That last post was intended in a humorous tone. When you boldly announce that you are a conspiracy theorist, people start wanting to excuse themselves and be somewhere else now.
Thankfully, i'm the relaxed type who's tough as old boots too. However realised, my comments about buying the graphics cards could be misinterpreted.

Old people are better money managers and usually not strapped for cash like young people, however, few of us are awash with cash. Those two graphic cards which are really useful to me and provide some future proofing, cost the same as the normal price of one in the winter sale. Important to me to provide the context, don't want people here getting the wrong impression.

Kudos for providing important context for me too, thought it unlikely you were being snippy but was unsure. Have a good 'un! (y)

Aww! Blessings and cheers GaryA, lovely to meet someone else who's a conspiracy realist as well as theorist!
Well - not quite... ;)

I always tell people:

"I don't deal in conspiracy theory - I deal in conspiracy fact..." :geek: (y)

:giggle:

It is always nice to meet someone who is a truth seeker and can "see" things the way they really are...

Absolutely friend, we're conspiracy realists as well as theorists. Both good things to be which is why the powers that shouldn't be feel threatened enough by them, to make them derogatory terms.

You probably want to wait for Eli to get here and answer that one. I know basics and generalities. He would know more specific answers like that.
Hello @Lynx and @LifelongLearner .
I am sorry but i don't know anything about Linux.
It's like Greek to me. :D

You mean you are not tryin' ta learn ya some linux?
No sir.
I don't want to be a 'jack of all trades and master of none'.
i want to master one thing and one thing only.
So when i need a Linux or Apple admin at work, i expect the same traits from them too and i seek these traits by asking them so i can avoid a 'jack of all trades'.

We had all those storms. Well, in one chat they were saying stay away from windows, and I replied, 'I learned a long time ago to stay away from Windows, so I use Linux.' There was no response for some reason.

Some people just don't recognize a good joke when they hear it.

Greetings and hugs Lynx, Eli, GaryA and Zandar, M.I.A the last few days cos of old dear arthritis, however, new mobo issues too.

Bought the b650 aorus elite ax v2 at a real bargain price, do love my bargains, as the bios in the b650 is hell on earth to update in Linux. However, unlike the b550 v2, Gigabyte didn't change to the update in bios system, it's the same as in the ax!

Know i should have checked before buying but i didn't, would have bought it anyway while it's so cheap, it's a BIG improvement on the ax. Done exactly what Gigabyte said, renamed the name/32a file to GIGABYTE.bin, tried a few other potential workarounds too but no go.

If anyone can help save my hair and prevent the fate worse than death to me, installing WINDOWS to update the blasted bios, i'd be so grateful. Will look in later, hope somebody might have some ideas, all that's good for now.

Ooh, forgot to mention the update is still using the shell script via bootable usb system, fso/flash.nsh etc. Yep, i use ventoy and only use 8gb usb drives with just the efi flash files, it should work.

Just because you use Windows to flash the BIOS doesn't mean you have to run Windows.

Just think of it like a girl using a guy for a free dinner. "Thanks for helping me with this bios update. Bye now."

Eh. You don't even have to install drivers for windows to use all your hardware. Just put it on, run the stupid exe and wipe it out.

I won't tell linux you have been cheating on it if you don't.
