ALL Christians should be able to walk in all the gifts Jesus manifested, it is the same "gift", the gift of Holy Spirit that is the source, we must grow in gifting, we have not because we ask not.

1 Corinthians 12:15-26

15 If the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body”, that would not make it any less a part of the body. 16 And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body”, that would not make it any less a part of the body. 17 If the whole body were an eye, where would be the sense of hearing? If the whole body were an ear, where would be the sense of smell? 18 But as it is, God arranged the members in the body, each one of them, as he chose. 19 If all were a single member, where would the body be? 20 As it is, there are many parts,[a] yet one body.

21 The eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you”, nor again the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.” 22 On the contrary, the parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, 23 and on those parts of the body that we think less honourable we bestow the greater honour, and our unpresentable parts are treated with greater modesty, 24 which our more presentable parts do not require. But God has so composed the body, giving greater honour to the part that lacked it, 25 that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another. 26 If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honoured, all rejoice together.

Not all should or will operate in the same giftings, or will hold all of the giftings. Each person is different and should appreciate their special giftings that God has bestowed upon them.

Sorry if im misunderstanding you, but when you say ALL Christians should be able to walk in ALL the giftings, it could either mean two things

One being that all Christians have giftings avalible to them and there will be diversity in the body. But all giftings will be present

Or as it was taught to me, all Christians should be able to do all miracles/have all giftings.

It is true that we all have certain giftings that we specialize in however if one is willing I see no reason that one could not operate in all the gifts to some extent

I have been used in gifts that I normally do not operate in before simply because I told god II was willing

No, it means we have the potential to grow into all the gifts. Remember how Jesus said His Own would do greater works than He?
Our thinking oftentimes leads us to "either or" thinking when our infinite Creator is way beyond that.

I do remember in the Bible that we are instructed to desire the giftings, or rather I believe the Corinthians were.

I do not see where the Biblical text implies that we can grow into all of the giftings.

I think Jesus was saying that his own would do greater works than he, that does not imply that all will have all giftings.

Some would argue that most of the giftings are still around today, but not all. Here are some reasons why.

As for prophesy, some think that gifting as ceased and use Hebrews 1:1-3 as a reason. I am of the opinion that prophesy still exists as I don't see why Paul would say to test prophesy. 1 Thessalonians 5:20-21

As for tongues, I am of the opinion that people who refute it as a gifting have no Biblical support to do so. But I also see from the far other side, that some Charismatics see tongues as God given babble. I am of the opinion that tongues exist, but that they are not babble, but existing languages that you would not otherwise know unless gifted from God in that moment. Lets say Mandarin, or Spanish for example.

Now I do believe that the gifting of apostleship has ended in the way that the main apostles were apostles. I believe I have good reason to do so. There's this verse Ephesians 2:20-21 which to me insinuates that Christ ministry(us being brought into the body) was built on the ministry of the apostles/prophets, mainly through preaching the word of God. Some might come to believe that since the Bible is formulated, and done being written that apostleship in the form of special revelation is not proper for the church today, given that we are not to add to the word of God. It is also worth noting that when talking about Church leadership/roles in 1 Timothy, Apostleship was not noted. Historically, Apostolic succession was not a practice during or around the time of the apostles, but came a bit later. Now there are Apostles listed in the NT, those being missionaries, "ones sent by God", but they church planted and taught the word of God. They weren't spiritual leaders that gave divine revelation directly given from God himself. I like to think of the role of what would be modern apostles done right as missionaries.

As for encouragement/ the other giftings, people don't seem to refute those. People see teaching as a gift today, along with any other uncontroversial gifting. It's mainly these three that I have seen disagreement with.

Wait what about Healing/Miracles? how could I forget. I don't see how anyone could have any scriptural evidence or historical reason to discount the gifting of Miracles, which God surly can work into the lives of believers. Now I believe a huge part of people disliking these are the fact that people lie and give these giftings a bad name. I've even been "healed"....which I wasn't. When I tried to speak up I was silenced and shamed. Yet I still know these things exist.

to your points:

in context some would argue, I respectfully, say where is the biblical support to argue for or against.

the point about apostles I agree the Context of "A" Apostle and "a" apostles in the word of God are very much different.

