I know it's bad. Trump is the best example. From day one of his political career in 2016, there has been a single negative persistent steamroller against him in the media. And many people believe it. And those who don't believe they don't dare to speak out publicly. And that's the case with practically all controversial topics.
I can't describe it in a few words. It would almost need its own thread here. Maybe I'll start one. There have been a few topics where I thought about posting this on CC. Anyway, it's also extremely crazy here, maybe in some parts even crazier than in the U.S..
In a sense, I almost hate to say it, but what Kirk fought for was the right for idiots like this to say what they want and for others to engage them and show they're idiots - "vile" works too - yet the personal attack can be laid aside to show the thinking and speech and even activity as Biblically vile.

Good to know you also condemn the left and the riots in LA, Oregon, Chicago etc. But those are all the left-wing activists, many of whom are paid for and shriek for a living. Take Mr. Zohran for example, running for mayor in NY. His coffers are full, but more than half has come from OUTSIDE NY. He is rich himself but promises to give away bascially whatever people are currently paying for. Public transport is scary now; imagine what it will be like with a free ride. But that's another story. Talk about activism! Just skip the communism light and go to full blown takeover of private property and the distribution of wealth to people who will blow it within a month but it's the thought that counts.

You’re right, and there have been untold numbers of wicked, insanely happy people today because this wonderful, Godly Christian brother was murdered.

In a sense, I think this focus on what's thought, said, ultimately acted from inside to out is in part what it means that our battle is not against flesh and blood.
