The much better and more appropriate questions would be: Why do you trust in mere humans? How do YOU know that they recorded or remembered everything accurately the apostles told them? Or why do you elevate their writings to the level of the inspired, infallible Word of God?
There is only one "Elect" Who was foreordained before the foundation of the World. Those who believe are not "elect" until they believe.

I love what is written in Proverbs concerning wisdom. Proverbs should be taught in our junior high and high schools ...

You need your own catalogue of Bible doctrine stored in your spirit to do that.
Wisdom might be only human reasoning without an accurate understanding of Scripture.
Those with false doctrine assume themselves to have wisdom.
Wisdom involves more than just human reasoning; it requires a deep understanding of Scripture and the application of God's principles to life.
Where are you going to get that understanding unless God provides a competent and accurate teacher?

Work more hours, you get more pay.
The Lord loves His people.
The Lord was providing for their daily needs,
and had them do some work for him to reveal their desire to do as He desires of them.
Meaning?
We are not to compete against other believers to get more from the Lord.
Both had their daily needs equally provided for.
The first shall be last, and the last shall be first = needs provided for by a loving God.
Like a parent showing no favoritism between an older and youngest child that he equally loves.
