Yres his word is like an onion or the earth's crust it has many layers to it you can read a verse one day and then the next find a deeper meaning to it the next

In the past I've tried to get people to understand this; with most, it's a futile effort. Some have never been taught how to present their ideas clearly; others, I think, do it for attention; and others simply can't help themselves for whatever reason. I finally had to start ignoring people who do this. Chaotic posts reflect a chaotic mind and are a bit unsettling.

Another trend that really irritates me is posting every sentence on a new line. I don't know who came up with this or where it started, but I can't read them, it's too aggravating and too hard to follow. It's like every new line is a new thought.
Your OP does not very clearly express what you wish to convey, and is a bit chaotic.

Why don't we try to identify things that make reading posts easier, and then those that wish to can adopt the practices they find suitable

its isn't worth it, not in the least, to be bothered by a trivial matter. people shall be free in their postings to post how desired.

My solution to poorly formatted posts is easy: I just ignore them
we all shall be mindful of people who aren't educated in the english ( american ), ways of grammar, sentencing, phrasing, etc. i myself, have big hands & fingers so i use short cuts to type as quickly as possible. i don't use capitals hardly ever. any savings on typing, i'll do.

Some of us do the best we can. We may lack the education some have and not use the proper presentation, but that does not make us dumb. I fully understand when others find my post hard to read or understand.
But I also find some post hard to read and understand when I have to use my dictionary to understand the words used.
Hopefully we can continue to discuss the many subjects on this forum.

Really it should be as easy to understand as it would for a child the gospel is not hard to understand but when we over complicate things or make a doctrine out of a single verse then that is when things get difficult

Amen!

Nothing worse than chasing down a singled out Verse being used for a false doctrine. That when you find the location of that cherry picked Verse and read the Verses before and afterwards you clearly see it doesn't even remotely come close to how it's being used when all alone on Its own.

“read the Verses before and afterwards “

amen that’s how prayerfully to study the Bible and make sure what your hearing from another person is accurate or if they might be mistaken with what they told you .

Then we’re actually relying on this source

“and that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: that the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.”
‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭3:15-17‬ ‭KJV‬‬

And tbose false doctrines have no disguise then . False teachers rely on thier students trusting them and never actually studying the context as you’re wisely advising. That’s all we need to keep in the truth trust what we’re learning from his word .

They need to limit you to only the one or two verses at a time they pluck from its context them explain to you long messages from a verse or two . Often when you look like you are saying it’s totally off base and didn’t even relate to the subject they preached about or advice they’ve given you.

Amen good to see you back and active blainer ! Well said also often we humans don’t take time to read it and pray and consider what we read .

God wants us to know what he said to us wants us to seek him in his word so if we also pray as we open our bibles and close them or however and whenever and ask him for understanding of his word he will always answer that ask .

Mostly I think some Christian’s simply don’t take time to read the Bible much at all so then it’s gonna be hard understand it and tell others what’s there for them

Amen . It’s not a seminary . Or church or private forum …. It’s a public one that includes a lot of the world . I’d think we should expect people will write differently , word things differently , maybe not even have good grammar . But again it’s a public open forum

Id say if it bothers someone how another person is posting in any way don’t interact or put them on ignore if you’re really bugged by it. Rather than ranting and trying to conform everyone to your likings .

Public places are a good practice to learn some tolerance of others. especially something that’s a personal preference like how you want the other person to present to you.

the ignore button works wonders if someone’s bothered by another poster it’s like they aren’t here anymore just fyi

I want you to judge my posts if I have done this or not. I hope not. The way I quote it usually is like this:

mypostmypost mypost it says

Matthew 1:1
This is the genealogy of Jesus the Messiah the son of David, the son of Abraham:

Thats how i always quote em. I think you can easily tell what is my words and what is the Bible quotes. But if not, I can work on it.

What I mean is treating it as if it is literally his words not just some text
As you are aware Blain there are different types of 'word' of God.

  • Logos:
    • Represents the comprehensive, overall Word of God.
    • Often associated with the Bible as a whole, or the written Word.
    • Can also refer to Jesus Christ as the divine Logos, the Word made flesh.
    • Provides a foundation and framework of truth.
  • Rhema:
    • Refers to a specific, personally relevant word or phrase from God.
    • Often received through inspiration, revelation, or during a specific situation.
    • Requires application and faith for it to be effective.
    • Can be a quickened verse from the Bible or a specific instruction from the Holy Spirit.

Just putting this here so those who may not already know, will know =)

And yet Peter says that Paul wrote things hard to understand.... under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, as well. If God didn't insist on His scribes using Grade 5 Greek and Hebrew, maybe not everything God has to say through today's saints needs to be written in Grade 5 English.

It is true that there are some things that are hard to understand but that is what the holy spirit is for

While I see your point and generally agree with you, I have to ask: where are these rules in Scripture?

In other words, what you have presented is a set of rules that you have developed for yourself and think everyone should follow them. You have nothing but your opinion to back it up. Even if you could cite a few sources in books, these rules would be the opinions of those authors and not Scripture.

Though you have framed this as a moral issue, it isn’t. The conclusions you draw about others are simply your own pride (or indignation) at work. You could, with equal authority, state that everyone should quote only the KJV… with predictable results.

Amen! This is the best post here on this issue. I could not have said it better. It is absolutely great to be careful at how we present and use the Word of God. But how you post Scripture is not a moral issue. We don't need a list of rules of how to post on this forum. If you don't like, can't read, can't understand, or don't like someone's format, just skip it, or ignore it.

Do you respect the Word of God enough that you will always see to it that you do your very best to make sure that your every presentation of bible verses is done in the most clean-and-clear neat God-honoring manner possible?

Or, do you just throw it around carelessly as if it is not any more important or special than any other wording that you might put in your posts.

I have noticed that many on here are quite sloppy with their presentation of bible verses.

Why is that? Are you just lazy or what?

Why would you not want to make sure that book names along with chapter and verse numbers are always present and having the full correct spelling of names and properly positioned-and-spaced numbers?

A verse number should never be found jammed together with the verse text. Proper spacing is important to the cadence of reading the text.

And, if you do not see the importance of providing some kind of separation between bible verses and what you are saying - you need to do some critical self-examination. Seriously.

I cringe when I see people run bible verses and whatever they are saying together without any form of separation whatsoever. No putting comments about verses in parentheses. (Or, at least, offset by some reasonable means.) No line spacing. No anything. Just run together - one sentence is a bible verse and the next one is their added comments. And, the next one is a bible verse. Embedded comments with no indication that they are not part of what should be a reading of the Word of God. This should never occur.

How you present the Word of God in your posts tells me a lot about the true nature of your approach to the Word of God.

If the Word of God is really-and-truly special to you - you will always do your best to give it special treatment in your posts - making it "set apart" from everything else and "lifted up" above it.

When you throw it around like you copied-and-pasted it from a garbage dump - well - that says something about you... ;)

( Don't bother to try to "teach" me something from the Word of God if you cannot even present it properly in your posts. )
Have you taken the time to learn enough biblical Greek and Hebrew to be able to judge whether your Bible translations are accurately presenting God's word?