The 12 are Eyewitnesses to the Resurrected Lord who were sent by HIM. Waited for the empowerment of the Holy Spirit Matthew 28:19

those who apostles after the Ascension of our Lord into Heaven the office of prophet, apostles, evangelist and pastors.
Teacher was added later to be known as the fivefold ministries. Eph 4:11 were appointed after prayer and the hands laid on that person and empowerment of the Holy Spirit. Yet the role of all were to the church mission and the body of Christ.
get people saved from preaching the gospel message then disciple them. See if the Holy Spirit would place on them the desire to minister or serve. Also administrative gifts were introduced and other offices like Bishop and Decon. Jesus never used those terms .

The were created by the Holy Spirit through the changes and needed of the church as it grew and became established.

Down through the generation healing and miracles have not stopped. God has choose no to speak at times due to sin and idolatry that is very much clear in what we know as the dark ages.

Post# 224 and previous posts was about your inability to define an opinion or a circle, as well as your suspected lack of passing high school. Your inability to proof-read your writing is still a problem, so if I am missing something you can chalk it up to that.

Mormons believe that their apostles speak for God.
Catholics believe that the Pope is the Vicar of Christ.
And Pentecostals believe that their interpreted tongues are directly from God.
very weak response.

See you don't have the ability to discuss the context of the Gifts of the Holy Spirt. I have many times provided biblical text, passages, chapters and verse to support my understanding of the Holy Spirit and the empowering of the Holy Spirit.
What you have done is to simply prove that these events were happening during the Age of the Apostles and nothing more. You have not shown that the scriptures insist that this miraculous age is still upon us.

Proving something happened in the past does not prove its continuation and this is the folly that you are pushing.

To maintain that the Bible promotes the notion that this age was to continue into our time is both outlandish and unscriptural.

You would be wise to rethink your faith in the claims of the Pentecostal movement.

a huge topic, year after year! i say NO! 1st Corinthians 13:8 "whether there shall be tongues, they shall cease...." every time i have seen tongues exhibited, it was gibberish, non sense. you could easily discern it too.

I commend you for being open-minded about this subject and seeing both sides.
My experience leads me to believe that although God may perform miracles of timing from time to time,
He no longer enables individuals to have miraculous gifts such as the gift of healing, probably because
those were necessary at the time of the founding of the Christian church (Acts 2:43), but His normative
way of working is for us to walk by faith in the Gospel rather than by seeing miracles. (2Cor. 5:7)

LOL Then just remove the church History after 95 AD, ok. Don't use Polycarp, Ignatius, Clement, and others who documented miracles after John's death.

All the gifts are available, He didn't and doesn't stutter but speaks very clearly that He changes not, He is the same, yesterday, today, and forever.

What does Polycarp, Ignatius, Clement and others witnessing or writing about have to do with the physical supernatural manifestations happening today?

How can you be so blind to the difference between then and now?

Something happening in the past does not prove it is currently happening today.

Do you truly not understand this concept?

Yes, the Bible records tangible supernatural manifestations happening during the time of its writing.
Yes, there may be some recorded manifestations during the time of the early church followers.
But this does not prove that there are manifestations happening or being recorded today.

If one does not see the connection, best to move on to a site with better soil.

You can insult and display your ignorance of Biblical context, please continue.

IF you can read, as you are such a grammatical expert. You would have seen why I responded as such.

which was to this comment below:

"What you have done is to simply prove that these events were happening during the Age of the Apostles and nothing more. You have not shown that the scriptures insist that this miraculous age is still upon us."

The Bible and church history in the Book of Acts did not continue after Chapter 28. But the church was very much alive and going.

To establish continuity of events, we need eyewitness accounts. Those who were like the church fathers are :

Polycarp, Ignatius, Clement, and others, witnessing, testify to the word of God and miraculous happenings.

By your own comment, please disregard Martin Luther and John Calvin, who were also testifying many years after the Apostolic age of the Spirit of God moving during the Reformation.

And which is documented, and eyewitness accounts have been provided down through the ages until today. Even in times when God has been silent or not moving, Revivals have come forth and witnessed to. That information has been provided to you and others repeatedly. BUT you choose to insult and mock. Please continue.

Furthermore, the same God is doing the same thing he did then as HE does now. IF you are not seeing it, get out of your dead Church and out of your dead mindset. I know what I have seen and testify to. You are the blind one. I have already seen you; not seeing is not my problem. That is yours.

Your inability to see this is comical.
