Soooo... It is both my Christian duty and my patriotic duty to find a girl, get married and raise children?

Nope nope nope nope...

Christian, no. Be fruitful was a command to Adam and Noah. Paul answers the question of singleness.

Patriotic? Yes. If you care for the prosperity of your nation then to love your neighbor, the younger generations will inherit either a mess or a prosperous nation. Like it or not, this is a serious issue that we are only starting to see the problem. It will only get worse as the elderly get older and deaths rise to even further outweigh births.

Then you can only rely on either robotics or immigration.

Robotics could handle much of the workload but it comes with its own problems.

Immigration without assimilation is why we have Muslim controlled areas. Refugees are bused in and left in big communities. Not a good way to assimilate. Then as we see in Europe, the influence of foreign governments, ideologies, and religions begins to undermine our political system and overburden our prisons.

So in some sense, to love your neighbor is a Biblical concept, and in doing that is to be a strong supporter of the family because ain't no war is going to be won with an elderly population. Ain't no economy going to run without a workforce.

This isn't about supporting corruption but fighting corruption. Every authoritarian regime tries to eliminate the family. Why? Because the family raises the kids with their values and ideas. The state wants only their ideas, values, and allegiance.

We want strong healthy families built on the Judeo-Christian values that promote prosperity for a nation.

I think the concept of marriage/ family as a patriotic duty is new in the United States. I've only started hearing about it a few years ago.

You really need to talk to this other guy who, on the same day, started a thread about how REAL Christians remain single.

If we are that close to the end events, it might not matter either way, but that's an interesting observation, Lynx. I'll read that post next.

My family contributed an 8-fold increase (16 progeny from he and I) and if there were a line I could stand in to do more, I don't think I'd shrink from the offer, even if I have finally gotten used to a mostly quiet house and being alone. I agree that if we had been better instructed in what makes a nation/community stable, we likely all would have bought into the Mom/Grandparents-at-home and lots of kids mentality and we would have purposefully instructed our children on what it takes to be just and fair. We let a lot slip in the 7 decades or so I've been around. It's interesting to hear it being discussed more, especially along the lines of it being patriotic to marry and have kids.

I can say that we have a lot of studies that suggest stronger communities and countries with less crime and fewer acts of violence (see, I know how to use less and fewer), fewer divorces and more social stability are those with married, cooperative parents. It's mentoring at it's finest.

The term may have found a resurgence but no matter what we call it if a country gets the marriage/family issue wrong, they will begin to suffer. And in less we like our neighbors, our children, our grandchildren, etc to suffer then we should continue on the path we are on. But ironically no one wants to suffer but they also don't want a God telling them how to raise a family.

I don't think it's such a bad thing. World needs to slow down and Jesus needs to come. Less people less problems.

Yes, I agree we will suffer on this path, if world continues on for a long time. In my situation though, I feel I have no control over being single.

Well in the matter of things we can control we can choose how we look, dress, where we meet people, who we hang around, are we going to have positive or negative personality traits, etc.

So in our area on control just continue to be awesome.

Yeah, I haven't met the lady of my dreams either. Haven't really met any lady who offered to go to pieces with me.

So many movies have done lied to me...

If it's imperative then I start raising a family, somebody better find somebody to be my lady...

The point of the post isn't to say everyone must marry it is just stating a fact that if we do not take seriously the birth/death rates there is so much tied into what they will affect.

Fewer people aren't always a good thing especially when we do not have adequate numbers to at least replace the current workforce.

Of course, so much more is at stake than just the economy. The problems we see are not because of more people but poor political policies and a darkened culture.

definitely got to take the birth/death rates seriously.

In 1900 the world population was 1.6 billion, by 2000 it rose to 6 billion, by 2080 it will be 10 billion. People are having babies like rabbits with no slowdown in sight

Most countries are not multiplying. People are not the problem. God wants each one to be in Heaven. The facts still remain that despite the global population, that isn't the national population or the working/ family producing age of a population. Without at least the replacement of those who die, you run into some very costly issues.

The long forecast in the U.S. atleast out to 2050 shows little changes in birth/death, minor adjustments in age categories with a total population still increasing.

Due to a forecast of the trending immigration policies the past few decades. The trend is that the birth rates are in decline and death is on the rise. Meaning Americans those who have been born here are not being replaced by generational Americans.

Instead we have turned to immigration and robotics.

