In a time of spiritual confusion having one believe this way while another believes another way we need to get back to the roots of our faith. far to often the differences in our understanding of scripture and theology creates division and sometimes even rude remarks but we are supposed to be one in Christ one in spirit one in love
Remember that we fight not against the flesh or each other but against evil spirits and the devil himself, even if one among you causes discourse remember it is not them you are against but the spirit behind them. We as the church need to become like little children stop overcomplicating everything stop making faith and salvation so confusing to understand and believe.
Remember also that when we were babes faith was simple love was abundant in our hearts our eyes gleamed with life but some among us have since grown old in spirit worn and the light in their eyes has diminished. Oh yes many know the scriptures well we can go against the best of them with verse after verse but what does this accomplish? what purpose does this serve? righteousness? truth? love? no none of these it only serves our ego and justification for ourselves.
Do any of you remember what it was like? to have that spark in you? that passion burning like a fire inside your soul? do you remember how each verse you read satisfied you as if your eating food for the first time? drinking water as if for the first time? We have grown in wisdom yes but also some of us have become cold and calculated some among us have lost that fire and traded it for being sola scripture calculated in mind but cold in spirit
Do you remember the absolute joy and life in worship? where your body cannot help but move and dance? where your arms cannot reach to heaven high enough? where the joy pours out of you like overflowing water? that special place of worship where you could do it all day everyday for all eternity? do you know of this now or have you lost that? have you forgotten or do you still live it?
Let me ask this also what do you use the scriptures for? is it a sharp blade or does it bring fruitfulness? does it encourage and build up or tear down? do we pull verses from out of context or do we take into consideration the whole word of God?
I pray there are few teachers among you for we need not more teachers we need more students, we need those who can hear the voice of the spirit and not their own, we need the gentle caring and loving ones simple in mind but bright in heart.
Love is simple love is kind love is like the wind that fans the flame not diminishes, We must not forget the innocence we once had yes we must grow and become wise but never forget or toss aside the simplicity of the child at heart that babe in Christ hungry for more thirsty for more always absorbing everything like a sponge We must use our calling to build one another up encourage and strengthen one another use the scriptures to do this not to use for petty debates or justification of this doctrine or that belief niether should we use our knowledge to try one another but to be in one accord
This is a call for unity a call of remembrance a call for love
