People choose to believe lies of false doctrine all the time. Billions of people go to hell for believing heresy.

They do not do it knowingly, they do it unknowingly.

It is NOT possible to believe in something you know is untrue, unless you are mentally ill, like a narcissist.

1 Timothy 1:10
For fornicators, for them who defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and whatever other thing is contrary to sound doctrine.

2 Timothy 4:1-5
1 I charge thee, before God and Jesus Christ, who shall judge the living and the dead, by his coming, and his kingdom: 2 Preach the word: be instant in season, out of season: reprove, entreat, rebuke in all patience and doctrine. 3 For there shall be a time, when they will not endure sound doctrine; but, according to their own desires, they will heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears. 4 And will indeed turn away their hearing from the truth, but will be turned unto fables. 5 But be thou vigilant, labour in all things, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill thy ministry. Be sober.

The devil has no capacity to rule everyone who "hate" correct doctrine.
Actually, he does. 1 John 5:19 says, "We know that we are children of God, and that the whole world is under the control of the evil one." Colossians 1:13 says, "For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves". :)

True, but you are changing the subject. Believing false doctrine and knowingly believing false doctrine are two distinct things. Your opening question was about the latter, not the former.

Most people who habitually choose to believe false doctrine know they are wrong to do so.

Those who knowing choose to believe false doctrine do go to hell.
That depends on the nature of the doctrine.

Christians who believe (wrongly) that they must tithe will not go to hell. Christians who believe (wrongly) regarding the interpretation of Revelation will not go to hell. Christians who believe (wrongly) about the extent of Noah's flood will not go to hell.

What you need to do is consider which doctrines are fundamental (rejecting them makes one a non-Christian), and which are secondary.

1 Timothy 6:1-5
1 Whosoever are servants under the yoke, let them count their masters worthy of all honour; lest the name of the Lord and his doctrine be blasphemed. 2 But they that have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brethren; but serve them the rather, because they are faithful and beloved, who are partakers of the benefit. These things teach and exhort. 3 If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to the sound words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to that doctrine which is according to godliness. 4 He is proud, knowing nothing, but sick about questions and strifes of words; from which arise envies, contentions, blasphemies, evil suspicions, 5 Conflicts of men corrupted in mind, and who are destitute of the truth, supposing gain to be godliness.

2 Timothy 4:1-5

How do you or I know whether that scripture is warning us about you?

"You search the scriptures because you think that by extracting tehe right doctrines from there, you inherit the age to come. But he scriptures speak of ME, but you will not come to ME so that you may have life."
Sins are symptoms of our separating ourselves from God and Christ. They are not the cause. Distrust of God is the cause. The proof of God's love and faithfulness and mercy in the incarnation, life and death and resurrection of Christ is the cure.

I'm not sure if they really do.

For example, I used to believe in OSAS and toyed with the idea of a pre-trib rapture, but the more I study God's word and compare the false doctrines to what the Bible actually says, I really couldn't bring myself to keep believing in those false doctrines.

Realizing I was wrong to believe in those things really did cut me to my core though. At first upon realizing what the Bible actually says, I got really scared like the floor just disappeared from right under me.

But God encouraged me to pray to Him about it and what we could both do together to correct this.

First thing is, He calmed me down, which was very necessary. How am to learn from Him if I'm in a panicked state?

Then He started helping me submit to His Holy Spirit in order to carry out what the Bible actually says. I'm so grateful for the Father for giving us the Holy Spirit - He is so much more powerful than any habitual sins and false doctrines in my life and I was able to overcome them.

So to me, if a person is awakened to the truth and realizing that what they had believed all along was false, I think if they really belonged to the Lord that they would abandon those false teaching and embrace truth.

I think a person who knowingly believes false doctrine (if such a person exists!) is extremely foolish! Why would they prefer a lie that will kill them???

This scripture is warning everyone of the need to believe correct doctrine.
Correct doctrine is doctrine that leads someone to depend on the Persons of the Godhead to maintain a loving relationship with them and others. If a doctrine does not help us to love God and others with a 1 Cor. 13 kind of love, it is not worth holding on to it.
