If you watch what was said before the so-called blaspheme, she was poking fun at the people who routinely thank God in their acceptance speeches. Their was no mocking of God involved at all. Christians have lost all credibility with people because of stupid accusations like this.

If this is to blame for the fires, who or what is to blame for all the disasters that routinely happen in red states? All the twisters that have ripped through the "Bible belt" for example?

I've just watched Joe Rogan interview Mel Gibson, who also lost his home in the fires. Mel Gibson said that Hollywood will not mock any religion but Christianity. He should know, he was pilloried for the "Passion of the Christ".

I had the mistaken impression that Mr Gibson was something of of an intellectual lightweight. Far from it. He is intelligent, articulate and well versed in scripture. He sees the great flaws in Roman Catholicism and is not afraid to say so. He's gone way up in my estimation.

Mel Gibson is an anti-semitic 🤡
Also for the Christians who are celebrating people's houses being destroyed. Stop doing that. That's not a good look

Wildfire in California is due to several factors....not a miraculous punishment from God.

Conspiracy theories are abhorrent to God.

Right, because God would "never" miraculously withhold rain from people or light a city on fire. How do you know it wasn't punishment from God? Did he tell you that?
Conspiracy theories are abhorrent to God.
You better tell that to CC management that created a conspiracy forum then.

How are conspiracy theories abhorrent to God? There are, in fact, conspiracies. So, when people see enough evidence to suggest there is, in fact, a conspiracy about something, they begin to look for further evidence and theorize. If conspiracy theories were abhorrent to God, then you could basically never investigate crimes that involved more than one offender without being abhorrent to God. That doesn't make any sense.

Hey if they could outlaw people asking questions of their "betters" they would.

How can anyone look carefully at what is going on in California and not ask questions?

Exactly. Especially when you have people there trash-talking God directly; which is about the dumbest thing you can do, unless you really want a holy smackdown.

One time I was just angry ranting about my circumstances in prayer, and made the mistake of asking God why he hated me so much- and I instantly went into a seizure... I'll definitely never do that again. People don't realize that God is not a game- he will straight up correct your nonsense one way or another.... and laugh at you for being stupid.

Well... it doesn't say that anywhere in scripture.

God does say he hates lies... but sharing views on corruption or judgement doesn't constitute a lie, it's merely the sharing of views.

If you KNOW something is a lie, and you're pushing it for some agenda... then that would be a lie, and God would definitely hate that.

For the record, I have no idea what's going on in California, but a lot of things look oddly suspicious.

Mel Gibson had a serious drinking problem. One time he said some terrible things about Israel in a drunken rant. He apologised later. That was in 2006. People do change. The question is, where is he at now?

Many Christians reject the idea that Israel is still God's chosen nation. I'm not one of them, but people are allowed to have different points of view. Gibson's movie, "The Passion of the Christ" touched the hearts of millions. Many were saved or restored to faith through that movie. I'm looking forward to the sequel about the resurrection.

No one should be celebrating the destruction of LA. However, it's hard not to think that maybe Hollywood is getting a lesson on how not to mock God or His followers. Some of us hope that catastrophe will cause people to turn to God in their distress. And compared to Ukraine, Israel/Gaza/Lebanon LA has only minor issues.

California generates about $4 trillion a year in income tax revenue
Much of that money trickles down into the Bible belt welfare sponge states that hate California for not being Christian or whatever

No way 4 trillion is correct. In 2023, the federal government only collected 4.44 trillion dollars in taxes. You think California pays 90% of the nation's taxes?

Yeah, I misspoke. They generate about 4 trillion a year in goods and services which of course stimulates economy
Just one state is the fifth largest economy in the world. We need California

In 2022, California paid around 220 billion in taxes. In 2021, they received around 144 billion in federal aid. Two thirds of the money received returns, but instead of the people who paid the taxes receiving the funds, the government gets it.
If I was trying to gain wealth and control a population, I can't think of a better way.

We need a free California, and not a corrupt one. It would be nice to tap into the oil reserves there. There is as much gas in California as Texas.
