I did not always agree with him.
He taught with such great detail with substance that he gave us doctrinal thinking material to make us able to think for ourselves.
Even to disagree with him, if need be.
God does not want us to learn the entire Bible in our lifetime.
He only wants to learn what is to be needed to handle what is to take place in our lifetime.
Those who are given much will be required much.
Those who neglect the amount given them will reap what they sow.
Not like you claimed.
In his day, the Apostles were alive to keep everyone in check.
My take? 43+ translations say I am onto something.

What is covenant according to the Bible?
covenant. Literally, a contract . In the Bible - an agreement between God and his people, in which God makes promises to his people and, usually, requires certain conduct from them.
Example:
Genesis 2:16-17
16 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; 17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”
This sounds like a promise to me! PLUS, it requires certain conduct from them. It fits the very definition, therefore it is a covenant.......................
No He told me I have received a gift that is not revocable.
Everyone overlooks this.
A gifted pastor teacher teaches so well.......We can prove Him wrong when wrong. He wants the Truth as much as his students.
Todays "teachers" indoctrinate and bring in the dog and pony show. They want you to believe THEIR "truth."
What is your point?

Understood. I've been encountering many of late who could have benefitted from a teacher who would have taught them how to stand on their own two feet in the Faith. He certainly worked hard at that goal.
Looking back, one of the main issues I have with systematic teaching is that it really doesn't teach us to think for ourselves apart from the presuppositions that we've received and have thus structured our thinking. It can take a lot of work to unwind some of that structure if/when we find it to be wrong. Also, there are many who sit faithfully year after year and learn 'doctrine" but don't learn the Bible. That seems to be more a problem with the hearers than the teacher.
Some of us had good fathers and learned how to be stabilized with them.
No need to play make believe.
Others seek and want a make believe relationship...
Those ones, play church.

We tend to carry what we're taught.
If the teacher is doing his job onto God's approval, it matters not if all his hearers reject him.
Look at Jeremiah.
We tend to get taught not what we will not settle for... Or, will.
We make that choice.
And, it is God who provides for all our needs.
God provides a choice of a wide gamut of pastors.
Just like He provided different trees in the Garden.
A coworker ask me to join his Bible study. He was seminary trained in Greek & Hebrew, I asked him why he wanted me to join this study. He replied, “So you can learn to study for yourself, and you won’t need me.“
Some big assumptions here. Everybody seems to think they're working with God's approval or the Spirit's leading. If they are, then He has a lot of human beings being taught a lot of different and conflicting things. The hearers seem to be learning various traditions well, yet I frequently notice how they will walk away from serious focused discussion on Scripture.

I know EXACTLY what you teach and believe. Nothing hidden. Straight forward. Take it or leave it.
99% of the rest here........try to ride the fence. And It shows up when you push them...even a little bit.
A wide gamut with a wide variety of interpretive traditions of one Text and one Spirit and one Lord. So, why do we argue as if ours is the only correct tradition?
IMO you give way too much credit to most who will sit almost anywhere they feel some sense of comfort with learning the Word not high on their list. If it's a teaching church, again, it's much more common to learn the structured thinking than it is the Text.
Ok. This is from scripture and a divine view point........A disciple is not greater than their RIGHT TEACHER. When fully trained they will be like their RIGHT TEACHER.
Like a spouse, we have a RIGHT TEACHER. If we don't utilize His Grace gifts to us we could find a pink elephant and think he is our right teacher.
