No it doesn't because Jesus died for the sin of the world, being saved is the promise God keeps for those who are believing.

1 Corinthians 15:3
For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,

Right, but there is more to it. His suffering also made Him the sanctifier of all who call on Him: He changes their lives. So, by His death we are saved from condemnation and by His sufferings as He lived, He can rightfully be the captain of our salvation from this world of corruption. Verses 14 through 18 expand on these two issues:

14 Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, 15 and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. (This is salvation from condemnation)

16 For indeed He does not give aid to angels, but He does give aid to the seed of Abraham. 17 Therefore, in all things He had to be made like Hisbrethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. 18 For in that He Himself has suffered, being tempted, He is able to aid those who are tempted.(This is salvation from the corruption of the world)

So Ephesians 2:8 reads we are saved by the Cross?

The Cross is not what saves us directly, it is the means God uses to enable Him to eliminate the barrier (ie.sin) that keeps us separated and which prevents Him from compromising His integrity when He reaches out to save believers.

We are saved by grace through faith.
