Its used for an emulsifier. To keep the temporary mix elements from separating.
When looking into it years ago, bromide compounds were substituted for iodine in wheat flour products as a mold inhibitor. It competes with iodine receptors in the body which prevents absorption of the essential element.
I looked up some of the symptoms of toxicity. A substantial percentage of psychiatric patients institutionalized, who were tested, showed bromide toxicity.
"Symptoms of bromide poisoning can be neurological and psychiatric, with widely variable effects. Common symptoms may include restlessness, irritability, ataxia, confusion, hallucinations, psychosis, weakness, stupor, and, in severe cases, coma.2 Gastrointestinal effects include nausea and vomiting as acute adverse effects, while chronic exposure may lead to anorexia or constipation.7 Dermatological effects include cherry angiomas, acneiform, and pustular and erythematous rashes."
Here are some of the symptoms of iodine deficiency.
Iodine deficiency is a common cause of thyroid diseases, including hypothyroidism, which can lead to symptoms such as severe tiredness, feeling cold, weight gain, and an enlarged thyroid gland (goiter).4 Severe iodine deficiency can also result in impaired thyroid hormone synthesis, goiter, and other health issues like decreased fertility, increased infant mortality, and mental retardation."
What is the standard therapy/ treatment for goiters?
