I’m in my 80s and there have been very difficult circumstances in my life when I had to embrace the saying: “When I'm at the end of my rope, I must tie a knot and hang on.” Occasionally, in prayer I’ve had to throw up my hands in frustration, “I give up Lord, you gotta do it, I’ve done all I can!” I wanted the answer right now! God has never worked on my timetable, but he has surely been found faithful, totally reliable and true. I’ve had major prayer requests that took years for the answer, but as is often the case, God’s answer was so much better than I could have imagined. I suppose waiting on the LORD has too often been my most difficult struggle. But the Psalms do give us promises to encourage us to wait on God. My life would have been so much better at times, if I merely had more trust as I waited.

Wait for the LORD; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the LORD! (Ps 27:14, NRSV)

Our soul waits for the LORD; he is our help and shield. (Ps 33:20, NRSV)

But it is for you, O LORD, that I wait; it is you, O Lord my God, who will answer. (Ps 38:15, NRSV)

“And now, O Lord, what do I wait for? My hope is in you. Deliver me from all my transgressions. Do not make me the scorn of the fool. (Ps 39:7-8, NRSV)

I waited patiently for the LORD; he inclined to me and heard my cry. (Ps 40:1, NRSV)

For God alone my soul waits in silence; from him comes my salvation…For God alone my soul waits in silence, for my hope is from him. (Ps 62:1, 5, NRSV)

As I came across the title of this chat forum, "it's not always easy to wait on God", I truly appreciated what mr j o n, who at 80 years of living is still an enduring soldier of the Lord, said.

Because I too have thrown up my hands in frustration... While expressing...Lord I'm at my ropes end, many a Time. So your reference of when you're at your ropes in "tie a knot and hold on" lol spoke volumes to me(!), as it {sometimes} feels like my hold & grip is slipping...

And to "shittim", your post using one of my favorite Greek terms "kairos", which is partially spelled, and similar sounding to my actual real name, that starts with the letter 'K' and ends with the letter 'S', your message spoke volumes also, as Kairos time is always an on time, right time, in season word, only God can fulfill; be-it through others such as you all that have reminded me... Or sometimes through His direct word in reading, sharing, praying, meditating, or just hearing...

Lastly, to add to everybody's experience shared in waiting... I once heard an anointed wise soul say, when it feels like our time of waiting is being wasted: just know that one year of glory can {supernaturally} swallow up years & time of {faithful-patient} waiting.

Thanks...

Blessings to you my friend, a great teacher shared he has been reminded to go back and do what God asked him to do before he could move forward in relationship.
John Wimber mentioned this in one of his teachings, that the Lord had prompted him to go back and complete a given task before he could move forward in relationship and guidance. My teacher spoke of Kairos time as "purpose to purpose".
Blessings, friend:)(y)

Precious friend, reminds me of God's Word Of Truth:

"For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a
Far More Exceeding And Eternal Weight Of Glory;" (2 Corinthians 4:17 AV)
Amen.

Greetings again brothers & sisters...

As I believe another "Kairos" word {received} has been given...with the reminder {teaching} that the "Lord {sometimes] prompts us go back to begin and/or complete a given {sometimes} difficult task, asked of us, before moving forward... I'm reminded {outside of myself-lol} of a few Bible characters {though I'm sure there were others} who too were prompted TO GO BACK... In order TO GO FORWARD... Such as Paul BACK TO a people he once persecuted... Moses BACK TO Egypt after killing... Jacob BACK TO his Homeland where his relatives he once wronged {Esau} lived...

Wow! I thank the lord & you {again} for this prompting, teaching and "Kairos" reminder...
