When did I say we can not get rid of our sins???

How do you know you have the Holy Ghost??

Acts 2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

I bet those 120 people were suprized to see what happened when they got it?

1 John 1 is refering to after we are reborn, then all we have to do is repent and confess them.

Tell me what does this veres say and mean?

Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

So your sequence is to be reborn and then repent and confess?

Baptism was an Old Testament ritual (John the Baptist was a Jew) that got carried over into the early church age.
The ritual continued until some finally were shown that the Church age has replaced water baptism with Spirit baptism.

Peter was very Jewish. He kept kosher all his life and was careful to follow the Law.
After the Baptism of the Holy Spirit was sprung upon them?
Peter kept thinking like a Jew would for quite some time.
He still commanded water baptism, as he had performed while as a disciple of Jesus before the Cross took place

Peter had to unlearn about water baptism and concerning the mandatory eating kosher.

For Peter, it was like someone who had always driven with a stick, is given a car with an automatic transmission.
Peter kept going for the clutch as he always had done, but it was no longer there!

Here is where Peter was told by God to stop eating only kosher foods.

Acts 10:11-15
He saw heaven opened and something like a large sheet being let down to earth by
its four corners. It contained all kinds of four-footed animals, as well as reptiles and birds.
Then a voice told him, “Get up, Peter. Kill and eat.”
“Surely not, Lord!” Peter replied. “I have never eaten anything impure or unclean.”
The voice spoke to him a second time, “Do not call anything impure that God has made clean.”

Peter was at first highly resistant to eating what he was always taught as a Jew was religtiously "unclean."
The same kind of revolutionary change took place concerning water baptism.
To be replaced by the baptism of the Spirit.

The church age was a revolutionary change and new learning curve for the Jewish apostles.
Gentiles today reading the Bible simply want to do what it says without realizing the mistakes they made.
Mistakes that needed to be corrected as the apostle learned more and more about the New Way in Christ.

grace and peace ...........

Did you know baptism didn't start until AFTER JESUS ascended to Heaven the second time?

Be great if you can show me where being filled with the Holy Ghost replace getting rid of our sins.

STORY TIME, WHERE DOES THIS STUFF COME FROM????

Any chance you can back that up WITH HIS WORD LOL.

So Jesus lied when He said those that believed and are baptized shall be saved?

We should be both spirit baptized and water baptized

Here is what Jesus told them after his resurrection...

On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command:
“Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you
have heard me speak about.
For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.”
Acts 1:4-5

In all the excitement that had been taking place, Peter would not recall those words until after having commanded many to be water baptized.

Here is when Peter finally remembered those words of Jesus, who told them that water was to be replaced by water baptism.

Peter had just previously led many gentiles to the Lord and had them water baptized.
And, then, Peter remembered!

“As I began to speak, the Holy Spirit came on them as he had come on us at the beginning.
Then I remembered what the Lord had said: ‘John baptized with water, but you will be baptized
with the Holy Spirit.’ So if God gave them the same gift he gave us who believed in the Lord Jesus
Christ, who was I to think that I could stand in God’s way?” Acts 11:15-17

After finally remembering?
We no longer see Peter commanding water baptisms.

It is an easy mistake to make.
And, many still do.

I strongly wanted to be water baptized after learning I was saved.
Some pastors gently told me it was not needed, but never gave me Scripture to show me why.

NO WAY, not bible.

Repent, get baptized in JESUS name to get rid of our sins.

That is what we have to do.

We also need JESUS to fill us with HIS SPIRIT.

That is what JESUS does.

AFTER we have been reborn, then repent and confess.

Which one come first, reborn or repent?

It could be that the thief was never baptized. He certainly did not repent, although he did admit his guilt and confessed that he deserved what was coming. He only said Lord [remember me. . . . and acknowledged Christ as God].

Wonder why, there has to be a reason.

I think I covered that with you, if I didn't please tell me.

Which one come first, reborn or repent?

How can you be reborn without repenting?

Sill need to be baptized in JESUS name and need JESUS to fill you with the Holy Ghost to be reborn. John 3:5 Acts 2:38

Your only purpose is beginning to appear to be?
To disrupt and confuse.
Your refusing to think about what was said and to accept correction disrupts good fellowship.
And this is what God has to say about your approach (unless you repent.)

