So, God’s word doesn’t have all the knowledge we need? The Spirit’s sword isn’t sufficient?
Correct. The Spirit's sword, though essential, is not sufficient. We also need the Holy Spirit to distribute gifts that inspire the particular understanding and service that arising circumstances require. In a specific situation, we can't just pick any Bible verse and do thatand expect it to meet the needs of the time. We need to know which verses and with which manifestation we should act. We need both the word and the Spirit.

The word of God is not sufficient enough so someone can know how to be saved and learn how to abide in the doctrine of Christ? To say the word of God is not sufficient enough is to say the Spirit’s words are not sufficient. Do you really believe that? Or does it take something other than the full revelation that the Spirit revealed?

The text says "all mankind".
The unsaved do not operate in the gifts of the Spirit in the New Testament! Read Joel 2:20-29 God is speaking to Israel and says that He will pour of His Spirit on their sons and daughters, old men, young men, servants and hand maidens, all belonging to Israel, not the world.

that not true it is GOD who does so. "And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen." Mark16:20

Jesus Himself said : John 10:37-38 37 If I do not do the works of My Father, do not believe Me; 38 but if I do, though you do not believe Me, believe the works, that you may know and believe that the Father is in Me, and I in Him.”

No one is twisting the word of GOD you just don't know it.
Again I say, if Jesus and those in the early church needed the gifts of Spirit to confirm the Word to unbelievers what makes you think God would suddenly take them away? Is there less demonic activity now? Are there less sicknesses and diseases now? Are there less people that need salvation now? I would say there are MORE in these days, and you believe that God would send us out less equipped? No, unbelief IN THE CHURCH is the main culprit, having a form of godliness but denying the power, to us-ward, thereof. I, sir, know whereof I speak

It has a lot to do with what you posted. You are suggesting I am twisting the scriptures, and you believe the gifts continue today. I’m simply asking if you can please show another verse where it teaches how one receives gifts today from the Spirit in a different way other than what the Bible already teaches?
And you still haven't addressed the questions I posed to you.

You cannot show me in scripture where it teaches how one receives gifts today from the Spirit in a different way other than what the Bible already teaches.

LOL first off I never said I think God would suddenly take them away.
second There is more evil now than there was 2000 year ago and more demonic activity.

Jesus said in the last days the love of many would wax cold Matthew 24:12. The Spirit of Anti-Christ is already and has been at work in the world.

Your opinion is not founded in the Biblical context of the world today

2 Timothy 3:1-5

But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people.

Matthew 24:11

And many false prophets will arise and lead many astray

You don't think that there is more evil now ?

  • 65,000,000 abortions
  • transgenderism is demonic along with all LGBTQ perversion.
  • sex trafficking of women and children 79000 missing in the USA from 2023.
Are you blind?

The gifts of the Spirit are available to all WHO ARE IN CHRIST. He was talking to those who belong to Christ, not ALL mankind.

Are you saying that unbelievers cannot ever experience divine dreams?

Are you saying that unbelievers cannot experience divine prophecy?

Gods Word says the Holy Spirit will be poured out at the end, and repeats it for us to see, and goes over the many who will receive it..
Gods Word says that tongues will cease and its absence today is easy for us to see...if we are honest with ourselves.

This passage applies to the modern day Pentecostal Movement.

It's this movement that has spread evil among the churches.

They are the lovers of self and lovers of money. They are the proud, arrogant and without control. They are lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God and they present themselves as having the physical gifts of God but show no evidence of its power. They are reckless and swollen with conceit. They are brutal and reckless in their conduct during their "worship" to God.

Anyone who studies this movement can see this throughout its sordid history.

They most certainly should be avoided.

There are people who believe the word of God is not sufficient enough, so they are implying the Spirit didn’t fully reveal all that we need that pertains to life and godliness.

pinebeach,

Are those men greater than the views from the Church Father's including the views of Calvin, Wesley, and others claiming that the perfect to come is when we see Jesus face to face and this is when the Gifts cease?

I don't know them personally.

There are people who believe the word of God is not sufficient enough, so they are implying the Spirit didn’t fully reveal all that we need that pertains to life and godliness.

There are people who put words in other people's post because they cannot deal with the actual post. The Holy Spirit did not die or retire since the NT was compiled.

