Why on earth is this topic (weight gain) just for the ladies?
You always sound as if you don't know about anything about the fact that women's bodies are greatly affected by things like pregnancy and menopause. How many kids has your body birthed, and have you gone through menopause? And would you be able to keep the package in perfect, preserved condition throughout all of that and 'til the end of time?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe you don't have any children? Has your wife been through childbirth and how was her recovery? Not every woman's body is able to snap back, especially after she has multiple children.
I always hear you repeat that designed men to be attracted to looks and that all my life, I've heard over and over that "men are visual." I've always said, "If men are visual, do they think women are blind?"
Again, I'm guessing you've never had problems with weight, but do you think weight and looks are all one-sided?
.
="CarriePie, post: I'd do other workouts too, like punches.
But, I definitely did my most butt kicking workouts in my longest relationship. Maybe I'm just the oddball.

Karlon's manscaping friends said the Asian chick was stating to look a little chubby......SO Asian gal tries CarriePie's butt kicking workout routine. 😆

I'll probably stick to free weights and the treadmill -- and instead of guns and swords, my weapons are usually words.

But there's nothing quite like watching an Asian girl kick butt!!

Karlon, if you truly loved the person, it shouldn't matter what weight they are. Do their eyes or their personality change? No, then it's lust and not love. The American diet was born to keep people fat; unless you are constantly on a diet like vegan, keto, OMAD, or EOD, you're going to be fat. People can't eat the American diet and be skinny. It's just not possible. Also, when you're single, you come home and you can call it a day after a cup of yogurt and some fruit, but there's also a lifestyle change when you get married. You have to make a good hearty breakfast in the morning and a great dinner with a dessert at night. So the real question is, can the chef resist what she has made and eat a salad?

I'm just glad we have a crowd here with a good sense of humor!!
I really didn't have anything to add. Years ago, I would have said something similar to what karlon said. I like to think I've gotten wiser in these things. Looks do cause either attraction or repulsion. Sometimes we're attracted by the looks of someone, then repulsed by conversation afterwards.

I love how that kick just launched him! 😄

I was working in my attic this week and saw my barbells, kettle bells and workout bands.
Good home gym/ band workouts.
I need to restart this now so I can get the hard arborist work done safely.

This is such a good point, Daisy.

One thing that helps keep my weight steady is being able to control my own food supply. I can't imagine what it must be like for wives and busy moms who have to cook meals that somehow meet everyone's preferences, allergies, and needs. I've had friends who thrive on diets with the opposite main components as mine, and that would be hard to be around that all the time. It's especially hard if one person stays naturally thin and the other can gain weight just by reading a recipe.

Finding someone who's a good cook who can also stay thin doesn't seem to be very common.

I've told this story before, but I took classes at the home a beautiful Christian woman who was in her 40's, married with a family. She was a first-rate cook and had her own baking business. But it came with a price, because she was also in the midst of losing 120 pounds to try to get back to a healthy weight.

I enjoyed her classes but at the end, I threw all her recipes away -- because I knew if I cooked that way, in a few years, I'd be in the same boat.

For me, tonight's dinner was a salad with canned beans for protein, celery with hummus, and half an orange.

I know I wouldn't stay married very long if I tried to feed that to a husband.

But he would have to understand that we'd have to make some serious compromises, because I know that's what I have to do to stay healthy.

Too smashing!

Also, I know what I'm watching this weekend lol
Ballistic was one of the movies that featured a martial art that I used to teach. I got sidetracked a few years and wanted to get back to it. What I needed was one of my senior students or a teacher to help me remember forms / katas/ anos. My master teacher was in North Carolina. Another was in Ohio and the other retired altogether from martial arts.

I saw that scene one night.
It reminded me of how much I wanted to teach that again and train ladies self defense too.
I paused the movie, fell to my knees and fervently prayed, weeping to the Lord.

That week I went back to my martial art school and the teacher from Ohio, I hadn't seen in years, walked unexpectedly through the door. He shouted as he waved and asked if I wanted to train with him in Modern Arnis again!
Praise the Lord!!!
God is good!

Have you tried intermittent fasting?
It includes the time you sleep as well as the bookends of the day/ night.
You choose when to eat within the window of 6-8 +/- hours depending on the school of thought.
I ate one filling meal earlier and won't eat until tomorrow afternoon. However, I sometimes have something fatty for brain fuel and healing in the morning..... coconut oil/ butter in the coffee or a spoonful at night.
Two meals is best according to a study comparing with one meal. It spares muscle and burns fat aka keto.

I'm not saying you need it. It's just an option that helps meet some needs safer without those calorie restrictions and willpower.

I love this. This warms my heart <3 As I've said, you are a blessing!

Self defense training is definitely needed, if you ask me. I live on the edge of the country. This area attracts squatters and ne'er-do-wells. I have no problems with going outside at any time of the night if I hear suspicious noises. I'm always armed when do this. It's wise to be able to protect oneself wherever you live, armed or not.

---

I wanted to add, concerning workouts, working out isn't just good for the body. A lot of the time I do it for my mental well being. I just feel a lot better when I workout. I started doing it for my physical health, but I realized it was helping my mental health as much (or more) than my physical health. I feel better when I make working out a part of my life, and like the weight on my shoulders isn't quite so heavy.

The worst are the injections like Ozempic. I did consultations for a lady recently who was seriously messed up by her MD who pushed her to take it and one other kind.

Me too!
😎👍 I would love to teach you.
Please pray that I can recover quickly and get back to it.

