Okay man. To see who hung beside Jesus who Jesus told today he would dwell with him in Paradise. I go to a different website so I can learn how to talk to people to witness. Now I believe everything Jesus says. I had pastors on there get mad cuz I would argue with them. They claim since Jesus was not in Paradise that day then there's no way that the thief went to heaven. Now the thief claimed he was worthy of his death because of his wrong which is a sign of repentance. He did not ask Christ to take him down off the cross and claim his innocence. He said Christ was innocent his claim more or less sorry about paraphrasing. Anyway lots of commentaries say on Bible hub that the thief did inherit Paradise. So it's hard to believe so many theologians and so many people out there say that the thief did go to heaven. I'm not trying to knock anybody. I've been argued with claiming that the thief had no life service to Christ. Sounds to me like some pastors have an issue with somebody getting saved at the last minute. I believe Jesus can save anybody at any point in their life. Any comments I'm open I'm not going to argue with you like I did on quora though.
First to me some things are not very clear and way over my head but how to be reborn today is clear.
This statement is from,
@rewriter post #32 which I think is correct.
"In 1st century Judaism, "paradise" was a term associated with "hades", a two-part destination for deceased people, a term for the pleasant part. Jesus himself went to "hades", which part is unclear, it was only later theology that made it "hell" or the unpleasant side of "hades". Thus it is quite possible that both Jesus and the thief were in "paradise" by the end of that day."
My spin, after JESUS died, he went to Hell.
1 Peter 3:18-20
18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:
19 By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;
20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.
Info about the thief,
When the thief on the cross died, he died OT laws. Where people had to take a sacrifice to the high priests ones a year to have their sins forgiven GOD RULES.
JESUS is our high priest and he became our sacrifice our lamb.
When JESUS was on this earth and forgave sins as he wished like the thief.
JESUS preach app 3 years, died on the cross, buried and rose again. Then he ascended to Heaven to put his blood on the mercy seat.
Hebrews 9:12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.
He then returned to earth and was here app 40 days and ascended again commanding his disciples to wait because they will be filled with the Holy Ghost. Acts 2:3-4
He ascended the second time and this was the first message of how to be reborn.
Acts 2:38-39
38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
Since then until he returns again, we live in NT laws and how to be saved we need to repent, get baptized in JESUS name to get rid of our sins and receive the Holy Ghost like JESUS gave his disciples in Acts 2:4.
EVERYONE can be saved, don't care how old they are or close to death BUT they still have to repent, get baptized in JESUS name to get rid of their sins and JESUS needs to fill them with the Holy Ghost. John 3:5 Acts 2:38.
I don't see any of that happening on a deathbed, JESUS is calling US NOW don't wait tomorrow is NOT PROMISED.
