Under the current leadership in the US military this action, however sensible and easily implemented, is not going to happen. These Biden appointees are brain dead. That's going to change on Jan 20, 2025 @ 12 noon. Not a moment too soon.
My thoughts exactly. Biden will probably come out with a treaty with the drone operators.

Elon Musk made an announcement September 30 th to inform us all that this was going to take place.
I'm sure he has a nondisclosure agreement that kept him from further details.

These guys are
A. spouting a bunch of blather. Lots of talk without exercising their powers as elected positions. The sheriff who should not be demeaning his voters, but is the highest law enforcement power and can actually do his job.

Concerning the drones, in the immortal words of Desi Arnaz (of "I love Lucy" fame) "Someones got some 'splainin to do!"
Years ago, military choppers of all makes and models circled the nearby cities and neighborhoods. They did domestic uban drills like repelling out into people's yards without permission. I read a copy of their press release that was the same one given to every media producer. It's probably a good thing that people are speaking about it. Last time it was mostly announced as patriotic exercises on civilian properties. The media were good spokesmen/allies for the training against domestic communities.
Elon Musk didn't explain the purpose, but he announced that this would happen back in September 30.
So I've heard, if Elon is behind these drones, that's all the more reason for the Biden Admin. to take target practice.
Other than the few vague statements he made, we can only speculate.
He was made aware of the drone swarms but can't honestly say he is producing them. He has highest level clearance with his rocket/ satellite contracts, so he's in on lots of meetings.
Your post about the chopper drills reminded me of when I watched that movie Independence Day. I remember the radio announcement, we ask Los Angelinos to please stop firing at the visitors. LOL
Just a visual that came to mind after the Jersey news asked people not to fire at the drones they're spotting.
