But here's my take since i was born there, and got my education there.
I am pretty sure that Europe can't be united, primarily due to its past history. The whole Euro thing was done right after the fall of the Berlin wall by elitist beurocracts to counter the Dollar.
Europe can't be united mainly because of its cultural differences.
Take my birth country Albania. Although it's one nation with a defined set of borders, in reality it's 3 cultural zones. North, Center and South. I was born in the central region.
To this day i still have a very hard time understanding people from the North and have some difficulties understanding people from the South when they speak Albanian. That's how different the accent and vocabulary is.
The same thing applies to many other nations in Europe. I know of Italy and Greece well since they're my neighbors and Italy almost split in half at some point due to their cultural differences between North and South.
Also, if you're from Milan, it's pretty difficult to understand the accent of a Sicilian.
So, this whole thing of a "United Europe" is an illusion because the reality of the people there is that they don't have a lot of desire to be united. This is what the elitists beurocracts have been pushing in EU for decades with rampant immigration where it's difficult to tell if you're in Europe, Turkey or Africa anymore.

In US, it comes down to who is going to extend an olive branch first in order to reach unity.
Usually this comes when things have to get a lot worse before they get better, as we know from history.
At this point in time, it seems that the left is waking up in realizing that they are out of touch and need a new approach.
Gavin Newsom said this very same thing in the Bill Maher show where he admits that the Democratic party is toxic and that we need to talk to the other side who we call extreme, so we can understand their point of view and in-turn adjust ours.

I would agree with your reasoning of why Europe may not be able to unite into the United States of Europe but my instinct says to disagree so I'll explain why. If Europe cannot unite together as a nation with people of different cultures races and ethnicity then we pronounce the failure of the United states of America with the same reasoning because the United States of America is an nation set together by the same peoples of Europe and other nations of other continents. So either the 250 year existence of the United States of America is the melting pot as it is referred to and is then the perfect example of why Europe can also do this or else we are no longer addressing the divisions within the United States of America and fixing it but rather explaining the cause of it's fall.

I can also explain why that reasoning is wrong.
When Europeans came to the new world, it was basically a 'clean slate' to start anew and fresh trying to shed their past baggage.
This is why the founding fathers of this nation, had a lot of wisdom drafting a constitution which was light-years ahead for its time, because they factored-in the history of their nations and where they came from which included Kings and Queens.

Similarly English is spoken the same more or less and even if you try to do some Texas accent on me, i would understand 90% of what you say .

I am not hating Mr. Trump. I only questioning his motivs. This is legitim in a free country, I suppose. I am agree with his Israel politics. But not in the way of his behavior to people. This no worthy for a leader of such a great nation.
And this has nothing to do with left ore right.
