I don't think I've ever deleted anything from any site, forum, etc in my life.. after all its anonymous. Seems to happen on this site quite often.

I don't think I'd be able to tell if an account was removed, deleted, from the site what with all the member accounts names that there are.

I did learn that having guest or banned appear under a member name means they have left the site.

Many people that do this are people that come and go quickly, so they just shut down the account since they know they won't be coming back.
It may be that it's also safer, security wise. The more open accounts you have the more your passwords are out there as well. Not to mention making you easier to track across the internet.
Another possible reason for some is that they wanted a name change, which means a while new account. And since we aren't supposed to have more than one account at a time, you have to shut down your old one.
Some people on here have changed names/accounts 3 or more times.

I like to think of myself as a www pioneer. When I first obtained access, I would exercise my creative energy at comicchat.com (anyone remember being greeted with "a/s/l?" Anyway, it is long gone now, and I sort of miss it because it was fun. I think I might've been some help in inspiring hit songs and even some screenplays, only God knows. I don't remember ever registering there and would come in with a different un each session. I did the same thing at, iheart radio I think, one time. Long story short I ended up on the site following an invitation from a friend from myCBN a way back. I logged in with a different 'cb handle' during her husband's broadcast each week. I suspect that he might've abandoned that stint because it was difficult to keep his program on track and keep up with the attendees' ongoing IM conversation at the same time, or maybe, going by the commercial interruptions' content, the station didn't quite 'vibe' with their particular sensibilities.
I think back and wonder if that might've been considered very rude of me, not sticking to one handle I mean. But the participants' intelligence seemed exceptional, on par with the speaker, with the sense of humor to match and, I supposed, likely also friends of the family, who accorded enough concern to suffer me a right to privacy. The only reason I haven't 'reinvented' myself here is because I've managed to avoid being banned so far (I think I might've come close at least once... although I do wonder how many times it has been requested, actually) But, if and when I do, I'd like it to be accompanied by a sense of righteous indignation on my part, along with a cc uprising, as would be fitting the situation.

The internet is a lawless wasteland.

I've always been single and hang out mostly in Singles, so most stories I've heard and known of people leaving/coming back has been due to personal entanglements.

For example (all based on true stories with names changed:)

1. Bill posts a lot on the site, but doesn't like the responses he's getting. He leaves and comes back to see if people will give him a more favorable reception under his "new" identity. This seems to be the most popular reason. People want a "fresh start" and "clean slate," hoping they'll be able better liked next time around and/or more people will listen to them.

2. Sara really likes John and believes he likes her, but she wants to "test" his loyalty. Maybe they move their communication offsite, and so she opens a new CC account and starts talking to John as someone "new," to see if he's flirting with other girls.

3. Jen is being harassed and stalked by an online admirer, but she doesn't want to leave the friends she has here on CC. So, she closes her account and comes back as another, hoping her stalker won't recognize her and will leave her alone.

4. I've also known of people who use accounts of the opposite gender, pretending to be a guy when they're a girl and vice versa, for varying reasons like the ones above.

Unfortunately, that old saying really is true in that you never really know who you're talking to online.

On the previous Christian forum I was on I deleted my account and came back several times . There were a few unpleasant people on there who , once u had said one thing that they didn't like , they would literally torture u even if they liked u before . They were like a pack of pitbulls . So I would leave , wait a couple months and go back with a different name . The reason I kept going back was because it was a different type of forum , it was a Bible based discussion , not much personal stuff or any popular culture or personal sharing etc and I love the Bible and talking about it . So I kept going back for about four years but I've finally had enough . So I'm here now and thoroughly enjoying . I love the fact that there r so many different topics and lots of different people , who r allowed to have their own personalities and there seems to b respect for freedom of speech on here , that was lacking on the other site . This just seems like a more open , friendly and tolerant space , so I don't think I shall b changing my name or anything like that 😁 .
