Can the intense fear of Hell possibly have the unintended consequence of driving one further from God?

Personally, I do not believe that the intense fear of hell drives anybody further from God. Instead, I believe that the concept of hell does. In other words, there are a lot of people who claim that the punishment of everlasting fire and torment does not match the crime or that it is unjust for someone to suffer eternally for a temporal sin. Mind you, I do not agree with the people who think this way, but I have heard that argument many times. Can the intense fear of Hell possibly have the unintended consequence of driving one further from God?

to willfully choose "Unbelief" to Father and Son as Won (One) for you is all that was left to choose to beleive God or not in Son for you, tha tis risen presently and forever for you. To see, by continued belief, one, anyone eventually sees after going through troubles too.Personally, I do not believe that the intense fear of hell drives anybody further from God. In my mind, the real problem is that people have become so desensitized to sin, even to the point where it is now "entertainment" in movies, TV, etc., that they do not recognize how exceedingly sinful it truly is. Speaking about hell, in my estimation, helps to straighten people out along these lines. As one preacher that I know says by way of analogy, if I told you that I went to court today, and I had to pay a $25 fine, then you could guess, based upon my punishment or penalty, that I only had to pay for a minor infraction like a parking ticket. However, if I told you that I went to court today, and I was sentenced to life imprisonment or the death penalty, then you could guess, based upon my punishment or penalty, that I committed a horrible crime like murder. In other words, the severity of the punishment is indicative of the severity of the crime.
Hell was created for the devil and his angels (Matt. 25:41). Those who go there will be those who not only served Satan and demons in this life, but those who also refused to repent of their sins in order to be born again or saved.
Think of all the crimes against humanity which have ever been committed. Satan and demons where the inspiration or the influencing forces behind all of them.
Are Satan and demons worthy of eternal damnation?
Yes, they are, and so are those who willfully follow them in this life. If people choose to follow Satan and demons in this life, and multitudes do, then they will follow them to hell (the lake of fire) on Judgment Day as well.
Just a follow up on what I have found. After reviewing your replies and doing a lot of thinking I have realized Love of God and My love for others trumps all fear. Thank you for the responses.![]()
1 John 4:17-19
The Consummation of Love
17 Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world.
18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.
19 We love Him because He first loved us.
Nothing that a simple prayer from a mature brother or sister can't recover that soul from such a pit if it somehow did occur. Can the intense fear of Hell possibly have the unintended consequence of driving one further from God?

As in the broad scope of Galatians 6:1 to ''restore such a one'' caught in a (trespass Grk: a falling away, lapse, slip, false step, trespass, sin.), prayer is a powerful tool!

Well man sure uses it to get people saved GOD never does. I can see how it could yet seen to many come to God that way. Praise GOD HE never turns anyone away that come to Him.[/QUOTE
yet. However, anyone comes to Daddy, PaPa, Father through Son. whether of fear or not, I do not see whether or not it will matter to God
I see God sets life before us all, to choose Life with him and Son or of self and others to follow.
Once anyone chooses God between themselves and God.
God seals that one to see the whole truth
For me this continued belief got me to see
Accepted, Forgiven reconciled and sealed by God for me and all others that will not quit belief either
Eph 1:6,7,13 floors me
Accepted, verse 6, forgiven, reconciled, verse 7, and sealed by God to see it as real, if not yet, will
So, continue while going through adversities too, thank you
I do see Paul 1:6 as very real
Philippians 1:6
being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day ofJesus Christ:
I see to new confident, never known g how, learning g to not try to figure it out, understanding it is God's mysterious ways, that gets one anyone the truth of God to stand in no matter what troubles might happen to them or others as well, wow woe is me as own Isaiah 6:1-7
