For more than a decade I have been what my fellow Protestants would say is "seduced" by Rome. I have felt great comfort in that the Catholic Church focuses on suffering, and the difficult things like the "Dark Night of the Soul." I have read much of the literature and theology from the Devotio Moderna of Thomas A Kempis' The Imitation of Christ to The Councils and Popes like Gregory The Great.

What has held me back is:

1) When in Rome I fell sick and was not healed till I left it. In contrast, in Jerusalem this did not happen, nor in Wittenburg at Castle Church.
2) The Marian Belief in the Mary Queen of Heaven bothers me because the Prophet Jeremiah confronts the worship of the Queen of Heaven in Jeremiah Chapter 44
3) Cult of the Saints and Prayers to Them, When There is One Mediator Christ ()
4) How opaque Salvation is the Romanite Tradition when Romans 10:9-10, John 3:16, John 6:40, John 17:3, Acts 15:7-11, Philippians 3:9, and Ephesians 2:8-9 are clear is By Grace Through Faith in Christ Alone.
5) The Sexual Scandals and In The Closet of the Vatican Book that speaks of the lewdness among all the offices of Priesthood from top to bottom through interviews.
6) The Dark History of the Catholic Church cannot be ignored from the St. Bartholomew Day Massacre, The Fourth Crusade Against Christians, The Spanish Inquisition, and Wars of Religion: as David McCulloch says in his book The Reformation, "it was French Catholics who attacked and killed Protestants, while Protestants usually destroyed statues."
7) Penance and Confession being necessary when Jesus paid it all.
8) Council of Trent condemning what the Apostles in the Scriptures say is How One is Saved and knows Jesus.
and More.

I really struggle because I have become disillusioned with Evangelicalism and its Politicanity; Church and State Resurgence. I find the Charismatic circles to be chaotic and I need some structure in my life. Most of the High Churches have split in two over ordination of Homosexuals such as Lutherans, Methodists, Presbyterians, and even Anglicans. But on the points above I cannot concede, and so I find myself without a Church home.. and doing what Pope Gregory advised Augustine of Canterbury, "take the best parts from all the churches and adopt them, whatever is worthy and praiseworthy, use them." (The Ecclesiastical History of the English People, Venerable Bede).

It feels real lonely.. because I can not "sear my conscious" to acquiesce to Rome. I just do not know what to do.

Dear SirSola you know too much not to want to join a church and share this knowledge. if you find the west too colorful because of the rainbow go Africa or Asia and have a new experience. I believe you can be a good disciple maker with all the knowledge you have. Join the church with the aim of sharing your knowledge and also shaping others as well as yourself and having wonderful fellowship.

You say that u r looking for structure in your faith / worship , create your own ! Read your Bible , say your prayers and get out there and put into practice what u learn from God and His Word made flesh ! U R THE TEMPLE ! U R THE CHURCH ! Go out there and b a good Christian . I haven't been to church for well over twenty years and my faith is getting stronger every day , it's certainly stronger than it was when I was going to church . God is everywhere , all day every day , learn to recognise Him when u c Him in your life , in your environment , in your heart teaching u . U r His Temple ! Let His light shine through u into this dark world 🎆

@SirSolaScriptura don't complicate things. :)

The Bible speaks of leaving our anxieties with God which is a mindset of balance. There are many passages in the Bible about living a care-free life while we're here.

Romans 12:2
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

2 Peter 3:17
You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, take care that you are not carried away with the error of lawless people and lose your own stability.

Matthew 6:33
But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

1 Peter 5:7
Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.

Philippians 4:13
I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

2 Timothy 1:7
For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.

Philippians 4:8
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.

The Bible also speaks of having the Kingdom of God here and now, in you.
So, strive for balance and forgive.
Don't pray to Saints or Mother Mary and don't worship a book either. God is first in everything He has created so He could fellowship with us and so we can love Him from our hearts with all of body, spirit and soul.
We don't understand His ways a lot of times so that's why forgiveness is important. He speaks to us across time and cultures.

Revelation 21:4
He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.