“Barring a reversal in the fertility decline, the United States could instead maintain the workingage population with a sizable increase in immigration. The nation could also adjust to a smaller working-age population with adaptive policies aimed at addressing macroeconomic and fiscal consequences. For instance, greater investments in human capital, productivity-enhancing infrastructure, and research and development could maintain overall productivity in the face of a smaller workforce. Meanwhile, securing the finances of old-age assistance programs including Social Security and Medicare will become increasingly imperative. US policymakers will need to contend with these issues if the recent, sustained decline in birth rates is not reversed.” —The Causes and Consequences of Declining US

The only way this is good for any country if they wish to stay a sovereign country still connected to it's foundation of laws, morality, and virtues, they must demand strict assimilation laws and defend against foreign idealogies that are not compatible to a constitutional republic.

The current European jihad without even spilling any blood.

“ In recent decades, immigration has also come from asylum seekers, refugees from Syria and Afghanistan, and economic migrants from Africa seeking a better future. Governments believed that the immigrants would assimilate into local society, but in reality, for many, the opposite occurred. Many immigrants feel a deep hostility toward and contempt for the local culture. They exploit the generous social benefits, the strong economies, and all the advantages democratic societies have to offer, while working to conquer Europe religiously and culturally, even from within the political institutions of their host countries.” —https://www.jpost.com/opinion/article-862984

Jeremiah 18:9-10 ESV
And if at any time I declare concerning a nation or a kingdom that I will build and plant it, and if it does evil in my sight, not listening to my voice, then I will relent of the good that I had intended to do to it.

As of 2024, the US fertility rate hit 1.6%.

“Americans would need to have an average of 2.1 children over their lifetimes to maintain the current U.S. population levels through births alone.”
https://www.newsweek.com/map-shows-21-states-where-deaths-now-outnumber-births-2092400

A growing problem that is a detrimental hurdle for any advanced civilization. At some point, the same factors of a dying civilization contribute to the decline in fertility rates.

The baby boomer generation being the largest in number is now reaching the elderly stages in life that are no longer able to sustain the growing demands of the economy and workforce. Being a large part of the age range the elderly who generally are now living longer also forces higher premiums on health insurance.

Add in the average American diet, exposure to harmful environmental factors, dangerous lifestyles that increase disease and mental health issues all add to the rise in healthcare.

If unaddressed we either we pay higher taxes for poorer quality health care or we pay higher premiums to still have access to higher quality healthcare.

Younger millennials and younger generations have been taught to either prolong starting a family for college, career, or to be content without the responsibility of children.

Pushing the family on average starting in their late 20s to late 30s.

Women are most fertile in their late teens to late 20s. Fertility starts to decline in their 30s. And the rise in pregnancy complications begins to increase as well.

Men start to decline in their 40s.

https://www.betterhealth.vic.gov.au/health/conditionsandtreatments/age-and-fertility

Other factors like inflation, abortion, contraceptives, and poor government incentives all contribute to the decline in birth rates.

An increase in elderly demands an increase in population to take over where they retired or are now in need of assistance.

In the book Sex and Culture by J D Unwin, he provides evidence for the decline.

“If a rationalistic cultural stratum retains its energy for about one generation (the records do not justify a more definite statement), its cultural tradition seems to be augmented by an element I have called human entropy. Just as the second law of thermodynamics, or the Law of Entropy, appears to reveal the Direction of the Universal Process, so this new element appears to reveal the Direction of the Cultural Process (hence its name); and so long as the stratum continues to display great energy its cultural behaviour changes in the Direction of the Cultural Process. If, however, its energy decreases, its behaviour changes away from the Direction.” Page 201 Kindle edition.

Unwin after investigating many different ancient civilizations he found a common trend. A prosperous community demands great energy for its cultural behaviour to change in the direction of the cultural process.
If, however, its energy decreases, its behaviour changes away from that direction.

So what contributed to this great energy? Healthy families. Strict monogamous heterosexual marriages. Their energy faded away as soon as a modified monogamy became part of the inherited tradition of the whole society.

“Generally speaking, in the past when they began to display great energy (as opposed to the lesser energy of uncivilized peoples), human societies were absolutely monogamous. There is only one example of a polygamous society displaying productive social energy, that of the Moors; but in their case the women whom the men took to wife had been reared in an absolutely monogamous tradition. The energy of the Moors faded away when the mothers spent their early childhood in a less rigorous tradition. With this exception, the energy of the most developed civilized societies, or that of any group within them, was exhibited for so long as they preserved their austere regulations. Their energy faded away as soon as a modified monogamy became part of the inherited tradition of the whole society.” Page 345 Kindle Edition

The family is the foundation of any nation. Any nation that tries to eliminate the family has faded away in human history.