Roles of the Holy Spirit in the Life of the Believer
1. He regenerates us. (Tit. 3:5)

This means when we placed our faith in Christ and were born again through the Holy Spirit, He made us into a new creature with new desires and new cravings.

2. He teaches us the truth of God. (Jn. 14:17, 26; 16:13)

This means that whenever we come to the true interpretation of Scripture, it is by the Holy Spirit. Whenever we come to understand and accept truths within the Bible, it is by the Holy Spirit. Whenever we come to acknowledge and accept correct biblical doctrine, it is by the Holy Spirit. Whenever we come to discern between accurate biblical doctrine and false doctrine, it is by the Holy Spirit. Whenever we learn a truth about God apart from Scripture (e.g. creation, biology, science, etc) but it is in accordance with Scripture, it is by the Holy Spirit.

3. He testifies to us the character of God. (Jn. 15:26; 16:14-15)

This means the Holy Spirit reveals to us what Jesus is like, gives us the desire to want to be like Jesus, and then explains how we can be like Jesus.

4. He guides us along our walk with God. (Rom. 8:14)

This means the Holy Spirit is the one guiding us in our daily becoming like Jesus here on earth. The daily situations we’re put in which assist in conforming us into Christ-likeness, the Holy Spirit is guiding us along those paths.

5. He speaks to us to follow His leading. (Acts 8:29-39; 13:1-4ff)

This does not mean that the Holy Spirit will necessarily speak to us audibly, but rather He will lead us (urge us or sway us) according to His plan and to follow His desires—which will never contradict Scripture. Oftentimes, when we think we "hear" God speaking to us, it is really our voice narrating the thoughts the Spirit may have placed in our minds to urge/sway us where He is leading.

6. He intercedes for us according to God’s will. (Rom. 8:26-27)

This does not mean He simply prays for us or on our behalf. No, it means much more than that. According to the Greek term for intercedes used in Romans 8:26-27, this type of interceding “refers to the Holy Spirit interceding in every scene of our lives so we can “come in line with” the Lord’s eternal purpose.”[1]

7. He comforts us with His presence, His truth, and His peace. (Jn. 14:16, 26-27)

Between John chapters 14-16 when Jesus mentioned the Holy Spirit, it was primarily as “comforter”, as “truth”, and as “with us”. This means when, not if but when, the Holy Spirit comforts us in trying and difficult times, He does it

  • with His presence—i.e. the fact that He’s with us gives us strength to hold on
  • with His truth—i.e. we know that these things are going to happen, and yet regardless to how hard life is at times, we know that we are eternally secure and we win in the end
  • with His peace—i.e. a gentle peace which surpasses all understanding and brings us to a radically calm rest in God’s sovereign hands.
8. He convicts us of our sin and selfishness. (Gal. 5:16-17)

This means the Holy Spirit brings an internal spiritual conflict between our sinful and selfish desires and His desires. Thus, conviction comes whenever we follow our sinful and selfish desires, or lean toward it, or are tempted by it, because it conflicts with His desires.

9. He fills us with Himself. (Eph. 5:18)

When a person is drunk, the alcohol controls and influences their decisions, behaviors, and way of thinking. This means the same is true with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit fills us with Himself—i.e. as we give ourselves to Him (follow His desires) as if giving ourselves to drinking alcohol—and thus He controls and influences us in our decisions, behaviors, and way of thinking, as well as empower us for His use in our daily lives.

10. He produces fruit in our lives. (Gal. 5:16, 22-23)

This means as we follow the Holy Spirit’s desires (please God) He will produce His fruit in our lives.

11. He gives us gifts for service. (1Cor. 12:3-11, Rom. 12:3-8, Eph. 4:7-11)

This means the Holy Spirit has given every born-again believer a gift or gifts to serve the Body of Christ and assist in fulfilling God’s will in the earth.

12. He sanctifies us on earth. (2Cor. 3:18, cf. Phil. 1:6)

This means everything the Holy Spirit does or allows is for setting us apart and making us more Christ-like in our lives each day.

13. He seals our eternal redemption. (Eph. 1:13-14, Rom. 8:9, 16)

This means because we possess the Holy Spirit:

  1. We are truly born-again.
  2. He Himself is our guarantee of our eternal security.
