Chinese Factories Collapse: 80% of Orders Gone, No Way to Survive on Domestic Sales!
The amount of orders cancelled is much greater than anticipated. It turns out that domestic orders are down since people are losing their jobs and much of the exports to other countries are also down as they are being impacted as well.
I would also point out the political situation in China is very different from the US. In China the people routinely put up with a lot more than we do but the expectation is that they have a solid security net for life. Losing jobs is seen as a much bigger violation of the social contract in China than in the US. In the US we don't expect our government to provide us with a job and we had an election where we got to choose our government. Those two things means there is less expectation and blame on the government if you lose your job. People will still protest and complain, but in China the threat is revolt.
I don't think anyone knows the true population of China anymore. There have been several credible estimates based on the data that the true population is 400 million. They accessed cell phone data, school enrollment and even soy sauce sales to calculate this. However, China is no longer publishing that data anymore. So now we are hearing anecdotal accounts of ghost towns, empty streets, empty railroad stations, etc. The one thing that is reliable is that we know their incinerators have been working full time ever since the pandemic.
Four years ago it seemed absurd that China would want to kill their own people. But look at it today. All these people being laid off from their jobs. They knew about 3d printers in 2020, they knew the writing was on the wall, the Chinese model of cheap exports was going to collapse. Prior to Trump's tariffs they put on a strong face that 30% of their economy was based on exports to the US. So they could weather this. What they didn't admit to but no doubt knew was that much of the other exports went to countries involved in a supply chain that ultimately was exported to the US or Europe. So in reality 50% of their exports would be immediately impacted by these tariffs. They also knew that when these companies went bust 50% of the domestic demand would also collapse. In reality the tariffs were a complete destruction of their economy. This in turn would burst the real estate bubble. Everything about China's economy is a lie, that is why they could not speak the truth and had to continue to perpetuate the lie despite knowing it would cause their entire economy to implode.
For example China's shipbuilding capacity is about 200x what the US currently has. Now consider how many ships are sitting idol because of the tariffs. That means all that shipbuilding has probably ceased. No one is going to be ordering any shipping to be built today.
I would also point out that this is a warning to the rest of us. The real cause for this was AI. China understood AI would take away their jobs and that 1.4 billion people without jobs would be terrifying, better to kill off 800 million before anyone realized what was about to happen. But AI will take away jobs in the west just like they'll take away jobs in China. Already we are seeing it chew through the computer coding jobs. Elon Musk is making humanoid robots because he understands every job for a human is based on that model. If he makes a robot that can do the same things a human can do then it can take away every job that a human does. A year ago we were watching as each week we saw these robots get better and better and doing things while their skills grew exponentially. Then about a year ago all those videos ceased. Right at the time the robots were capable of doing jobs as auto mechanics and maids and cooks.
How many jobs are more difficult than being a soldier, a pilot, or a general? Because already AI and drones and robots are the ones fighting these wars in the MidEast and Ukraine. What we are witnessing is the rise of the Beast system, and unless we repent we will all likewise perish as those in China have.
AI needs power, the more power the more powerful your AI. That is why they keep telling people to stop using power. This is not about climate change, it is about give them the power for the AI, and take it away from the useless eaters.
