Why then do we compare our saving Belief to the demons who cannot Believe for salvation?

Isn't the answer about the demons, "their trust and reliance are in Satan as demonstrated by their rebellion..." the more fundamental issue with their belief vs. Belief? IOW, who is God to them?
I'm comparing mental assent belief from the head with saving belief from the heart.

@studier, @lrs68 i heard this a few years ago best example I heard

A man tied a tightrope from one side of Niagara Falls to the other. He then got a wheelbarrow and gathered enough large rocks to roughly equal weight of a normal human

He then crossed the Niagara Falls multiple times with no issue

A crowd gathered and were astonished he could do this (one slip meant certain death)

He spoke to them and told him who he was and what he was doing. After a few more times he asked everyone

Who believes I can take a real person across. Everyone raised their hand. He proved he could do it. So everyone BELIEVED

He then asked for Volunteer's. Sadly at this everyone looked at everyone else. I one would volunteer

You see they believed he could
Do it. But they were not confident he could take them. They did not trust he would make it. They were not assured he would succeed with them

They believed. But they had no faith

What is the difference between the heart and the head?

The chair that you sit in. Is it your head belief or your heart belief that puts faith in it to hold you up?

The calvies tell us that our hearts are evil and wicked( they are right) until we are saved.

Yes, there are many such illustrations. We can also read Rom4:16-22 to see the words Paul used to describe Abraham's [not weak] faith but we should recognize that this short narrative is covering several years of Abraham's life.

Abraham was saved in gen 15. Not decades later

Show where the illustration fails

Did a abraham believe in gen 15. Or did he have faith?

I follow you. Is salvation a belief issue with demons or is their issue rebellion against God?
I was just making a point that even though the demons are in rebellion to God, they still believe in their head that there is one God and they also believe certain facts about Jesus, but their belief is not saving belief.

Just as there are also folks who profess to be Christians and believe certain facts about Jesus in their head, without trusting in Jesus alone for salvation (but instead trust in works for salvation) which falls short of saving belief.
