I was approved for food stamps, but they only gave me $41.00

Here in Florida its required to be looking for a job, or working. It's always been that way. And those who are not active looking for job get nothing. Also, if they get a job offer they refuse, they lose it.
Please b patient and don't panic , something good will come your way I'm sure . Been praying for u , for your situation to improve , God willing ❤️ .

That's another one of the click-bait UTube videos.... NOBODY is required to work 80 hrs a week.
I would be happy to see a requirement to work 30 hours a week to collect.... that's about what people work that are working minimum wage jobs, so that they do not become eligible for benefits.
I would just like to see people have to work SOMETHING in order to get SNAP..... but only IF they are young, able bodied people. Obviously, the disabled and elderly should not have to work..

All of this hinges on the government agencies actually vetting the applicants fairly before approving their application.

Not so fast. It is not click bait. Check out sec 10102. The language is a little cloudy because, well, that's what the gov does. The US Dept of Agriculture is not putting out click bait. smh here

Yep just finished our online appt. with SNAP here in Texas and we were told we were reduced from 202.00 a month to 173.00 and when we ask why were told there will be additional reductions month after month because the BBB stipulates them that way. In addition to the age limit for work search qualifications going into effect this month from 58 to 65 years of age. It's not what we were told about just the moochers it's across the board including the elderly.

The 80hrs per week is why I called it click-bait.... I did not watch the video, or I would have noticed you mis-quoted it. As @Magenta corrected, 80hrs a month sounds more like what the government would require...

Well that's fine. Yes she did corrrect it and I made a mistake. I did know it was per month so I guess the forum gremlin made me do it. I will now go stand in the corner.

Try a little entrepreneurial activity. I hear begging at intersections can be very lucrative.
you ought to check out mexicans & spanish people picking bottles & cans near the saratoga thoroughbred track during season. they have these huge garbage bags bigger than they are & earn 100's of dollars in 1 day!

But if a person works 80 hrs a month, then they'll earn too much to qualify for SNAP.

I wonder how the original poster got approved for $41 snap every month? He must have 2 kids? I only get $23 (used to) and I live alone so essentially, it is not worth it to jump through all their hoops and qualifications to get next to nothing. It's been about a year since I let snap go. But all of this talk makes me think forward...

WHen the war and or famine hits...we wont be able to expect decent help from Govt. aid stations and the Red Cross and all those places. And when they spring up...before you enter looking for food & medicine, look at their perimeter fencing. Is the curled razor wire at the top pointed in or out? In means they plan to keep you!

After the big event (fake Alien Invasion?) many people will be dead and no power no stores and the aid stations is how they will find out who is still alive. So if you don't want your name on the alive list don't go to gvt aid stations.

I don't know how all those people get to have all those food stamps. I see people coming into dollar general with all food stamps, buying up the whole store when they come. Along with the food they also place all these other things on the counter, things that don't matter. I don't know how they get those food stamps. Yeah I see them buying all this trash along with the food and they have me labeled as incompetent because of my credit card utilization.

I see them buying all these things like paintings, flowers, decorative bowels that have no function. Little boxes that the only thing about it is it says, welcome home. And these things are $5.00- $20.00 each. Then they pay for their order with food stamps and the balance shows over $300.00 USD left.

All they gave me was $41.00 for the whole month.

So on tiktok the welfare queen shared how you can "earn" money by downloading the dollar general app and go through the store where you can purchase items. You'll have to watch it bc I'm not familiar with how to do this, only familiar with the app alone.

Here's the idea: there is an entire food stamps economy where people will trade their food stamps for real money. So the government... In their wisdom thought "why shouldn't we get a cut of this?" And created their own system. My opinion/guess is that they implemented the "earn" money on items as a way to bailout stores like the dollar general from going bankrupt.

I'm like an island....I don't want people to starve. But I think people should work and hate socialism. But I also think people go through hard times and we should help. But I also think people should do the right thing bc... It's the right thing. I don't think people should take advantage of the government... But criminals do all the time. So that is the reason I told you about one trick. I will also say some are so vile they have 8 kids ONLY for more money and when cut off they tell their teen girls to get pregnant to get more. This is the corruption that makes me hate it and how the evil ruin everything, even something as innocent as needing food.

@Suze Something might be up with my problem. I think I can make this antique violin trade business work. I have a plan which I think would allow me to earn $1k supplemental income each month. I would sell higher end violins for less than the appraisal. I have an old violin I am trying to sell it, a German but its low end violin. I just finished setting i up couple hours ago. I have it just listed. It's getting attention already.

When your a kid it's OK to hunt for bottles but if your older than 16 you have to have a hunting license.

That's funny that the government wants a piece of the pie for bottle hunters, lol. My parents both liked to drink Pepsi and they had 4 kids so they couldn't really buy it by the case with us kids because a case is only 4 sodas for each kid, and we can drink 4 sodas a day easy so to ensure they didn't have to go daily for soda they'd buy 3 or 4 cases at a time! And we would save up the bottles in the basement until we had like, $100 bucks worth at a time.

So I was never really a bottle hunter but if I found one I'd save it with the others and when we cashed them in we'd get to do something with the money from it and that was cool.
