What do you mean by "doing good things make you good" ?
Doing good things does not automatically equate to you being a good person.

Do you really not understand the implications of this?

If evil people were bad all the time they would not have been able to fool so many people for so long that
when their wickedness came to light, others would not say things like, he was a pillar of the community.

I gonna take the night now, it's neary 23:00 here in Norway.
But I have to say something before I leave:

Please be sceptical ! Do not believe any claims without investigating the proofs of the claim seriously. If someone is saying to you, like, "There is only one way to God" and we all understand that person is really saying "And that way is the way I believe" - please do not believe him or her. Investigate the "proofs". Be sceptical, be critical. Search truth through evidence, not through hysterical claims from people.

I wish you good luck in your life. Thank you for your attention.

OK, pray along !

Maybe there is a God, I do not know for sure. But if there really is a God, a lot of human beings are standing in the way, making it very difficult to see Him. They are shouting about this and that, with their strong opinions, preventing me and others seeing the God behind these shouting people. I think that is a problem, also for you christians.
Precious friend, @the_seeker, A Very Warm Welcome!

My suggestion is to ignore all that is "in the way" so that you cannot "see Him." Truth is,
neither have we. Simply look up at the universe! What do you think? If the following
statement Is True, then what?:

"....the invisible things of Him [ God ] from the creation of the world are clearly seen,
being understood by the things that are made, even His Eternal Power and Godhead;
so that they [ unrighteous ] are without excuse" (Rom 1:20)
One simple question: Have you "clearly seen" and are you one of the unrighteous who are
"without excuse"?

What do you think?

Why not just be a good person; why should you commit to this or that religion ?
Here's the thing, one can be a model person but w/o Christ, the anointed One, they won't get into Heaven. That means they will go to the other place....for eternity. God only recognizes the Jesus in us on Judgment Day. So I'd give it a good think, for sure, it's major🙏👍

I was raised Jewish and with my Christian wife's encouragement I have become comfortable and accepting of Christian spirituality. On the other hand, I still have my doubts and am confused by the astounding number of conflicting denominations.
Hi Larry112, I remember you from 2024, welcome back to CC! I myself attend non-denom churches and a Four Square Church as a kid. One, I admit, was a Holy Roller church which I loved and taught the Bible. Don't let the titles bother you as long as the church is teaching from the Bible. God bless & keep you and yours🙏✝✡

what is then the definition of a "christian" ?
A Christian is someone who is born again of the Holy Spirit of God and has placed their faith in His propitiatory sacrifice
via the shedding of His righteous blood for the remission of sins (He paid the sin debt for those who would believe).

to follow Jesus Christ, a.k.a. become a Christian, you have to die to yourself and come alive in Him! this means denying our flesh and worldly desires and bearing the fruits of the Spirit… love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. we are all sinners. we all sin no matter what. Jesus is perfect. He never sinned when He was on Earth. we can sin less by looking to Him. every Christian’s walk with Him is different. He loves you!

Great to hear and know you want to become completely a Christian. You can become completely a Christian after you become born again and after start attending a genuine Church that preach and teach the truth about God and having christian friends who you share the truth about God with just has we are doing now and fellowshipping with God together.
You need to accept the Holy Spirit and be baptised.
You need to study the word of God personally and let the Holy Spirit teach you. The Holy Spirit guide us into all truth.
There are lots of false prophets and teachers spreading false doctrine around that's why you/we need to study the word of God personally and let the Holy Spirit teach you/us and anything you don't understand ask genuine Christians just as you've done asking how you can be a complete Christian.
Daddy God help you to completely be a Christian and God reveal his truth to you more in Jesus name Amen.

Precious friend, @Larry112, I know what you mean. Many years ago I had a conflict with the
many traditions of the the Many different denominational water baptismS. But God Is
Faithful, And Led
me To His Word Of Truth, Rightly Divided, To finally "solve my conflict."

Please Be Very Richly Encouraged And Edified
In Christ, And In His Precious Word Of Life!:

Here is my personal study: ONE [ Spiritual ] Baptism For us, Today, Under God's Grace.

Amen.

Why not being an agnostic, like me ?
Because there is no objective [material] way to ground the existence of everything that exists without a God who is Himself un-caused and possesses unbounded intelligence. This was a central issue to me when I was considering whether I myself had any purpose or meaning that was not arbitrary.

Hitler was nice to his dog Blondie, until he poisoned him to test the cyanide.

Hi Larry!!! I remember you from when you were posting a while back, when I saw your screen-name I was like "Wait, is that THE Larry?!?!" So good to see you again, I have been praying for you! 😁

It's OK to have doubts. I would encourage you to talk directly to God about your doubts, and maybe talk to a trusted Christian friend as well. One of my favorite stories in the Bible is about a dad who wanted Jesus to heal his son. Jesus said the dads' faith wasn't strong enough. And the dad responded "Lord, I believe... but help me with my unbelief!" That statement proved that the man had enough faith, because he knew WHO supplies us with faith in the first place. Jesus could and did give him all he needed. Go directly to the source!

Regarding the different denominations, I understand why it would be confusing but think of them kind of like restaurants. Perhaps you have a favorite restaurant where you love to go but none of your friends think much of it. Or maybe there's a restaurant in your area a lot of people rave about but you don't really like eating there. As long as the restaurant is serving safe, edible food it's not "bad"... just maybe not your personal style or where you feel comfortable.

I attend a non-denominational church, we just follow The Bible and it's a good fit for me. The Bible doesn't even speak of denominations, only believers and non-believers. If you are a believer and follower of the risen Christ then you are a part of the true church and joining a particular denomination isn't necessary! 😎

All the best, it's good to see you again!

I can understand that.

Why so many? Men don't like HIS word so they put their own twist on it and start different denomations and call them selves Christians. Are they if their not following HIS word.

Follow JESUS and HIS word not man and his oppinoin.

You can seperate those who share HIS word only and those who tell you what it says.

The most important thing is a good foundation so that means you need to use ALL of HIS word.

John 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

HIS word is clear, have to be born of water and of spirit to enter.

Acts 2:38-39
38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

GOD BLESS you in your walk.

John 14:6 New International Version 6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

John 3:16 New International Version
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Acts 2:38 - And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Matthew 6:14-15 New International Version
14 For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.
