Hi Burns, thank you for taking time to respond and join in.

This thread was just created as a bit of fun and humor.
If you're genuinely perplexed by God's will, we can certainly discuss that in a separate thread, or even privately.
Personally I don't feel perplexed by God's sovereign will or his peculiar answers to prayers... but if you do, we can certainly talk about that.

God Bless.

Yeah I kind of went off a little 😎

The OP unnecessarily made things much harder on himself. Had he simply titled the thread...Thoughts...he would only have had half his current problems.
Some people would question my veracity if I just claimed to have "thoughts."

Some days I'd argue with that... but other days... sorry, forgot where that was going...lost my train of thought.

In order to have depth perception, you need to have binocular vision...:giggle:

Because two eyes provide different perspectives of the same object, which your brain combines to create a single image.

Matthew 6:22
The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.

Some believe that single eye to be the pineal gland.
BTW, that's a very weird topic.
We have a virtual infinity of weird info on this topic swirling around the internet, and yet we know exactly what the pineal does; it secretes melatonin thus regulating circadian rhythms. It's a known quantity.

If memory serves, all the weird metaphysical mumbo-jumbo surrounding the pineal gland comes singularly from Helena Blavatsky (who founded the Theosophical Society.) She decided, just decided, the pineal gland was the same thing as the "third eye" from Eastern Mysticism. And her belief has since permeated through all kinds of New Age literature, and we still hear about it to this day.

As I recall, there is no connection whatsoever in ancient sources connecting the pineal to the mystical idea of the "third eye." That came solely from Blavatsky.

Ok, way off topic... but interesting.

How can it be off topic? Uh... come to think of it... what is the topic?

By the way, Helena Blavatsky was born in 1831, long after René Descartes
(born in 1596) postulated that the pineal gland was the seat of consciousness.

He believed the pineal gland was the part of the brain where the soul resided and interacted with the body.

That's a heavy load to put on one tiny gland...

The Cartesian view on this is weird and interesting, but still entirely different than the eastern views on the third eye.
Again, I don't think anyone called the pineal gland the third eye prior to Blavatsky.

But really good catch bringing up Descartes... interesting stuff.
We could talk about his views on mind-body dualism and why he would have thought this... but the thread is just going to get weirder and weirder.
