It seems that much more likely than not, that theology and fellowship are divided into 2 groups more often than not and it causes for great spiritual and communal damage.

Theology has its place and everyone has a right to an opinion, but theology is not what one is going to be judged by and nor does it make for a good testimony for Jesus. You will be judged by your fruits and deeds, as Jesus says "Woe to you who call my name and say we did......in my Name but I will deny you for you are men of lawlessness (good deeds, fellowship, faith etc).

In short, Theology has only created wars, separation, divorces, communal separations, hate and lots of pride/ego. It shouldn't but the Satan knows how to divide and conquer very well. A great example to prove how much G-d hates this, is between the Flood and the Tower of Babel. In the time of the Flood, people were steeped in sin and great hatred of one another and G-d destroyed humanity, minus Noah and his family. In the time of the Towel of Babel, almost all of humanity was waging war with The G-d Almighty and yet, He only dispersed them because they were all united in one cause.

"For they will know me by their love"...Jesus wants you to learn how to develop yourselves and how to love one another, how to forgive one another, how to be humble and meek for the sake of loving another brother, to pray and love your enemies, to fellowship with another another and much more! Hence, this is why we get married (no pun intended). Marriage is a difficult task but G-d deliberately wants 2 people who are complete opposites to unite their differences and build a family. The proofs of G-d are endless on how much more G-d wants unity and fellowship over theology and the fall of pride and ego that comes with it.

"Theology" means the study of God and God's Word, which includes what you just quoted!

I think the word “Religion” would work better in your premise.

Go and make disciples of all nations... based on what? Psychology? Sociology?

2 Corinthians 5:20
Therefore we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making His
appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ: Be reconciled to God.

Ephesians 4:12
It was He who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some
to be pastors and teachers, to equip the saints for works of ministry and to build up the body of
Christ, until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God, as we mature
to the full measure of the stature of Christ.

2Ti 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

2Ti 3:15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
2Ti 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
2Ti 3:17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

The·ol·o·gy

The study of the nature of God and religious belief:

Religious beliefs and theory when systematically developed.

People are going to fight with each other over their beliefs whether it is called theology or not.

The term theology does not mean anything because what it means is the different beliefs.

People are going to fight over their different beliefs even before the term theology.

The term theology did not come about and then the world started fighting with each.

We have to study the word of God to show ourselves approved unto God.

And so we live right.

So if theology means to understand Christianity then we will be judged by our theology.

That is how we perfect ourselves throughly furnished unto all good works is by reading the scriptures.

Some people allow the Spirit to lead them and some do not.

So there will be different beliefs in the world.

God dispersed the people because He had told them to multiply and fill the earth, and they refused. There is nothing in the text to suggest that He "only" dispersed them because they had been united in a cause. The Korahites were "united" in their rebellion, and they were all swallowed by the ground.

Unity is meaningless unless it is to the right cause. We are to be united in our devotion to Christ, which in turn is founded on our common faith in His shed blood for our atonement and His lordship over us. The key is not to set theology aside, but to employ it for the right purposes.

I am part of a team that chooses which songs we will sing for our "worship" services. Many times, someone has suggested a song that is musically appropriate for our needs, but I reject it because it isn't soundly biblical. I will not allow "unity" to supersede theology where theology should be first.

I also volunteer at a parachurch ministry, where I rub elbows with other Christians who have some very different beliefs than mine. I choose not to debate theology with them, because our purpose there is to serve the target group for that ministry, most of whom know very little about God.

We will indeed be judged on our theology, just not on matters about which many people argue. Different perspectives on eschatology will not determine our salvation, but different perspectives on the nature of Jesus may. :)

I love the paragraph that starts with "For they will know me by their love". Concerning unity though, we are already united by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit acts like a portal through which Father and Son can enter the being indwelled. Every saint becomes the Temple of the Father and Son when they receive this portal. We become part of the body of Jesus Christ and since he is the head we follow his will. If there is disharmony in a congregation, it is because not everyone is indwelled. However, harmony does not equate to following true doctrine.

However, harmony does not equate to following true doctrine.

Nor does being indwelt by the HS equate to being filled with the HS.

When a sinner learns the NT Gospel of Christ, repents and confesses Jesus as Lord (Acts 20:21, Rom. 10:9), the Holy Spirit (HS) enters the convert’s heart (Rom. 5:5), uniting them with God as heavenly Father (Rom. 8:9) and identifying them with Christ’s worldwide/catholic body or church (Col. 1:18), which moment is called spiritual rebirth (John 3:3-8) or “baptism by the Spirit” (1Cor. 12:13). Because a convert's commitment to Christ is in accordance with God's perfect will (1Tim. 2:3-4), the moment of Spirit baptism fulfills the command to be filled with the Spirit (in Eph. 5:18), which means to cooperate fully with the love of God (Eph. 3:16-19).

The outward evidence that someone was baptized by the HS and is Spirit-filled (Eph. 5:18) or walking with God is the manifestation of the fullness of Christ (Eph. 3:19, 4:13) or fruit of the Spirit, which consists of such attributes as those listed in Gal. 5:22-23: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Jesus said “All men will know that you are my disciples if you love one another” (John 13:35, 1John 4:7-21), because “love” sums up the moral character of God (1John 4:7-8). (He did NOT say “…if you are water baptized", even though it is an appropriate rite portraying a believer's death and resurrection in Christ.)

A new convert does not achieve immediate perfection by remaining filled with the HS (Phil. 3:12). Instead, the combination of temptations, ignorance of GW and the old selfish nature results in immature saints committing post-conversion sins, at which time the are carnal or acting like unbelievers (1Cor. 3:1). As soon as new Christians realize they sinned, they should confess it (1John 1:9a) rather than compound it by trying to hide it or cover it up like Adam and Eve did (Gen. 3:7-8). Whenever a believer acknowledges to God his/her known sins of immoral attitudes and actions, God forgives all sins (1John 1:9b). This means he/she is pleasing rather than grieving God or once again is Spirit-filled (walking in the Spirit) and has a right relationship with Christ Jesus (Eph. 4:30, 5:10 & 18).
