"Echad" in scripture is not solely connected to marriage. For example, it is used here to describe the unity among those who were building the tower of Babel. Not only unity in purpose, but also unity in language at that time.

They had one spirit in common, none the less. The distinction between children of God and men doesn't necessarily differentiate between a heavenly entity and an earthly one and it is very possibly making a distinction between those that 'called on the name of the LORD' and the godless.