I have tried intermittent fasting but due to other parts of my medical self-care routine, feel that following it too strictly doesn't work for me (it makes me feel shaky.)

I do tend to eat only two meals, with my last one being a very early dinner and then don't eat again until morning, so my schedule sometimes comes close to intermittent fasting anyway. But sometimes I have to split my two meals into more regular mini-meals, depending on how my system reacts.

I appreciate your suggestions! :)

I have a friend who was slim when she married but over the years has gained weight and has a myriad of health issues. She's told me she's tried to lose weight so many times BUT her husband refuses to give up the sweets, chips, sodas, etc and as many of us know, it's a lot harder to eat healthy with that junk in the house. It's almost as if he's trying to subvert her efforts.

I find the comment "So, if a women was large when the guy noticed her, he wouldn't have asked her on a date!" a bit odd. There are many men who find larger women attractive. I wasn't exactly a skinny-minnie when my husband met me. He said he appreciated a woman with some meat/cushion and was attracted to chubby me from the get-go.

Now I'm pregnant with our 10th baby and, yeah, I had a hard time getting back to my pre-prego weight with the last two so I'm larger than I've ever been (and I hate it!). Yet, he's still attracted to me. I have plans to get my diet and health under control after baby is born but I also have a health issue (throat stricture) that makes it difficult to eat like normal people. My husband is on carnivore and I'd LOVE to be on that eating plan (especially after seeing how it's improved his health and helped him lose over 100lbs) but I'm currently limited on what I can eat without choking to death. You'd think being restricted on what foods my throat will allow without killing me would make me thinner, but it's the stupidest unhealthiest foods that my throat will tolerate. Foods that are too high in useless calories. It's frustrating. I'll need to get my throat stretched again (next year) and then I'll be able to get serious about eating healthy. Anyway, those are my "excuses". I have never and would never "let myself go" just cause I caught me a man.
Now shaving my legs? That's another story! lol

I'd also like to point out that women have a LOT harder time losing weight than men. In the past I've pushed and struggled and fought food temptations and exercised and hardly lost any weight. Versus my husband who can do a few pushups, eat one less meal a day, and the weight falls off him. We ladies are BUILT to hold on to weight so we can sustain life.

I've heard intermittent fasting is a bit trickier for women. We have to plan around our cycles, etc. It's a lot easier for men to implement.

I'm glad you go armed. The challenge in the country is the lack of witnesses that make the criminals feel bolder because they don't think they will encounter consequences.

A couple nights ago, I was walking back from the grocery store. I enjoy the exercise.
A creeper was following me. The white car kept approaching from front back, parked ahead of my path and spotlighted me with his headlights.
When I emerged from a residential side street near home, he sped around the corner and stopped in the center of the intersection spotlighting me.
I put my phone on video and waited as it drove past and away.
I'm won't go into details now because I'm building a case. The week before I got a death threat too.
It doesn't shake me up, but shows me that these end times are changing.
There's going to be an exponential increase in violence and need for good guys, good gals to gain skills that provide much power over evil.

Always remember that greater is He that is in me than he who is in the world.

I've heard intermittent fasting is a bit trickier for women. We have to plan around our cycles, etc. It's a lot easier for men to implement.
I can only fast for so long for various reasons.

There was also a time when I was at a church that pushed fasting for spiritual reasons and while of course I know the value of it, what the church never talks about is that it just doesn't work well for some people. In fact, some paint it as a personal failure if you can't fast.

I had mentioned in my other post about problems with disordered eating behaviors. I've never been officially diagnosed (my symptoms weren't considered severe or prolonged enough,) but I went through a time where I was fasting every day until 5 PM, then would only eat one light meal, all while devoting more time to prayer. I also managed a fast where I made it through a day and a half without eating.

It started to consume me. Every week I was thinking, "This is it! This is the start of a new fast -- I'm going to go longer, with less food, and get closer to God than ever!"

I had tried to keep up the "Fasting Until 5" for a few weeks -- and I am sure as I've ever been that the Holy Spirit told me, "Seoul. You are not fasting -- you. are. starving yourself. STOP."

This is something the church doesn't talk about. Fasting can be a cautionary tale for those who struggle with disordered eating, because it disguises your symptoms as "spiritual" or "getting closer to God," and it shames you if you "fail."

In the end, you have to do what's best for your own body, with God's guidance, and ignore the naysayers.

These days, I can only go so long without eating or else I get too shaky.

I'll be praying for your safety and for your case!

I'm thankful my father instilled into me to be aware of my surroundings. I'm armed because he left me with plenty to protect myself. Growing up, he'd tell me about dangers and what to do if I found myself in a bad situation. He'd always tell me to keep my head on a swivel.

Those who didn't grow up with someone in their life like my father need people like you. I'll also be praying that you, as you said: recover quickly and get back to it. Self defense is critical in my viewpoint. Even us people that had someone like my father still need to practice self defense skills. It's something we all can use.

This topic, probably, most would consider, is for the ladies. So, guys all over the world question why women gain weight after they become a girlfriend or wife. We know partly, the reason why. Women become attached & feel like they are secure so contentment abounds. Most men out there have dealt with this issue especially in America. here's the meaty part of it, no pun intended; girls wonder why guys are not attracted to them anymore because they gained weight. Well, all you women know that guys are attracted by looks which God has designed. So, if a women was large when the guy noticed her, he wouldn't have asked her on a date! No mockery or disparagement intended here. Please girls, Christian honest answers only. by course, guys go ahead & answer too.
You have never noticed how men change the same??? Open you eyes.
