James chapter 1. If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach.
Body of Christ can't depend on individuals who are double minded. There not stable.
Proverbs chapter 3
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. Those who are sincere and diligent God may grant wisdom and knowledge. Those who have pride and selfish heart, won't obtain it. God hates pride and deception.
Romans chapter 8:7
For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God's law, indeed, it can not.
The flesh is in conflict with the Spirit. Those who are carnal minded, natural man, can't understand the spiritual things. Nor discern. But, Christian who is led by the Spirit understand spiritual things, and has spiritual discernment. Bottom line, the holy Spirit is the key. Without holy Spirit, they don't have guidance, and discernment. They can't understand deep truth of Gods word without holy Spirit.
Ask Jesus for knowledge and wisdom. Pray. Some people have Spirit of slumber and can't understand. Romans chapter 11 to document.

What then? Israel has not obtained that which he seeks, but the election has obtained it, and the rest were blinded.
According as it is written, God has given them the Spirit of slumber.
