.
Because?
Everything he created?
Was created through Him - With His Soul!
Grace and peace!
