Sure they are. But the subject is salvation. Jews were already recipients of salvation. The world not so much. And John is concerned to make this known. Not only does Israel have a Savior, but salvation is coming everywhere.

God only sends prophets to where God knows people are being positive to the invisible drawing of God.
That's what happened with Jonah.
And, look at Nebuchadnezzar.
All Babylon was evangelized after Jews were taken into their land.

I thought it was supposed to work the other way, ie no edification will come from a teacher until he starts speaking sound doctrinal thinking