A nation's sin of abortion, unbiblical marriage, sexual immorality, greed, power, attacks on parental rights, and corruption have degraded the family. Personal sin and corrupt politicians have contributed to the problems and the illogical solutions to fix them.

The government in the past has relied on immigration. But immigration with poor vetting and assimilation has detrimentally damaged the American identity and sovereignty. Shariah law doesn't work with American law. Communism doesn't work with a Constitutional Republic. Socialism doesn't work with capitalism. Our laws built on certain moral precepts do not always match a 3rd world country's view of morality.

The only solution forward is to focus on raising healthy American-loving families that want to have 2 or more children.

Marriage as God ordained between one man and one woman despite humans attempt to degrade this will always be the greatest energy for human flourishing.

Historical accounts of Rome show the importance of fertility in a country and in the case of Rome, a sad and desperate attempt that early Rome committed in order to save their country.

It has been called the abduction or rape of the Sabine women. Roman historian Livy explained that the population mostly consisted of men and Romulus feared that the growing population would not be sustainable for longer than one generation.

Historical accounts share how at first they went to the surrounding populations and politically tried to make deals for intermarriages which ultimately failed. So Romulus went to extreme measures and had his men kidnap the Sabine women and forced them to marry his men.

A sad and tragic story that shows the importance of fertility and ancient means to try and preserve a country.

Today we see 20,000+ Ukrainian children abducted by Russia during the Ukrainian-Russian conflict. Most believe they have had their identities erased and forced to assimilate to unfortunately replace the population dying in the war.

https://www.jpost.com/international/internationalrussia-ukraine-war/article-835511

We see China trying to recover from its “one child” often male policy.

“The Chinese government has launched a year-long campaign to stem trafficking of women and children. The decision was prompted by a public uproar over its longstanding failure to tackle bride trafficking.”
https://www.hrw.org/news/2022/06/07/chained-woman-has-become-face-bride-trafficking-china

“Families in Greece with four or more children will not pay income tax on certain income brackets starting in 2026, as part of a new tax reform aimed at alleviating the financial burden on larger families. This measure is part of a broader effort to address the country's demographic crisis and support families.”

Obviously, America isn't the only country experiencing a decline in fertility rates and for most industrialized countries we have seen the decline in birth rates. Some scientists point to pollution in the air, water, or our food but I believe the biggest problem is in the heart.

New research has discovered that the heart is more like a second brain.

“Scientists have discovered that these neurons allow the heart to sense, learn, and even remember, leading some researchers to nickname the heart an emotional brain.”

“heart rhythms influence emotional processing and cognitive performance”.

https://sciencesensei.com/scientist...in-in-your-heart-and-it-remembers-everything/

Jeremiah 17:9
The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?

Proverbs 4:23
Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.

Psalm 51:10
Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.

The mind if not equipped with emotion or passion for what is good, will not have the energy to sustain what is good. God foretold us the importance of the heart and for generations, it was always taken as metaphorical for emotion. But science has now revealed the connection.

Until the heart of the nation turns back to God, we will stay in decline. Our sins will only bring death. Let us with holy awe fear the Lord who brings both prosperity and curses on a nation.

Jeremiah 5:23-25
But this people has a stubborn and rebellious heart; they have turned aside and gone away. They do not say in their hearts, ‘Let us fear the Lord our God, who gives the rain in its season, the autumn rain and the spring rain, and keeps for us the weeks appointed for the harvest.’ Your iniquities have turned these away, and your sins have kept good from you.
Feminism has done in less than 200 years what hordes of barbarian invaders couldn't do in 2000.

Take a look at the guy in the thread below. He lumps in women who want children with Lot's daughters who raped him. Not much hope for civilisation when Christians are so deceived about right and wrong.

I like the Japanese approach.
We were planning on having one child but when we had twins, it was a blessing. And we're done!

Many friends used to say to me "hey are you gonna have a girl now?
I used to tell them: Yeah, i'll leave her over your house so you can raise her!

Not sure how your post is related to the OP?
Here it is in other words: Feminism is a chief cause of the declining birth rate, to the point that some Christians believe having a desire for children within wedlock is a vice.

"What you do is a product of what you believe about where you came from". Convince the nation that feminism is a virtue, and the birthrate will decline until another nation (which doesn't) steps in and replaces it.
