While Revelation is filled with symbolic language, it comes directly from the rest of the Bible. Not everything is symbolic, but if it doesn't make since literally chances are its symbolic and the rest of the Bible will interpret Revelation if we allow it to. Peter isn't speaking about how interpretations of prophecy can be personally done in error ie: a false understanding of prophecy a person has created themselves.

In context, he is saying no writer of prophecy personally invented the prophecies they penned...that these things came from God unto men, not men invented fake prophecies.

2Pe 1:16 For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.
2Pe 1:17 For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

I am sticking to what the Scripture clearly states that is not based on our own interpretation and if we allow the Scriptures to interpret Itself which it does including all the signs and symbols in Revelation instead of guessing or using our own interpretation, which is depending on self and not God Pro 3:5-6

That's exactly what I have been trying to share with you, not to use our own interpretations. The Book of Revelation is the Revelation of Jesus Christ why would He leave it up to man to privately interpret, because He didn't. A large part of the symbols and signs in Revelation can be found word for word in the rest of the Bible, why would one not use the Bible to interpret Itself inspired by Jesus Himself for ungodly minds to make it say something it doesn't. Why anyone would argue against this, unless they are not interested in Biblical Truth. Guess it will all get sorted out soon enough.