Remember!
God said this!
Not, me.

..............................Proverbs 12:1
Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge,
but whoever hates correction is stupid.

It's disruptive!

Nothing can be discussed with you because you act like a drunk who can't hear straight.
You start arguing over what was not said, to make us forget what was said!

It would be an evil tactic if it were done on purpose.

I'm sorry I have NO TACT.

How much time did you spend with Peter to know him so well that he had a such a bad memory?

I believe being baptised in Jesus name is a spiritual baptism. I have been baptised Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Christs blood washes away the sin when one repents and is baptised into Jesus.

I am not quite sure when did Jesus ascended twice to heaven?

Someone please explain to me.

It is thought that Jesus ascended twice in fulfillment of the day of atonement when the high priest entered the holy of holies twice on that day, first to present an offering for himself and then to present an offering for the people (Leviticus 16).

So Jesus entered first to present his blood as proof of his obedience and then returned to earth and taught the disciples for 40 days, then returned to heaven (Acts 1:9) to make reconciliation for his people, where he remains.

If we can't get rid of our sins, we ARE HELL BOUND.

You are right about Peter speaking to the Jews, BUT did you notice

Acts 2:38-39
38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

Now what about this?

Matthew 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

What do you think of those in Acts 8, 10 and 19 ALL GETTING THE SAME MESSAGE??

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN??

"That the new way, in Christ, would be the means to find forgiveness for their sins."

Baptizing back then did not have to automatically mean water.
Water was only used for one kind of baptism.

Here is an example of what I speak....

For I do not want you to be ignorant of the fact, brothers and sisters, that our
ancestors were all under the cloud and that they all passed through the sea.
They were all baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea. They all ate the
same spiritual food and drank the same spiritual drink; for they drank from the
spiritual rock that accompanied them, and that rock was Christ. 1 Corinthians 10:1-4

One can become baptized into a person. By being immersed by God into his life in such a way that you will become totally identified with him, like the Jews had with Moses.

So, to baptize the nations into the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit?
The gentile nations they were going to never heard of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

That baptism was to get the new gentile converts to become immersed into spiritual realities of the God of Christianity, to be making God their life.

For, the nations outside of Israel where the apostles were to be sent had not known God's ways.
To baptize them meant? To get the people immersed into teachings of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Like the Jews had been baptized into the teachings and life set by Moses.

"They were all baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea."

Only one baptism is now for us.
For it says...
We have all been baptized by the Spirit into one body. 1 Corinthians 12:13

Jesus command did not mean dunking everyone in water while using the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
That would cause no understanding to be benefiting the dunked ones.
It would have been a mere ritual without understanding.

Today, can we have believers have water baptism and Spirit baptism?
The answer is no.

Because?
There is to be only one baptism in the Church age. Not two!

There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when
you were called; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all,
who is over all and through all and in all. Ephesians 4:4-6

Learning the Word of God in detail will at times take interesting turns in our thinking, to get us back on the road where we should be.

grace and peace!

Can a once truly saved believer backslide too much and lose the gift of salvation? If so do they need to repent and ask for forgiveness through Christ again? Thoughts are welcome and scripture too!
Everyone’s long and winding road to that Door (salvation) is unique. So I can only attempt to answer this question from my own unique journey and experience. I believe that on that long and winding road there can be a lot of profound experiences that can make one believe they have finally reached that Door and passed through it (saved). But in reality there are not many who even come near that Door let alone pass through it, and over time wind up doing much of what they were always doing with the exception of perhaps attending a church. When one is finally properly prepared by God and made ready through a lengthily process to finally reach that Door and pass through it, the experience is so undeniably real and profound, like Cornelius when he stood in terror before the angel, or when Paul heard a voice from heaven and was struck with blindness, or when a voice called out to Moses from a burning bush, or when a voice called to Abram from heaven, that the impression of that experience was so real, so profound and so transforming that it would be impossible to exit back through that same Door that you came in through, and go back to living the same fruitless, unsightly and embarrassing way of life you had prior to your lengthily preparation to reach that Door and pass through it.
